I place a smaller pan inside this giant one and place it under the drain plug. It sits on a big drip tray. Holds all the oil my Mercedes Sprinter diesel emptied. The plastic is thick and good quality; I would prefer a color that would show any dirty oil left. The only problem is pouring the dirty oil into a container, what a mess. It has an indent that fools you into thinking it would pour perfectly but dirty diesel oil went all over the outside of my oil container. The amount of the oil it holds causes the pan to be a bit heavy and more difficult to pour slowly, but I managed. I think the drain pain should have a more pronounced pour lip to help to get a more narrow pour. Other than that it is a sturdy pan that held the 11 quarts my Sprinter offered. ... show more

Look at the design! A very shallow pan with a small drain plug. When you pull the oil pan plug and 16 quarts of 20k mile diesel oil, where is it going to go? It will deflect from one of the 4 slightly sloped side EVERYWHERE! All over me, the driveway, and anywhere else it can find.
