I have used before on large cuts that also cut fabric beneath vinyl. Directions followed carefully and excellent, lasting, good looking result. Luckily black, so no need to mix colors. Used once and could only approximate color, but patch was good. Recently used for cut black vinyl car seat, cut didn't damage fabric underneath. Found that the spatula was useless for thin and long work, especially on sloped surface. Used a small acrylic artist brush instead with nice results, better control of both adhesive which tended to run and color which was also best placed with artist brush. Heater worked nice, good results again.

Used this product to repair a 1 inch tear in the back of a leather seat in my car. The results were not perfect but overall very good and the repair appears to be strong. I found the spatula included in the kit to be useless. You need a small stiff brush or small tip tool to apply the adhesive and color fill material accurately to the repair area. The instructions are very good and easy to follow - follow them! If you use tape to apply the grain backing paper, the tape can easily damage the paper and then you'll have a hard time reusing the grain paper. Use a painters tape that is low adhesion if you want to tape the grain paper. Overall this kit produced better results than I expected, but is not a 'perfect' repair.

My hubby got the bike he's always wanted. Problem is he's always wanted a 1996 Honda Goldwing so she's got a few age spots...one of which is a tear in the seat. I was a little nervous about this whole process but I watched a few YT videos and read the instructions over and over. This product is pretty easy to use but it would also be easy to screw up. Here are my tips for a successful end result. 1) Read instructions, watch videos for clarification. 2) The kit comes with a little application spatula. I wish it came with 2...one for adhesive and one for color. Keep it clean! I was using alcohol pads to clean off as I went. This worked great on the color but not so great with the adhesive. After the adhesive dried on the spatula I used a fine grit sandpaper to smooth the applicator back out. 3) Take your time and only apply what you need. You are supposed to wait 4 hours after applying the adhesive but it does dry to touch pretty fast. I wish I would have done one side of the tear...wait for it to dry and then the other for a smoother finish 4) Mixing the color. This leather was a real pain to match it's a dark brown w/ a hint of marron. Find videos on paint mixing if you need to. Color doesn't change a ton when dry 5) Apply color sparingly! You can always ad more. 6) I used painters tape to hold the grain pattern paper onto the surface. Let the area cool before removing. I could honestly apply more of the color but my husband and I both agreed to just let it be at this time. Is it perfect? No. Does it show under certain lighting? Heck yeah. I would 100% recommend if you're willing to take the time to do it correctly and understand it's limits.

It works fine... But not very good. I used it for steering wheel scratches. I had to buy a coloring spray to repaint the whole area because there is no possible way you can mix the colors (yellow, red, white and so on) to match the color that you have. Not to mention that if you want to make the pattern.... there are slight lines.... but not even by far the pattern that you would expect to fix it very good. It is among very few products that repair vinyl and leather and helps you reprint the pattern (at least to some extent) so.... you don't quite have much choice. As I said... it works but not great.

Work better than expected. There are a lot of botched jobs on YouTube when using this product. It works excellent, but requires some patience. Steps: Clean area w/ alcohol. Remove anything "sticking up" or threads. Add backing if needed. Apply cement, but dont over-fill, need room for color. LET SIT FOR 4 HOURS. Mix color - I started with black & dab of white - it turned out too light, so covered with just black. Select & tape grain paper. Apply color paste, start in middle, not too much - spread over edges very thin - dab the outer edge w/ q-tip to help blend. Cover & heat 1 min, start in middle work out to edge. Let sit for 2-3min - gently remove grain paper - if sticks or looks wet, put paper back on & reheat. The tape on the grain paper ensures the grain stays consistent when reheating. Color matching will be the biggest issue.

I gave this 1 star, but only because that is the lowest rating. Ladies and gentlemen, unless you have red, white, or black upholstery to match, this has no hope of working. The instructions tell you to make a small amount of the paste and match it to the leather or vinyl. Problem is, you start with their color chart, and the instructions as I followed them did not even come close to the chart, much less my car seat. No amount of adding base color (white) could fix it, and then, I ran out of white. That was it. Take my advice. Follow the recommendations of people here. They have made the mistake of buying this product and then reporting on it so that you would not make the same mistake. It seemed to me that there was just no other product to do this job. That means one thing: There is no product to fix this. Call an upholstery store.

This is a decent product. It doesn't give a perfect patch for a hole, but it will pass a glancing inspection. I had a hole in a dashboard top that was very noticeable. After application of a filler, a mixed patch and heat application. it looked pretty good. I did have to use the patch two more times to fill the defect. Afterwards, I polished it with a dashboard vinyl polish and touched up any areas with the black patch. My only complaint is that the second and third application of the patch never got very hard. However, overnight drying did the trick. So, a fair patch that is easy and will pass a cursory look.
