Just moments ago, I received my Parker Jotter Fountain Pen. Right out of the box, I put in the provided ink cartridge and within a few moments my pen was writing smoothly! The nib has been the smoothest I've used, with very little feedback as I wrote a few test sentences on a sheet of paper. I am so looking forward to continue with my photo-journaling.     • Easy to carry classic Jotter style

I have always liked the style of the brushed stainless Parker Jotter pens. I bought this pen along with a Parker Jotter Stainless ballpoint pen and Parker Jotter mechanical pencil, making a nice set of matched pens and pencil. This pen really works best with Parker Quink cartridges. Black Quink is one of the blackest fountain pen inks but it is not totally permanent. I prefer the blue Parker Quink cartridges for this pen, which is a rich medium dark hue. Blue Quink is a washable blue, like most blue inks. The Parker cartridges are a sort of expensive way to buy ink but are very convenient. ... show more

I put the Jotter (Blue and Silver) next to the IM (Red and Black) (both by Parker) in the photo for size comparison. The Jotter is much more narrow and has a more sleek design. This makes it harder for me to hold and increases fatigue since it requires a tighter grip. I have also included a photo where the color coating has chipped off. This is from normal use, I have never dropped this pen and after only a few months of use it has begun to show wear. It is not a bad pen, but you should know it is smaller, more narrow, and not as high quality as other pens by the same maker. Last year I had nerve pain in my left arm, I discovered I could write better with a fountain pen. The Parker was my first fountain pen. After this purchase I have purchased several fountain pens that were much more expensive, but I must say the Parker still is the smoothest writing of all my pens.
