I gave this 5 stars because I'm rating it for what it is - for $500 beans you get an entire drum set. This has every piece of hardware you need, including a hi-hat and a crash/ride cymbal. You even get a stick bag with a couple pairs of sticks in it, which is also a good place to stash your drum key. I bought this as a first set for my son. I have been a drummer for 30 years. Are there better sounding, higher quality drum heads than the ones that comes with this? Yep, and you can slap them on some day when you've worn the ones that come with it to shreds because they're sufficient enough. Are there better, prettier looking and sounding cymbals? Yes, and If you're knowledgeable about drums, you know it's not hard to spend the price of this kit on a single cymbal with a quality stand. The cymbals that come with this aren't at all bad sounding, and they're much better than the ones I've seen on other cheaper kits. Some of the bargain basement ones literally sound like you're smashing on trash can lids, these don't - they sound like proper cymbals. I commend Pearl for being able to present a kit of this quality for this price, and recommend it for anyone - even just the guy/gal who has always wanted a set to smash on, they're great and well built, and also have room for upgrading and customizing over time. I got him the Red (Wine colored) ones and the paint job as always, is gorgeous.

This is a nice set. I bought the New Fusion configuration. True, as many have remarked, you're likely to want to upgrade a few things. Some suggest changing the heads. The heads on the snare are actually not bad. The rest of the heads are all single ply mylar. Not fond of those on the beater side myself. The 'metal' is really not bad quality but the 'brass' metal has to go. The cymbals are really only for show. You can't play them. Or, maybe I should say you wouldn't want to. So, plan to spend some money on replacements more or less right away. I lucked out and found a set of Zildjian S Series for a great price. Those and two more stands fixed me on that score. Other than heads and cymbals, you really are all set with a fairly good quality set of traps. It's not maple nine ply shells you're getting with premium hoops, mounts, and premium finishes. All THAT may be in your future when your wallet is fatter. BTW, you DO get a Drummer's Throne with the kit. it's serviceable, but not for long sessions. Your posterior might want something slightly larger and plusher for lengthy seating, but a Throne IS included.

An excellent full-size drum set that comes with everything needed to get started. It arrived in two medium-large boxes (easily fit in the back of my SUV - but would probably be pretty tight fitting in a normal size trunk). I only had to assemble and tune the Bass Drum and the Floor Tom. All other drums came already assembled (and tuned!). From in-the-box to total setup, time was about an hour (not in a rush while I worked). The cymbals are acceptable, but I wanted a specific sound and the hi-hat and crash that come with this kit are not of the highest quality. But, like I said, I wanted a specific sound. The hi-hat pedal and the base-drum pedal are very responsive. The thrown is sturdy. This drumset is perfect for the price. 5 stars, easily. Whether you are a new drummer or a seasoned pro, there are aspects of this drumset that you will love. The seasoned pro will probably only want MORE (another medium sized tom, and a higher quality cymbal kit will make this a dream set).

Amazing drum kit for the cost! Wanted to give it five stars, but I have to be honest and drop it a hair due to the thinness and lack of durability of the 16 inch crash cymbal that came with the kit. Replaced with two 18 inch crash cymbals from Meinl and replaced all drum heads with Evan’s UV-2 coated snare and tom heads. Now the kit is a 10 Star kit!

You get exactly what it says and what you pay for, not the highest quality but not the worst either, a good mid grade pearl set for beginners to grow into or intermediate to get better.

This is a fantastic entry level set of drums for the price. Everything came packaged well in 2 large boxes. Some assembly required, but that is all part of the fun. With a set of premium heads and a set of dampers, this set is sounding like a $4,000 set. The cymbals that came with it aren’t Zildjian or Paiste, but they’re fine. I ordered a Zildjian 22” ride with a boom stand to compliment it. I will probably order a high end throne later, but the one that comes with it is just fine. If you’re on the ropes about this set, don’t hesitate, order it now. This deal won’t last forever.

Love the set, clean, well made, good sound, nice stands. chrome, paint and hardware good quality. Only thing I suggest is a couple more cymbal stands and throw the 2 Pearl cymbals out.. Get a good 4 pack of Zildjians or similar for a great sounding set. Good deal!

Actually saw a band on Jimmy Fallon with the drummer playing the same drums with upgraded cymbals. Easy set up, upgradable with new skins. The shells are good. Stool is not the best I use a taller wooden stool.
