  • Fine Pen
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
The Parker fountain pen has hardly changed since the 70's when I had to use it for school! I love the ease of the flow of ink, comfortable to hold, and the general look of a fine pen. I like to use this pen for invitations, Christmas cards, etc. I like the Parker blue ink as opposed to the darker ink most pens have.( probably for nostalgic reasons.) It only comes with the one ink cartridge, so will have to buy refills. ... show more

  • 7/10 good pen
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
pros: i have to warn my coworkers every day to not steal my pen. it’s a fantastic conversation starter. it’s gorgeous. cons: the nib writes with a 0.7 mm line, does not split with pressure for calligraphy. when i use it very often, the base can come unscrewed and the pen becomes loose. the cap does not stay very well on the back of the pen. adding an ink cartridge might require more force than very arthritic hands can manage. the ink washes out with a water spill, so don’t drop your documents/sketchbook/notes or let it get rained on. pros: very good flow from the nib, but not overly so. ive had it for a month and a half and it hasn’t ink-stained anything. it rescrews easily when it becomes loose from overuse (see above) and is only noteworthy if gone unnoticed for too long, as then the whole thing will fall apart. it’s happened twice to the extent that i was confused why the nib kept turning when i tried to write, an easy fix. apparently can work with an adapter for other ink cartridges if you want to change the ink to a different brand or color. i love the arrow styling of the clip on the cap. it’s a gorgeous pen for a newbie to quill-tip fountain pens, fancy enough for a nice gift without being overly expensive or overly complicated. great for an icebreaker at work, school, or on the go; see a cutie? whip this bad boy out and write up a grocery list on a napkin, bada bing bada boom, now you’re talking and you’ve got a grocery list. add a malbec to it, you might try it later with the cutie over dinner. ... show more

  • Left-handed review
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
This is my second fountain pen, and I am very happy with it. I would have been thrilled to have received this as a gift, and I would have assumed that it cost more than I paid. Line weight: My first was a medium weight Manuscript from Hobby Lobby (about $16-$20 I think). I saw some reviews of this Parker pen saying that it has more of a medium tip than a fine tip; however, this pen can write much more finely than my Manuscript. Nevertheless, this Parker pen can create lines almost as bold as my medium Manuscript, given enough pressure. I like this variation in line weight (though I am not yet skilled at it). Ink: This is also the second ink I have ever tried. Overall, I prefer it to the ink that came with my Manuscript, but there are some draw backs. The Manuscript ink tended to bleed more on some paper (like that in my paper-bound moleskin, which are my favorite and on which this Parker writes beautifully), but it also dries marginally faster than this Parker ink. I do like the color of blue in this Parker ink, but once dried, it has a rather low contrast with the paper that I dislike. I plan on trying Parker's black ink to see if it has the same problem or not. One advantage to this low contrast, however, is that it visually signals the driness of the ink. Left-handedness: I am a lefty (over-writer), and this pen works very well for me. While the ink does dry a little slower than the Manuscript ink I have tried in the past, I have less smudging overall because I can write smaller. In fact, I have only smudged with this pen while testing to see if the ink has dried, never by accident while writing. Price: I am completely satisfied and very happy with what I paid for this pen. Being new to the fountain pen game (and being a lefty), I am hesitant to drop big money, but I am glad I bought this pen. Nevertheless, now a week after purchase, I see that the price has increased by about 40% of what I paid. I don't think Amazon likes reviews to mention specific dollar amounts, so I will have to leave it at this: I am thrilled with the price I paid, but I would not have gone out a limb for this purchase at the price it is currently listed. ... show more

  • Really missing the old Parker’s!
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
Writing is good, but, please, bring the elegant old Parker design and details back! I was upset with the rough design features and sent it back. My old Parker’s arrow design on the cap was so delicate and nice. This new design looks like a clumsy relief of an arrow. Sad.

  • Not a very fine nib
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
It is a fine nib...it writes wider than a medium nib. A beautiful pen if you like a thicker line.

  • Great replacement
Style: Gift Box Color: Black Lacquer Golden Trim
This pen replaced a gold-nibbed Parker I've had for more than 30 years. I've worn the nib down on that and it is a medium nib. Been wanting a fine point nib. This one is stainless, which made me a bit cautious. I've been using this pen for a couple of months now and love it. Smooth and delightful to write with. ... show more
