  • Don't Buy for Ryzen
Size: 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz Kit
I'm sure the performance is fine on Intel platforms but I could not get the memory to run above 2133 on Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 motherboard even after bios updates and configuration changes. I just wished they had mentioned a lack of board support on Ryzen platforms. Like I said I'm sure the memory is fine quality the inadequate information sucks though ... show more

  • Doesn't hit anywhere near advertised speed
Size: 16GB (2x8GB) 3600Mhz
Ordered the 3600mhz sticks. I dislike RGB and was going for a solid black aesthetic, and these were some of the only DDR4 sticks that met both of those criteria. I love the look, so despite having no reviews, I figured I would try it. Unfortunately, that was a poor decision. These sticks do not hit anywhere near the advertised speed. XMP kept them at the bare minimum of 2144MHz. Manually selected 3600MHz, and my computer stopped booting. Thankfully my motherboard BIOS has a fail-safe that resets RAM speed upon several failed boots, or I would be hosed. I had to step it down by hand one step at a time until at 3000MHz my PC would finally boot. Given that I am running a Ryzen 7, 3000MHz on "3600MHz" sticks isn't acceptable. Wondering if it was my other hardware, I purchased some 3600MHz Corsair Vengeance sticks. Set them to 3600MHz, PC booted no problem and has had no issues since. I figured I would give these sticks a shot based on looks despite their being no reviews, but there you have it. Definitely cannot recommend these to anyone who is buying them for the speed. If you're okay with 3000MHz and really like the looks, then maybe, but otherwise pass. ... show more

  • In general, the Patriot Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 is a very high-quality product.
Size: 16GB (2x8GB) 4000Mhz
Finally, the DDR4-4000 Patriot Viper Blackout 4 PVB416G400C9K memory kit arrived, installed without any problems on the XMP profile with a frequency of 4000 MHz and timings 19.19, 19, 39. It successfully passed all stress tests, shows high speeds and stability. I got into the be quiet cooler without any questions! DARK ROCK PRO 4, without removing it, since the height of the strips is only 42.6 mm. A big plus is the use of Samsung B-die chips. For those who do not want to bother with overclocking is the best option. For those who want to overclock the memory has a good overclocking potential. To ensure cooling, it has massive radiators. Strict black appearance gives solidity to the kit. In general, I advise everyone to buy. Effective cooling; High frequency; Relatively compact dimensions of the radiator; Good overclocking potential; Limited lifetime warranty; Nice strict design; Use of Samsung B-die chips. ... show more

  • Needs to run at CR2, or looser timings.
Size: 16GB (2x8GB) 3600Mhz
I won't say there's anything inaccurate about the previous review-- at the default timings of 17-19-19-19-39, I can't get these sticks to boot. CPU is a Ryzen 3700X, board is an Asus X570-P. If I manually set the CMD2T option to 2T in my BIOS and also disable Gear Down Mode, however, they boot just fine and pass a complete memtest-- it might be relevant that 2T is the default command rate on *Intel* platforms. The package says Ryzen-Ready, but perhaps they were tested on Intel? Alternatively, they boot just fine with CR1 and a CAS of 18-22-22-22-42, which are not coincidentally the timings used by any of Corsair and G-Skill's cheap 3600Mhz kits. I'd get another brand if I was buying again, just for additional peace of mind. ... show more

  • Wrong spec this is XMP 1 4000 19 19 19 39 or XMP 2 3868 18 22 22 40
Size: 16GB (2x8GB) 4000Mhz
I am doing a build for my sister and her family and wanted some "cheap" b die so I could play and tweak because that is half of the fun for me in doing a build. I am not sure what the deal is as the manufacture list this as " Tested Timings: 19-21-21-41" yet running Thaiphoon Burner, CPUZ or other software shows different timings for XMP. Maybe they do this so they can say they only guarantee 4000 19 21 21 for warranty purpose? Anyway I ordered my first kit and it was listed as "Condition: Used - Very Good - Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged." When I received it the shipping box was fine but inside the ram box itself was pretty much flat like it had been ran over by a car. I thought the ram would be in pieces but it looked OK after I opened it. One stick ended up being bad and would not let the computer boot,. But the stick that works show this is some very good ram. I have some 3200 14 and 4400 18 Gskill and this Viper 4 4000 is as good as those for high speeds and being able to tighten the timing with the one stick that I could test out. It is going to vary on your board and also memory/silicon lottery but the 1 working stick I did mess with a little did 4400 18 18 18 @ 1.4 easy. I didn't try higher but I might mess with it since I cant send it back until tomorrow with today being a holiday. I like this stuff so much i ordered another kit and I hope that both stick work on the new stuff because this is hard to beat for the performance and price of b die. I paid over $225 for the 4400 kit I have and $175 for the 3200 14 kit and this Viper will do the same or close for half the price. Also it has a nice solid heat sink in a neutral color. Not too tall so it still fits under the front fan on a BE Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4. Another killer deal that was listed as "damaged" but was like new and I scored off of Amazon warehouse for $51. What a deal! I know sometimes the used stuff can be junk but 99% of the time I have bought used from Amazon it looks like new and works perfectly and I have saved a lot over new. ... show more

  • Does what RAM does.
Size: 8GB (2x4GB) 3000Mhz
You can get by with 8gb of RAM. 16gb if you want to be futureproof. Edit: You do not want a kit of 8gb of RAM if you are planning to use an iGPU (like with the Ryzen 3400G). Because the iGPU has zero VRAM and needs to draw 2gb from your RAM. This means that for something like a Ryzen 3400G, you will only have 6gb of RAM, and this is not good. 8gb of RAM is already on the low side albeit fine, but 6gb is not fine. I purchased new 16gb of RAM, plugged them in, and I was having 10+ more fps on almost every game. I was quite shocked. Conclusion: If your graphics card has some VRAM, then 8gb isn't that bad for now. But if you're using an iGPU like I am, then you'll need more than 8gb. ... show more
