  • Great for newborn, didn't seem to have nipple confusion
After starting to feel a little frazzled from lack of sleep in the hospital, a nurse brought me this soothie with the profoundly truthful advice: You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of him. If this helps you get a little more sleep, it is worth it! I was afraid giving my newborn a pacifier would cause nipple confusion and get in the way of breastfeeding (which wasn't going so well in the first week), but after using this pacifier my son seemed just fine! Babies need to suck more than they can eat, so my baby would fuss sometimes after falling off the breast. He wasn't hungry, but he wanted to suck. Sometimes he found his hand, but sometimes he fussed and cried for longer than my new mom heart could take. Enter this lifesaving device. I offer it to him when he is fussy right before naps and bedtime, and he loves it! I got over my new parent guilt and just enjoyed the extra minutes of quiet (read: sleep) and the calmer, happier baby. After coming home, I bought a few more of these just to have on hand. The nipple shape is closer to a human nipple, and the entire thing is silicone (soft and hygienic!). I feel comfortable giving this a quick rinse under hot hot water and cooling it off before giving it to baby. ... show more

  • BEST PACIFIERS EVER!
As a new mom, I only recently discovered the absolute need of a pacifier for a new baby. We started out with several different kinds of pacifiers, but these always end up being the ones that we use. We ended up buying multiple sets of the same pacifiers. These are nice quality and easy for my son to keep in his mouth. He seems to spit out any other kind of pacifier. I also like that there is a small hole behind the nipple where I can hold my finger there to hold the pacifier in baby's mouth or just to hold it outside of baby's mouth. Even my son (at 3 months) is able to wrap his tiny little fingers around the ledge of the pacifier and basically push the pacifier back into his own mouth! The price is just right and I would probably pay even more for these because I like them so much. Many of my friends that have babies agree that these pacifiers are the best ones on the market! Do yourself a favor and get these pacifiers! ALSO, i must add that these pacifiers also have small holes in the front that allow you to easily attach the pacifier clip. ... show more

  • I wish I could buy these in bulk!
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1) Color: Green
These pacifiers are the same ones they provided to us at the hospital when my son was born. I grabbed as many as I could while we were in the hospital because I knew they would be lost quickly under couches, in the car, etc. but I couldn’t get enough so I’ve had to purchase them on amazon a few times. These are the “soothies” model. Our son will not take another type of pacifier because he is used to these. They are the closest to the look and feel of what a nursing mother has. I love that there is the hole in the middle to put your finger in and feel the baby suckling. It’s just such a cool feeling. It also helps my son calm down and feel that I’m there. My son is now 3 months old and still uses them regularly to soothe himself to sleep. I have also read that having a baby fall asleep with a pacifier can help reduce the risk of SIDS, so I like that benefit too. My only complaint about this style is that they kind of take up his whole face. So in pictures you mostly just see the pacifier. It’s advised to not use pacifiers until 6 weeks when breastfeeding has been established but these did not cause our son nipple confusion. (Every baby is different, I did not allow my now 8 year old to use a pacifier and now I’m wondering why because it really does help them learn to self soothe) Every time I purchase something online, I always check the reviews. I count on others to help me choose the best option. My reviews are always my honest opinion and I try to include photos if possible. • Works but not our favorite.
Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1) Color: Green
Our 2-week old daughter started crying and screaming from gas pain and would settle when we would let her suck on our finger. She is exclusively breastfed and we were worried about nipple confusion if we used a pacifier. Using our finger was often inconvenient so we eventually decided to give the pacifier a try. It did calm her right away and I liked that the design was shaped slightly like a breast nipple. The pacifier did change her latch slightly so we try to use it as little as possible. The biggest down side for us was that she can't keep it in her mouth. It falls out or she spits it out every few minutes and starts crying until we put it back in. For her the MAM style of pacifier worked better...it didn't rub on her chin and she was able to keep it in her mouth. I think the Avent Soothie works ok, and may work well for another child. It just wasn't the best fit for ours. ... show more

  • Helped my early newborn breastfeed
I was induced at 37 weeks, and my little five-pound miracle was severely jaundiced and had to be woken to eat. I was trying to breastfeed but we had an extremely difficult time with latching and staying awake; when we would get a latch, he'd suck a bit and then seem to "forget" what he needed to do; I wound up pumping until my milk came in and we mastered the latch two weeks later. In the meantime, a nurse gave baby boy a soothie to help "remind" him how to suck - she put it on her finger and moved it in and out until he took it and sucked a few times, then encouraged me to bring him to breast. This helped a bunch. He is now eleven weeks old, and these are still the only pacifiers he'll take. We alternate between breastfeeding and expressed milk in a bottle since I've gone back to work (he uses Medela, Dr. Browns, and Playtex nipples with no issue or confusion). I love these pacifiers because they're so cheap (which is good because the dog seems to dig them too!); I add a pack onto every diaper order. They do fall out easier than regular pacifier shapes, but I also bought a few Wubanubb pacifier holders to help him out. ... show more
