  • Pearl Road Show 5 Piece Rock Drum Set
This is my second Pearl Road Show 5 Piece Drum Set I purchased online, last one in 2016. Every single item, all hardware including tension rods, drum shells, batter and resonant heads, stands, every single piece was in the contents of two delivered boxes to assemble the complete drum kit. The drum shells came with the burnt orange color, the color was not quite the orange I anticipated; it seemed a little more of a dark shade of red than orange, but that was OK. This may have been due to the photography shown online. The drum shells arrived in perfect condition not damaged or cracked, the machined edges were very well finished. I swopped some of the delivered packaged items such as some of the cymbal stands, the stock Pearl cymbals and throne with upgrades I purchased in the past. The kit included some extras like a very nice-looking Pearl drum stick bag, pair of drum sticks, a Pearl Drum set Poster that I mounted on the wall and a drum tuning key. I am using the stock Pearl drumheads, they seem OK for now but will upgrade them later in the year. The drums have a very nice tone once they are tuned to liking, the kit is a ton of fun to play and I would recommend any beginner or a drummer needing to gig on to purchase this drum set. I am very happy with this purchase and it was a very fair price. ... show more

  • Compact, all-in-one beginner drum set.
Size: Jazz Color: Red Wine
You get a lot for your money here. The drums, hardware, cymbals, sticks, stick bag, drum key, posters. Now for the quality.... The wrap on my bass drum shell came loose in one corner. I managed to press it back into round but it definitely worries me for future head changes. Will update if I run into any issues. With that out if the way, I can't complain about anything else. The bass pedal, hihat stand, and snare stand are impressive for this price point and being packaged with a beginner kit. Tom arm and cymbal arm are ok, they get the job done. Hihat cymbals are nice, not too loud and you make them pretty crispy. Crash cymbal is not as good as hihats, but still easy on volume which is great if that's a concern for you. The throne is on the smaller side, good for children, pre-teens. Keep that in mind if you're buying for someone bigger. I had no issues with shells or hoops on the drums themselves, everything tuned up nicely, even with the stock pearl heads. Volume is somewhat controlled, due to the smaller sizes, making it good for home jamming. Sound quality is what you expect from poplar at this price point, but it does have good tone, and if you know how to tune, these little drums can sound GREAT. Just throw some O-rings on these tubs, and they sound like a pre-EQ'd studio recording. Pearl has setup videos on their website that cover initial assembly, tuning, and even playing for these kits. You can tell they're trying hard to make this line accessible for newcomers, and anyone really. All in all, for the money you're spending you get decent quality, and being able to play right out of the box is a HUGE plus if you're a young newcomer who doesn't have the time, money, or stamina to be rodeo-ing with these drum companies, looking for good, dependable hardware that won't break the bank. If you're a parent looking to get beginner drums for your kid, or even an adult who just wants a small practice kit to groove on, this kit is a solid choice. ... show more

  • Learning to Drum at Fifty-One!
Size: Rock Color: Charcoal Metall
As a music junkie, I've always been interested in all musical instruments. I thought the drums were beyond me, especially at my age. But no amount of reason can stop an old lady from pursuing her dreams right? I decided to treat myself to this kit for Christmas. When it first arrived, I admit that I thought I'd made a huge mistake. The kit is stunning, I was able to figure out how to tune the drums, etc., but I didn't have much confidence in my abilities or lack thereof. Turns out I was right to trust my initial instinct. I have been playing the kit every single day since I got it and I've been able to pick it up quite well. Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks, as long as you're willing to be a little patient. This kit is really beautiful and professional. I've since gone and looked at kits in stores and haven't seen anything I liked any better, and at this price, you really can't go wrong. Like others have said and anyone who sells a kit will tell you, the cymbals and drum heads that come with a kit are usually pretty inferior. This kit can easily grow with you though, and I've already made a number of changes/additions. I immediately changed out the stock bass and tom drum heads with Remo heads and the snare with an Evans HD Dry. I also replaced the snare wires with PureSound Custom Pro. I purchased a telescoping cymbal stand and then bought a package of Meinl cymbals and hi-hats. The difference in sound quality between stock and upgrades is outstanding, even with lower-end cymbals. If you are getting old and creaky like me and have back problems, I highly recommend you spend the money on a solid throne because you won't want to drum for long on the stock throne unless you enjoy having a numb butt, sore tailbone and aching lower back. Likewise, your aging ears will thank you if you protect them with some Vic Firth isolation headphones. Special note: I opted for the 5 piece kit, so I have 3 floor toms. I found that having the two on the right was really awkward for me, especially in trying to learn fast fills. I ended up moving the middle tom over to the top right of my snare, so I have two floor toms there and the bass tom on the right. See the photos. First photo is the kit as originally laid out. Second and third are current setup. Bonus Cat Review: PROS: Is shiny. CONS: Is not for sits. Is loud. Is hateful. No. I write honest reviews because I count on them myself when making a decision about purchasing. If my review was helpful to you, please mark it as such. Thank you! ... show more

  • Good for Beginners
Size: New Fusion Color: Aqua Blue Glitter
Went with this as it seems it's a pretty high-end beginner drum kit. Easy to assemble (watched Youtube video). The more you start playing it, the more you will start customizing it to create a richer sound. I replaced the cymbals and drum heads - so now it sounds more fun to play.

  • It’s a pearl set, can’t go wrong
Size: New Fusion Color: Pure White
You get exactly what it says and what you pay for, not the highest quality but not the worst either, a good mid grade pearl set for beginners to grow into or intermediate to get better.
