  • I've had this since 2018 - 2025 update I've had this since 2018 - 2025 update
Size: 2.7 Gallon
**EDIT #1** The thermometer is not designed to be inside the tank. This was my fault, I was an idiot and did not read the instructions (who does that? idk) I had to remove it and do a full water change as it literally melted. I'm going to keep an eye on my little buddy the next few days to make sure it won't cause too much damage. Please read the instructions, don't make my same mistake D: *** Edit #2 Aug 18th, 2018 *** I started noticing my little buddy, who my team had named ATO, seemed to be getting fin rot on the back of his tail. This last few weeks I've been treating it, thinking it was due to the thermometer issue. After two weeks of treatment however, I soon learned it was because of a massive bacterial infection that was all over him. Poor thing :( I bought him from PetSmart after I had let the tank sit for about 2 weeks to let the system build the beneficial bacteria it needs to keep the tank clean. Thinking he was a beautiful tri-color beta with clear fins, I was sorely mistaken. All of the white areas on him before was a bactiera that was eating him alive! I've added a picture of what he looks like now alongside what he looked like before. There are still some portions of the infection on his face, but he is sooooooooo much better now. He really looks like a different fish. The tank is still holding strong and even with the medication I've mixed with the water, the glass is still as clear as it was on day one. *** EDIT #3 July 18, 2025 *** It's been almost a decade. This tank is still going strong and has turned into my quarantine tank. It functions as a decent beta tank! Though I would recommend getting a 5 gal or larger for your betta friend. The one I have here is the 2.7 gal. I was new and ignorant to the ways of the Betta world and what they needed, though I did get a lot right. I use this tank now to quarantine new plants, shrimp, fish, etc before I put them in my 10 gal tanks. I've never had to reseal it. The filter did end up breaking after about 3~4 years, the motor gave out. Overall this tank has been fantastic, the glass is in fact real glass as I've used a blade to clean off algae and there are no scratches left on the glass. It's still perfectly clear when clean and still functions just fine! However, the plastic lid has yellowed significantly and is showing it's age. The clips and the lid are still functional though, even if it is off color now. Leaving the original review intact, as it does cover some good points. Do your research! ************ I've had this tank for about a month now, and let me just say that for the price I bought it (about $40) it was well worth it. I've been looking to get a new betta fish buddy, and decided to get a smaller tank to have him by my desk. Look no farther for a great glass tank. This was the only glass tank I could find at this size with a filter, net, and thermometer. The net is nice, it's small, but I don't expect you would put any bigger fish in this tank, it's much too small for that. The thermometer IS NOT like it is in the pictures. If you stick it on the front of the tank, it will be backwards. The sticky side does not tell you the temp. I put it in the back of the tank, I'd rather have it hidden behind the plants anyway. The filter is great, I'm using my own medium instead of the charcoal filters (bio filters for the win :D) This setup is great for a single betta fish. In fact, the little boy I got loves his spacious new home. He actually started making a bubble nest in less than 24 hours! By the end of his first week in his new home he was absolutely in love with it. This tank has stayed clear (aside from when I first put everything in.) The whole thing arrived in great condition with no scratches. Just keep in mind if you have a betta in this tank, you will need to slow the water flow. You can see in the pictures I accomplished that by putting a sponge under it. I also stuffed a small bit down the intake tube so that it wouldn't ever get stuck to him, and he is able to swim right past it with no issues. The filter still works great. I'll link below the heater (a must if you are planning on getting a betta), table, plants, decorations, and type of sponge I used. Unfortunately I bought the sand and little house structure elsewhere. And these I got for the filter though I used VERY LITTLE of it (about 5 pieces of the media and 2 starter balls) so if you can find smaller packages go for it: Biohome Ultimate Filter Media, Aquarium bio filter Media (1 lbs) Biohome Ultimate Filter Media (Filter Starter Balls) remember to let the plants and filter set for at least a week or so before you add your little aquatic friend :D ... show more

  • Great little tank for the money. Great little tank for the money.
Size: 2.7 Gallon
I really like this little tank. It was actually a move up in size for my little gold fish. And yeah, I realize there are people who will insist that goldfish "can't" live in a tank this size. Mine have been living perfectly fine in a 2.5 gallon tank for the past 9 months (and about a third of that volume was taken by the internal pump). This tank is their new and improved home, and they love it. I replaced my previous acrylic aquaponic tank (which cost twice as much as this one) because I kept having leakage problems with it. I have all live plants, 2 small goldfish, and one very small plecostomus who keeps the algae away. The filter is very quiet (unless you don't have the top on it quite right and it vibrates). It seems to be doing an adequate job. I also turned the flow to low so that my fish could swim through the flow-zone. I've had no problems with it running, and no leaking problems. I haven't tried to buy replacement cartridges yet, hopefully they are obtainable. I received the correct top hinges, which at first I didn't think I'd use, because I thought they would obnoxiously stand out too much as being big and black. But they aren't bad at all, and without them, the top that comes with the aquarium will fall through. I slid the lid forward so that it overlaps the front of the tank (to me this isn't annoyingly noticeable) so that I could place a light bar across the back of the tank (I purchased an inexpensive 7" LED light bar off Amazon). If I placed my light on top of the lid, the light was reflected off the lid. This also allows enough space so you can lift the lid to feed or do water changes. Yes, condensation does build up on the lid. Of course it does - this is a cube of glass with water in it! You would see this in any open system of this style. If seeing condensation on the clear top of your tank will bother you, you should get a closed system with an opaque top (I personally really like the look of the clear top). I also don't find the lid to have "cloudy" issues as other reviews stated. Yes, it's rather thin plexiglass, but it's sturdy enough, and plenty clear other than the condensation. Maybe they didn't realize it comes with a protective sheeting that you have to remove! I wasn't sure how I would fee about the curved front edges, as they do visually distort (see my picture), but I've adjusted to seeing it, and I think the nice clean looking lines are well worth the distortion. If you are looking for a nice, small glass table top aquarium, this is a great value, and looks quite nice. I don't think you'll be disappointed! ... show more

  • Great beginner aquarium set and betta is happy as can be Great beginner aquarium set and betta is happy as can be
Size: 2.7 Gallon
after 4 months with this tank+kit, i believe i'm qualified to give an honest and helpful review. the set up was easy and everything was nicely packaged. they also included a net which was a bit too small for my betta bc he's a fast swimmer. the rounded glass gives a classy and elegant touch. the lid and hinges are kind of flimsy but at least i got the right hinges unlike many other reviewers. the lid and the filter work well. i also liked the included thermometer sticker. i was a bit skeptical of it so i also bought an electric thermometer and i found that the sticker is actually quite accurate! the filter is adjustable (strong and slow flow) but the lowest setting seemed kind of fast for my betta. over time, i found that the filter was very annoying. the water intake tube got clogged with so much algae, plant roots, debris and was hard to remove from the main filter when cleaning. i found that the filter seemed good as a biological filter and a basic mechanical filter but during water changes, i would notice a lot of debris. after 4 months, the filter died on me. i wasn't too disappointed because i couldn't even find replacement catridges and i was meaning to upgrade my betta to a sponge filter+air pump system. all in all, this tank is a great tank for beginners and my betta seems very happy here. one day, i hope to upgrade him to a bigger tank and potentially a community tank, but that's in the distant future:) tl;dr: this tank is cheap and great as a starter set because it gives everything you may need for a betta fish. many people seem to think that bettas can live in small decorative vases but they actually require at least a 2.5g tank with a filter. very pleased w my purchase! ... show more

  • It was perfect for me! It was perfect for me!
Size: 2.7 Gallon
This is an absolutely wonderful fish tank, it's exactly what I needed and wanted. It arrived extremely well packaged (in total- 4 boxes) and came with everything listed. I already own a small heater and a light fixture for my Betta fish, so I was very pleased to find this glass fish tank with just the missing piece I needed (a filter.) The filter is very quiet and arrived with a single carbon cartridge (I honestly wasn't sure if one was included, I did buy replacements too.) It was very easy to set up and it looks sleek and smooth. The filter does have an adjustable setting for the water flow but my Betta is having fun swimming against the flow when he feels like it. The tank is deep enough for him to sink to the bottom and simply relax. With the aid of the long silk plants I have he's able to anchor himself and rest on the surface easily. I do turn off the filter when I'm feeding him because the flow is too strong and throws his food around (you could easily decrease the flow issues by placing plants or something else in front of it.) The plastic lid is fine for me, it's nice to have it in order to keep the heat in, it's also helpful that the filter and heater are able to hang off the tank without any issues. The only issue I'm having with the lid is water clinging to it. All in all this was the perfect fish tank for me, I'm happy with the fact that it's not too big or too small. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, I'm happy with the quality and the price. 😊 UPDATE-- It's been 6 months and I'm still in love with my fish tank. I keep looking and reading reviews for another tank set up but I keep coming back to this one. I love that it's glass and there's NO reflective glare! The cost for a small heater and light on top of buying this tank is still worth the price (in my opinion.) I now have a small male Betta (RIP Jester) and African dwarf frog and the filter hasn't been bothersome for her. Now I just need to find room for another tank! 😆 UPDATE******** It's now been over a year and my fish tank is still awesome! I can't stress this enough, there is NO reflective glare, the filter is quite and I have room to put in my own filter media. My next tank will definitely be a Penn Plax, I purchased a 5 gallon Penn Plax from a different seller and it arrived broken, so I decided to try the 5.5 gallon Aqueon Glow fish tank and I HATE the reflective glare. ... show more

  • Not good for betta
Size: 2.7 Gallon
I bought this tank after researching and reading reviews. Everything stated that it was good for a betta fish. I have 4 bettas, in 4 separate 3 or 5 gallon tanks. The tank itself is lovely, low noise, easy to set up and clean. I placed my 2 yr old Dumbo betta in the tank and even at it's lowest setting, the filter was too strong. I decided to go first thing the next morning to buy a pre filter sponge but it was too late. My beautiful betta was sucked into the filter and died. I know this is my own fault, thinking one night would be ok. Please, if you invest in the tank, take precautions with the filter. Do NOT believe that adjusting to the lowest setting is enough, buy a sponge to cover the filter. I'm just sick that I lost my fish to such an avoidable tragedy. ... show more

  • Aquascaping Possibilities! Better than 1 gallon Betta Kits!
Size: 2.7 Gallon
Came well packaged. The items that it came with work great too, the filter is quiet, flow adjustable (!!!) though the cartridge is a bit gimmicky. I'd definitely add your own sponge +extra media, and there's a bit of room in there for that. Thermometer is fine and the net is perfect. I wish that it came with a heater though! Or at least some clip-on led lights. The glass Aquarium is well made, with rounded edges in the front. I know that most Betta fish lovers are against tanks below 5 gallons, but my tank is filled tastefully with aquascaped layers, levels, tall live plants/moss balls, and nooks for him to explore. And of course the layers enable there to be resting places for the fish to rest near the surface. -Please consider this vs. the sad, barely-one gallon Betta kits for your kids.- If price is an issue, this starter tank is comparable to those. Just make sure there are resting spots for the Betta near the surface. If you choose other fish, or shrimp; have hiding spots, but make sure not to overcrowd. I chose this tank because it's a bit more vertical, so you have some room to play with the scenery, but you can still carry the tank without straining your back to the sink for a thorough, easy cleaning. (There's only so much one can do with a gravel vacuum) ... show more

  • Overpriced
Size: 5 Gallon
I bought 2 five gallon aquariums. Let’s start with what I like. I like the cube shape and I love how the front glass is curved for unobstructed viewing. The glass is durable, good sealant, and weighs less than what I expected. I like that it comes with a thermometer and small net suitable for small tetras, mollies or bettas. I like that it has a pad that you place underneath the glass of the aquarium so the glass isn’t directly against the surface. I like that the hang on back filter is small and modern looking. Now for what I don’t like. It does not come with a heater. It does not come with a light. The plastic lid is nothing fancy, not that it has to be, but for the price I paid for two aquariums... meh. The black attachment clips for the lid are a little more flimsy than what I was expecting. Although the filter is modern looking, as soon as I started it for the first time, it was leaking where the intake tube rests on the filter. I will most likely not use the hang of back filter and use a sponge filter. I honestly don’t know how I feel about this purchase. It’s not horrible to the point where I want to return it because that’s too much work for shipping costs to be taken out of my refund. What I got for the price of their five gallon, was a durable cube of sturdy glass and good sealant, a thermometer that’s like $1.50 at the pet store, an “OK” lid of cheap plastic, and a net (in which I already have like 10 as a fish hobbyist). I will not purchase again only because there are significantly cheaper options on Amazon. I will be purchasing the other 5 gallon cube shaped aquariums that you can find. ... show more

  • Great
Size: 2.7 Gallon
I bought two of these back in 2018 and as of 2025, they’re both in fine shape. They’ve been in use all this time, and there are no leaks, no problems. One contains a brackish water shrimp colony and the salinity doesn’t affect the glue of the tank. Very nice looking and proportioned little tanks. They’re forever associated with good memories of starting my fish keeping hobby! ... show more
