Best Reel ive ever used, I use it mostly in the ocean for rockcod/stripebass halibut and shark! The drag is perfect, but the best/valuable feature about the Clash, you can drop it in the sand, water or mud and nothing gets into the gear components!! great reel. i'm using with my 10' surf rod and it casts great. also, it has no problem pulling in a 28" striper from the rocks. it is a bit on the heavy side though.

    • Bail keeps hitting spool!
Penn CLA6000 Clash Spinning Reel I was excited to open the box and inspected a reel with excellent reviews, and was looking forward to adding this reel to my line up. I had the reel spooled at local tackle shop with 50 lb test power pro braid. I had put the spool on a Tsunami Trophy Series rod that has been very productive for me. Once the season started I found that the bail hits the spool at the top of the retrieve "cycle". I checked that the spool was properly seated it is. The reel has landed a few fish and Im quite happy with it, other than the spool cant be towards the top when bring back the bail to cast or retrieve... The bail needs to be a little bigger IMO. ... show more

    • great medium action reel so far
great medium action reel so far. I bought it to replace my 15 years of saltwater use and still working penn 6500ss. very smooth drag and retrieve. casts 30lb line like the spinfisher casts 15. Haven't hooked a large fish with it yet but it seems up to the challenge...
