These Pearl Export drums are the best bang for your buck. I would consider these to be mid-level drums, not entry-level. These are very good quality drums. They are made in China. Don’t let the that scare you, the shells are manufactured very well, and sound nice. For most applications, the shells and the sound should be fine. If I was recording in a studio, perhaps better drums would make sense. For jamming in my home or playing small gigs, these drums are perfectly fine. To hear the sound before you buy, there are lots of videos on YouTube of folks playing on Pearl Export kits. The stands are adequate, there are heavier stands out there, but these are plenty sturdy for me. The hi-hat and bass drum pedal are good. I may upgrade to a double bass drum pedal at some point, but the stock P930 single pedal is fine. It offers lots of adjustments to get the feel to your liking. I wanted to also comment that these drums are packed masterfully in three separate boxes. The packaging engineers at Pearl did a great job in developing packaging that keeps the drums safe during shipping. It’s amazing they got a whole drum kit in three boxes: one large, one medium and one small box. I did replace the stock made in China Remo heads with Evans Hydraulic heads because I prefer the deeper, fatter sound. The Evans website is great for evaluating the different drumhead options. This kit includes everything except cymbals. One of the entry-level cymbal packs by any of the major cymbal manufacturers would work fine. I opted to buy my cymbals used simply because I wanted Zildjian A series and didn’t want to spend a ton. One final suggestion on expandability, you can order 8”, 10” and 14” toms separately and add them to your kit. For this reason I went with the standard EXX725/C kit which has the 12”, 13” & 16” toms. If you order the kit with the 10”, 12” and 14” toms, you limit your expandability (being able to only add a 8” tom) if that is important to you. In summary, I recommend these drums to anyone who wants a good value in a drum kit. I am very happy with my purchase!

Made the same mistake , why do they put up a pic that doesnt match the product shipped? I am returning it because guitar center has a good set that includes cymbals and its 699.

I received the drum kit before the predicted shipping date. It was sent in two parts but even so, both parts arrived quicker than expected. The set took around an hour to set up and tune, and I was playing in no time! It's solid, sounds great, and while I myself have no intention to take it down and set it up for playing gigs, if that's your plan this kit will help assist to that end. I don't play a lot but when I do, I smile and am glad I made this purchase.

Amazon wouldn't let me leave shipping feedback for some reason. The boxes arrived with small tears and holes in them. I was hoping the drums were packaged well enough to have avoided any damage. I was not so fortunate. The Bass drum had a huge crack and dent in the rim because there was absolutely no cushion between the drum edge and the bottom of the box. Now I don't know if this is the fault of Amazon or UPS delivery . I feel like Amazon should have packaged the boxes up inside another box with cushioning for another layer of packaging. Our son could not enjoy his Christmas present Christmas morning because of this. The drums that weren't damaged were lovely looking and the hardware seems very sturdy. I spent a lot of time researching a good beginner drum set for our son and this one seems to be the one....but I can't say for sure since he never got to use them. We are sending them back today and reordering from the Pearl website. I hope they arrive in better condition this time.

Let us start with it shipped early. I am new to drums, and it has been a learning process for me, since I got them. When I started, they sounded like trash, but as I have been learning, the sound has gotten better and better. I would highly recommend a DrumDial to tune them, as that has been the one thing that jump started the sound getting so much better on them. Only negative note is that the bass drum shipping box showed up damaged, but the drum was packed well enough that it was undamaged. Final note, FUN FUN FUN!

Pearl is a solid drum set. I am self-taught but I can play ok and I have to tell you, i use this drum set in studio. You can always add to it later but with this set, you can play live and it will sound great (just make sure you get the Ziljian cymbals).
