This is a very well designed kit, which fits perfectly inside its carrying case. My daughter is a small child, and the fact that it is on rollers is a BIG plus. Btw - she loves practicing on it! It is a fun instrument to play, and it is sturdy and ergonomic.

My son chose percussion for grade 4 band. After searching all the sets, we found this to be the best-rated and were familiar with the Pearl brand. It's impeccably packed and very well-organized. The sticks are adequate but basic so we upgraded those by choice not by necessity. The set works fine as is. There is only one base for the stands which is the only way this set fails in comparison to others, but he's only using one instrument at a time in lessons, so for him it doesn't matter. At home we set the xylophone out on a table so he has access to both all the time. Great quality.

This kit was exactly what my son needed for 6th grade band percussion. He is very happy with it. The only complaint I have from him is that the music stand piece is flimsy, there is no stopper to keep the bells on the stand (it seems like there should be a nut or bolt that was missing with ours), and when he had everything in the rolling bag it doesn't stand up very well if he wants to set it aside. It is top heavy and will fall over so he just lays the bag down on the ground. Other than those 3 minor complaints, he is very happy with it and the instrument does what it should do and sounds nice. It is a great starter piece and the price isn't bad for a young kid learning to play.

We only had the set since June, and only used sparingly by an 8 year old. The drum stick tip snapped? Really? Isn't the idea that the drum sticks are solid enough to use on a drum pad and a snare? Does anyone know how to contact Pearl to make a complaint? Update: Sent Pearl a picture of the broken drum stick, and they sent a new set out! Thanks Pearl! Changing to 4 stars. Sticks are not too expensive, and the kits include good instruments, so I don't know why they don't just include really good sticks to begin with. Why even make sub-par sticks? Hurts their brand. The sticks are the lowest cost item in a kit. Not worth risking customer dissatisfaction over something that is low margin to begin with.

For less than the cost of renting a no-name kit from the band supplier, we bought this kit for our beginning band student. If she decides she likes band this will defiantly last until she upgrades in HS. If she decides band is not for her these will defiantly move in the second hand market on FB. Priced perfectly and good quality for a beginner.
