I let it set for 36 hours before placing the paper towels on the holder. This is a great little item! It does have stickers to use to put it up underneath your counter, but we prefer that it was screwed in to stay sturdy and in place. For the price, it’s great. However, if you plan to keep it if you move, I wouldn’t count on that. When I moved, there was no easy peel-off. It’s super secure, but if you want to keep it, it will be destroyed in the removal process. “Destroyed” = stainless steel base that adheres to the wall was totally bent by the time I got it off.
