I received this crate yesterday, with absolutely no hardware to attach the crate together...not bolts or nuts! Makes it kind of hard to put it together. Luckily I have been a dog owner most of my life and have a collection of old bolts from past crates.I made it work with what I have , but can’t recommend the crate if they are shipping them out without hardware necessary to put it together. The crate appears to be sturdy enough for the price, though not overwhelmingly. New dog, two days before Thanksgiving, no bolts in the package..good thing I had a supply..Would still like to receive the bolts since I paid for them as part of the price...not really sure how to complain to Amazon so I . probably will end up taking the loss..as usual..oh well..at least I got it put together!

This is only my personal opinion, but I think it is too small for 50-70 lbs dog. My 46lb Rough Collie has to roll up in the ball to fit inside. It is tall enough and long enough, but is not wide enough to comfortably turn around and certainly is not wide enough to stretch when sleeping. Perhaps it would be a better fit for a crocodile?.. Rather then that it would do the job. I liked the small pitch wire door. I would prefer the same style mesh window, not just the vertical wire window. And if the crate was wider, window was mesh style and bigger, it would be simply an awesome dog crate :). Thanks for trying, Petmate. Perhaps I will look into next size up. Now that I know what works and what does not, I can work with given dimensions and do not have to actually try it.

ULTRA VARI KENNEL CRATE This is a good and well made crate. It was easy to assemble and is made pretty well. The high side metal vents provide light and air along with security for your baby. This is an important part of house breaking and having the proper fit for your animal usually discourages soiling inside the crate. This crate measures 36x25x27 inches and weighs in at 18.5 pounds. It is sturdy and doesn't move around while your dog is moving around inside. Our Diego weighs in at 46 pounds and is approximately 25 inches so this is the perfect fit for him. It allows him room to move, lay down, and stand up yet it isn't so big as to let him have room to do his business. We did have an open crate for him but he quickly figured out that if he lifted his leg, he could take care of business while not soiling his crate. This covered crate works much better and seems more secure for his wildness and bad attitudes! The crate is easy to clean, move and store. We are not big travelers but the crate has places for hold down straps for plane travel. I personally would secure the door better for air travel. We place blankets on the bottom to keep things cozy and comfy for our little spoiled brat. We are retired so Diego is only in the crate when we leave to go out. He walks right in and settles in nicely. We keep his crate in our attached and heated garage. The only problem is the door latch. The top latch fits great but the bottom one is a little tricky to operate. I suppose when you put a metal door in molded plastic this is to be expected. If you have an animal that you need to keep contained while you are out or working, this one works, is made well, and is sturdy. We are pleased with this product.

The kennel arrived promptly, however, the toughness is extremely disappointing. Our 40 lb coon hound was able to compromise the lower section PLASTIC in about a month. The door was securely closed when we arrived home to find the dog roaming the house free. I would not describe this kennel as tough or durable at all. I will not be purchasing a product like this again.

We adopted a puppy nearly a month ago. We needed a crate to help us with housebreaking. We live in a building, so potty time is down a hallway, down the elevator, down a sidewalk to the dog walk path. Right now she is on an around the clock schedule. Every three to four hours she wakes up, eats if its mealtime, plays, then downstairs. The crate is where she sleeps for naps and at night. This crate has been a great help. It's large enough that she can stretch all the way out to fall all the way asleep. It's light enough that we can easily move it from the living area during the day to the bedroom area at night. She is growing so fast. She now nearly sleeps through the night. Once she is older and housebreaking is done we might not need the crate. If she likes it we will keep it as her bedroom with the door open or off. This crate has made housebreaking much easier than expected. Glad we bought it!

I have a Lab pit mix and we have had a lot of trouble crate training her. She was pulling things into her old crate and shredding them. This included any and all crate covers or anything left too close to her crate. But with out a cover she would be up at dawn everyday barking till we let her out. This new crate is great! I was a bit concerned getting a plastic crate as she is a chewer. ( large uncut antlers last maybe 2-3 days at our house) But she has been great in it. The bars and door are close enough together too that she can't pull anything in! It's a nice sturdy crate. The only thing is I wish there was a bigger one. When she sleeps she is always stretched out on her side and this crate just isn't big enough for her to sleep that way.

I purchased a 40" crate a couple years ago and I liked the quality, so when I needed another one I went with the same brand. It's one size smaller (36"). The first thing I noticed was that the quality of the plastic seemed to have gone down, and it did not seem as well made. Also the metal grate on the side was bent out. When our 40 lb shepherd went into the crate it felt small for her, then our 65 lb shepherd tried to go into it and could barely move. So don't base your purchase on weight. Overall it's not a bad crate for the price. I like plastic crates for travel much better than wire crates and this works for what I need it for.
