First off, please read the directions for fabric care. Between the packaging and the tags you need to: wash in cold water, gentle cycle, low tumble dry, no other clothes in washer, wash before first use. I had no issues with pilling or any other anomalies after washing. The first thing is that these percale sheets are significantly thicker than my Bed Bath Beyond (BBB) percale sheets that I’ve had for 5 years. I’d say almost 40-50% more weighty. They feel like they’d basically last forever if you cared for them well. I live in FL and am a very hot sleeper. With my BBB sheets I’d still throw the comforter off sometimes and have a sweaty pillow. With these the pillow and sheet are bone-dry every morning. They have an almost “silky” feel - very smooth (but not in a Sateen way - it’s hard to explain). Like my BBB ones they wrinkle like all getout. You can’t feel the wrinkles, but if something like this bothers you then look elsewhere (or get the iron out). The wrinkles do relax a bit after a couple days. These sheets are 100% cotton and that’s what cotton does. Luckily guests don’t peak under our comforter to see if we have wrinkled sheets or not. They are made for sleep-quality - not looks. The only quirk is the color I ordered (Shadow Gray) - while beautiful - sits on the bluer side of the spectrum. If you’ve tried to match grays you know the color grey is a complicated color. My comforter is grey and sits in the greener side of the spectrum. Not a deal-breaker by any means - but just something to keep in mind. Side note, I use these sheets in conjunction with a Hanna Kay mattress protector. I can’t recommend these enough and they feel worth every penny. ... show more

    • Lots of shrinkage and bad wrinkles even with very careful laundering.

Dang. I thought when I first put these on the bed, that I'd found THE perfect sheets: crisp, cool, smooth, breathable, and a nice weight but not too heavy. I ordered the king set in latte. And they WERE perfect, right outta the box. Both my husband and I get hot even in winter, so prefer cotton bedding vs synthetics and blends. I was so excited to try these, that I put them on the bed right outta the box (came very nicely packaged). Loved them and we both thought they were the most comfy sheets we'd ever had. However, post-laundering was a different story. Instructions say wash cool and gentle, then dry on delicate/lowest setting. Did that and more: laundered the set by themselves to eliminate crowding. All of this should reduce most shrinkage and wrinkles. Unfortunately, everything came out badly wrinkled - even after returning each sheet individually to the dryer on low setting with a soaking wet towel to steam out the wrinkles (works like a charm for EVERYTHING else). Nope. Also, both top and bottom sheets had shrunk. A lot. The en-smallened bottom sheet still fits my mattress, as the set came out of the package sized to easily accommodate deeper mattresses and/or toppers and I have neither of these -- but folks who do have them, may be disappointed after laundering. I'm a reasonable person and a small bit of shrinkage and wrinkles is something I can live with, but c'mon - for the price I just plain expect better, especially when I still have cheaper sheets I bought years ago from discount stores that never had these issues. And I have neither time nor inclination to iron my bedding, even if wrinkles were the only problem. Heck, I don't even iron clothes, anymore! I wish the Peru Pima sheets had lived up to their initial promise, because I would've bought another set in a heartbeat. EDIT 11/2022: Okay - to be fair, I had to up these from 3 to four stars. The sheets are going strong -- smooth, cool percale which I love. They've mellowed over the years and with repeated laundering, and have become favorites. I don't bother with heroics in washing - just shove 'em into the ol' top loader on warm or hot. I do avoid a lot of wrinkling by drying them on lower heat without a lot of other items crowding the barrel, then pull out and fold just as soon as they're dry. The main reason these aren't five stars for me, is due to that initial and major shrinkage of the top sheet. It will always hang too short on the sides of our mattress. But hey - I call that a first world problem because they always feel great to slip into on a warm summer night. ... show more

    • Get Percale Cotton not Sateen! These sheets are the Best!

First off- These Sheets are the BEST they are cool, crisp and they work with your body temperature so you wont be cold either because they breath! These are the sheets we all want after sleeping in a true European bed. I will share what I found when picking the perfect sheet... Do not Buy Sateen Cotton, while the marketing is all about Sateen... here are a few facts to consider - Sateen Cotton doesn't breath its hot and it wrinkles more and its slippery. Despite the race to get the highest thread count ... dont bother- The higher the thread count the more wrinkles and the cotton wont breath. You only want a 300-400 thread count because your sheets wont wrinkle as much and they will breath. The higher the thread count then count on lots of wrinkles and a fabric that feels heavy and irritating and will not give you any more or less warmth. So why are these the Sheets to buy..... because they are Cotton “Percale” and around a 400 thread count! Percale is a type of weave and is 100% cotton. The finest sheet manufacturers like Matouk sell these sheet sets for $500 plus! Dont hesitate to buy these sheets you will never order any other once you have these. Sheets not durable - ripped after only 5 months! Totally shredded after only 5 months of wear. Not as durable as the price suggests. I have 3 sets of sheets, too, so they weren’t even washed more than a few times!

Love these sheets very comfortable. They keep me cooler than some of my other sheet. The pillowcases that come with it are pocketed. I'm not sure what it's called, but it keeps the pillow case from coming off the pillow. I never had these before. I always had a problem with my pillow flattening out. With these pillowcases, it keeps it tight. So it doesn't squish out. At first the way the corners were and the depth of my mattress, I thought I would end up returning these sheets. We ordered these sheets based off so many positive reviews and returned them a day later. First impression, the packaging was first class, and there was no doubt we had received nice sheets. After unboxing, we were a little skeptical since the stripes were only on one side of the sheet and the reverse side was white. The color must be from some sort of printing, not colored thread. The feel was a little rough, but crisp. We decided to wash the sheets and give them a try. We figured they had been starched or something to be so crisp and would be more comfortable after washing. We were wrong, they came out of the dryer so wrinkled, they looked like they had been balled up for ages. After washing we put them on the bed where they fit perfectly. They were still wrinkled, but figured as long as they were comfortable, we'd be able to enjoy them. This wasn't the case, they just felt like poor quality sheets and came off the mattress several times thru the night. After the third time putting the fitted sheet back on the mattress, I balled them up, put our old sheets on and sent them back the next day. Thankful for Amazon's easy return policy, we had no problems retuing the sheets. After trying these sheets and seeing all the positive reviews, either some of the reviews aren't valid or there are many people who don't know what nice sheets are like. ... show more

They have been washed twice. They are still too "crisp" for my tastes. When I roll over and move the top sheet it makes "noise" and wakes me. They have not softened up much since the two washings. The bottom sheet is fine as it does not move much when rolling over. The pillowcases (king size) do not fit our king size pillows. The sheets come out quite wrinkled when I dry them exactly as specified. The only positive is that they do make a big difference in my sleeping "cooler". I do not wake up feeling miserable from being too hot. All in all, disappointed in them, especially because of the price...however I am keeping them because of the cooler sleeping temperature which is very important to me and why I got them in the first place. I will hope they soften up after a few more washings. ... show more
