EDIT: After around 6 months the microphone failed completely. I contacted PDP customer service and they sent a whole new pair which seems to have no issues. My kids have used the new pair for seveal months with no issues. I'm going to upgrade this review to 4 stars for the killer customer support and since it seems I just got a bad one before. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I suspect something is defective in the headphone jack on these; perhaps it is not machined correctly. The problem is that the mic does not work when used on my Switch. The mic works on other devices, and it even works on the switch if I plug it into an extension cable and then plug that into the Switch, but it won't work if I just plug it in directly. The headphone functionality appears to work fine on all devices. This is okay for me since I use an extension cable, but it is very peculiar behavior considering it does not seem to work well with the exact device it is targeting. Note that you have to flip the mic down in order to turn it on. This is a really neat feature because it allows you to mute just by moving the mic up. We bought these a year ago for my son - worked great until the mic stopped working about 2-3 months ago. Purchased a new set, mic didn’t work out of the box. We tried everything - reading all of the manufacture details, troubleshooting via manufacturer and third party folks online. Finally decided to return them for a new set. New set came, and the mic *still* doesn’t work. Again, going through all of the prompts to troubleshoot it for the Switch, and even more specifically Fortnite. I am not sure if we are doing something wrong - I really want them to work for my son! But if we are doing something wrong, the instructions need to provide more insight and information about making them work. Like if they aren’t going to work out of the box - can we please have more info on how to make them work? Why do i need to go through 15-20 steps to troubleshoot them each time I purchase them? It’s been pretty frustrating, a waste of time, and my son hasn’t been able to talk to his friends online for over a month because of all of this.
