So, a couple years ago we got a portable dishwasher which taught me the joys of portable appliances. So I knew these existed but with a laundry room in the corner of our building just a few doors and a flight of stairs away- we didn't really see the point in getting one. Then I got hurt. Even though the laundry room isn't that far, those stairs otoh were *painful* for me so, since the husband was on the road, we started talking about getting a portable washing machine. We eventually decided against it when the husband changed vocations to a tech gig where he can work from home. He's home to help me so, that kind of killed that. Then 2020 came. And the coin shortage hit. And stuck around for several *months.* And, the conversation came up yet again. Third time is the charm I guess cause, he caved. :D So, these are my initial impressions and if there's anything else I encounter over the coming months, I'll post it below. Is it easy? For us, it worked right out of the box. With an adapter already installed on the kitchen faucet for the dishwasher, the quick release hose fit just fine already-- in fact, the only thing we "had" to buy was a dolly but that was only because we're on the second floor and it's quieter (and slightly easier) to roll in and out of position than the wheels that it already has. Were we on the ground floor, we wouldn't have bothered. So, extra points for the little wheels. They were a nice touch. I also like the separate options- for example it can do just a rinse and spin or even just a spin if you want as well as adjust the water level. These have already proven useful for us since if you're going to overload it (and let's face facts, *everyone* overloads *any* washing machine at *some* point) you can throw it through an extra wash or an extra rinse or whatever. That's actually kinda nice. The handholds were a thoughtful touch as well. As were the little hooks for the power cord and the drain hose. In fact, I really like the drain hose holder thing so that you can just hook it onto something (like a dish rack for example) and not have to worry about it flopping out of the sink. Water pressure is also low enough that it doesn't cause the hose to jerk around either. So, good job on the details. Now, how loud is it? Obviously, the heavier the load-- the louder it's going to be but, so far? With a normal load, it's actually quieter than my dishwasher even when it spins. The only loud thing about it is the beep at the end of the cycle but, honestly? The beep isn't any louder than my microwave or even my instapot. In fact, it's the exact same beep as both my instapot and my dishwasher. Go figure. lol. Point is that in an open concept apartment, the husband can be working his phone job in the living "room" area while the washing machine is in the kitchen and neither customers nor bosses on the phone can hear anything other than the beeps. (He's claiming that a dump truck is backing up outside if he forgets to hit the mute when it comes to an end.) Finally, how much can it wash? Obviously, it's portable so it's not going to handle the same amount as a full sized machine but, otoh, it's not coin operated so you can go to town and wash whenever you want. ;) Basically? I managed to get a Full sized comforter that was a bit on the thin side through with a little babysitting. Yeah, it took a little manipulating of the load partway through and two rinses but, it went through and since that's the largest item that we have in regular use, that's okay. Now, I would probably prefer the coin op for it because while it came out cleaner, I can't bet my life on it coming out as absolutely clean as it can possibly be but again, right now we have a coin shortage and it really needs to be washed once a month at least-- so, we're at "needs must" territory when it comes to that blanket to be honest. Still, point *is* that it's right on that edge so if your blanket/comforter is super thick and/or Queen sized or larger, you're still gonna have to use the laundromat for that item. To be fair though, I honestly don't see how *any* portable washing machine could handle that old comforter of mine with aplomb anyway so, I'm seriously not docking them any for that. In short? It's wonderful. It really, really is. We don't have to "scout" whether or not there's a washer that's available anymore, we don't have to try to track down a bank that's still willing to give out quarters every couple of weeks (fewer and fewer branches seem to be doing that these days even before the shortage), and we don't have to avoid using the dish towels and cloth napkins either. Really, I foresee our paper towel usage go down as a result. So, yeah, I love this thing! I really, really do. :D Edit: We are now into the first part of 2023 and it's still going strong. Here's some more long term things that I've noticed during that time. 1) it is still *really* easy to overdo the soap!!! I blame a lifetime of regular sized washing machines but this thing takes practically almost none. 2) it's also still kind of easy to try to overload it. Again. I blame myself and not the machine for that. Obviously, if you overlaod any machine too much or put in too much soap, you run the risk of getting those dreaded white streaks but a good trick for preventing that is to use the small, collapsable drying rack we bought as my guide because the perfect load seems to be just what that rack holds. Which is a really good guide, actually. As I mentioned before though, it really isn't that big of a deal because we can easily do another load the next day. Frankly, given that by my calculations, this thing has fully paid for itself by the end of 2021 and has been actively saving us a small fortune in this last year.... I am more than okay with that. In fact, since the loads *are* so quick and easily taken care of, we have found ourselves not procrastinating on doing the laundry anymore. :D

How I love thee, lemme count the ways... This fully automatic washing machine has a 1.7 cf capacity but only 1.6 cf of it should only be used if you're going to use a full load of laundry. It's a matter of Fluid Dynamics as it is the maximum capacity for a small washing machine to wash clothes for great efficiency. It works well and this view is obvious to me and very convincing. Well, there are others but for a home it works almost perfectly. So, in other words, there's no pressing down on the clothes as the soapy water covers all or nearly equally when the clothes are fully submerged that doesn't take time. Great! I find the panel on the machine, neat and handsome, the LED color blue, unusual but not alien. The nice cutsey tweeks as it sounds when selecting various features say, cold, warm, and hot for the water temperature, I found seamless and highly intuitive. I use warm water and not hot at all as the wash water is a soaking and wash medium but shouldn't take a further part in washing clothes. The use of hot water to me would break the machine and damage clothes. Ideally, the water should be luke warm or barely warm to warm in temperature. I allow the selection of laundry detergent for HE washing machines with no excess sudsy water. If I do, the machine will break. If I use detergent for very sudsy water, I mean, the machine will break! The washing machine is of high quality considering the price paid. The washing machine under normal use for a series of test runs would break after 50 washings in succession for Mechanical Entropy. This is impressive! The little tweeks and sudden switches I heard made me at first have a cheap sense of flimsiness and the feel of the top cover and the run, flimsey in comparison to the last machine I have, a Haier. I first hated this latest version of the washing machine from Panda. I did not know at this point that these initial superficial views and feel only meant the washing machine is absolutely brand new. The drain pump sounds a little distressing and a little loud, but works well and works thoroughly almost like the last machine I have and will always have for personal reasons. The hose attachment for the intake of water from the faucet and the drain tube are a snap and fit well, all instantly and seamlessly without putting weights on the drain hose to prevent it from going all over the place. The faucet adaptor might give a little, minor problem at first. But it's all to specs and it works without a leak. Well, maybe a little dribble, that's all. What was impressive was the drain hose! It was simply made for my sink. I just place the drain hose on the sink, the drain end of it rests on the basin of the sink and that was it! Terrific. It's fully automatic. I can go to bed for a nap or go out for a snack and it works perfectly without any unexpected spill. I'm so impressed with it, all. I also did blankets and a bathroom rug. I thought I might need to go to the laundromat which I hate to do. But I didn't need to. They all come out nice and clean, almost like new! Now, I absolutely LOVE my Panda Washing Machine! I can almost say, I can easily almost gladly pay another $100 for it. But, I'll let you decide for yourself, whether you would or not.

Note that while this 1.60 cubic foot Panda washer has about the same footprint as the 1.34 cubic foot Panda washer, the weight is almost 20lbs heavier. Delivered to Upstate New York from the Amazon warehouse in Washington state within two days... PACKAGING: The 80lb box has two parts, held together by sealed bands. The top part can be lifted off, then the machine is lifted off the separate, flat bottom piece. The outer box and molded styrofoam should be set aside until the machine is tested, it is required if return is necessary. The machine, tilted backward slightly, can be rolled forward, even up a slight incline and over a small doorsill. The styrofoam that stabilizes the inside of the machine leaves bits of styrofoam, and vacuuming seems like a good idea. FOUND INSIDE THE DRUM: an instruction manual, two 4' hoses and a quick release adapter for attachment to the M or F aerator threads on a kitchen or bath sink faucet. This setup assumes that only one washing machine hose for water input is used. SETUP: (an alternate setup) - the SPOUT ON THE BATHTUB can be unscrewed, typically leaving a threaded pipe end, [1/2", (or 3/4"), NPT, M]. Newer bath tub spouts may be somewhat different. Also, before testing the setup - HDPE plastic gallon water jugs have a flat side and can be trimmed easily with scissors, to create open top, light weight drip catchers. This can be attached just under the hose links with waterproof tape. FOR THE FIRST TEST CYCLE: Be sure to lock at least two of the caddy casters first. After carefully attaching the hose to the cold port and selecting cold water choice, the amount of water coming from the tub faucet may need to be increased, so the pressure is recognized by the machine correctly. (Although the hose is attached to the cold port on the machine and "cold" water is selected, warm/hot water can be turned on at the tap for a warm/hot wash). The drain hose can be secured by a cord tie from the shower curtain rod, so it is about 35" from the floor and drains into the bathtub. I have used liquid HE detergent and bleach, adding both directly to the machine tub after a few inches of water have first accumulated in the tub - so the soap/bleach then mixes thoroughly before the clothes are added. Be sure to press "start/pause", before opening the top to add soap, clothes, or check the water temperature, level etc. Also, things to be washed, added only half way up to volume of the tub, plus choosing large wash/heavy, seems to work well. Several washes have completed smoothly, and the clothes finish the spin cycle reasonably dry. The "extra rinse" option has been useful to remove any excess detergent, (check the rinse water being removed by the drain hose for soap bubbles). Together with the above setup and caddy, I have been generally pleased with the clean clothes and ease of use. Seems to be a good purchase and very handy. PHOTOS added above are: - the quick connection to machine - the quick connection to the bathtub spout - the washing machine with the back panel removed - the area with a connection to the drain hose. Additional costs: About $50. for the caddy and washer pan. $10-20. for the stainless steel covered hose with a right angle attachment. About $10. for the 1/2" NPT to 3/4" GH, tub spout pipe adapter, $10. for the 3/4" M/M GH adapter and about $12. for the two quick connect 3/4" GH adapters, (all found on Amazon), Plus Teflon tape and waterproof tape adds up to about $100. spent in addition to the cost of the washing machine. Happy that the setup and the washing machine worked.

Edit: 2 years later, still going strong! No problems at all. The only minor wear and tear with the machine is the little rubber washer inside the inlet hose, the end that attaches to the faucet, it's a little frayed and sometimes lets some drips out into the sink, but it hasn't been bad enough to even look into replacing that washer or the hose. I still love my Panda! Original review below: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was really impressed with how sturdy this little washer is. Easy to get it set up. Very reasonable noise level. Gets clothes and linens very clean and spins them as dry as any standard washer. I love my Panda! I will be honest about a couple things which could be improved: the whole tilting onto the casters thing doesn't really work for me. Only one side has a place to lift near the front, so you end up kinda tilting it on one corner and some dragging is involved. It also leaves some grayish black streaks on my floor after moving, but they literally wipe right off with a paper towel. There is no explanation anywhere about what each wash cycle does. Some are self-explanatory but nowhere is it explained what the difference is between "Normal and "Standard" for example. I believe "Normal" ended up being a 68 minute cycle, while "Standard" was something like 47 minutes, Both gave identical results. Then I tried "Quick Wash" which is 23 minutes (more like a standard washer) and still performs the same actions and with the same results, so I highly recommend using this setting to save time and wear on the machine. I've also tried the "Air Dry" setting which simply spins the laundry for more time, and it still comes out damp. I couldn't really tell a big difference. A quick summary: Does an excellent job, just needs better instructions/explanations of the cycles, and a couple handles to lift the front so you can take advantage of the casters in back.

Love this washer. I was looking for an affordable alternative to using the expensive laundry room in my apartment building that could still handle a decently sized load of laundry and this is perfect for it! Things of note: - Capacity: Big enough to handle a light queen sized throw (picture attached for visualization) or a set of full sized bed sheets (cling, flat, and two pillowcases). That's about the max capacity though. - Noise level: It's about the same volume as a regular washer. The only thing I dislike in terms of volume is how loudly is beeps when it's done or if the load is unbalanced. It's quite shrill and lasts much longer than necessary. - Maneuverability: It could be better. The two wheels are sufficient for short distance from the corner of my kitchen to the sink, but I am afraid that I'll drop it each time I tilt it given its weight. I plan to get a four wheeled roller to put the washer on, but even with that added expense, this washer is still worth it. - Usability: It's great! Hook up is easy and always goes smoothly. Just attach the adapter and hose to your faucet, attach hose to the machine input, turn the cold water on, and select your program. It'll fill and drain based on whichever one you choose. The programs are pretty intuitive and it comes with direction if you do need them. - Size: It's about the size I would expect for the capacity size of the washer and it works well enough in a small apartment. I keep it in the corner of the kitchen and its out of the way until I need it. The dimensions are about 19x19x32 from some quick measurements I took. - Spinning out water: It gets the majority of the water out, to the point things are only marginally damp and will air dry completely within a few hours. Overall this washer is perfect for the small apartment lifestyle. It does what it needs to do and it seems much more durable that many other small washers on the market. It's also well made and seems like it will last for a long time. Can't recommend it enough!

My 5-year-old, huge front-load washer died. It was a money pit, costing me a small fortune to get it repaired. (I hate to throw things out.) When I found out that a part would be $350, not counting installation, I decided to call it quits. I priced washers locally, and on sale they were $600 or more, not to mention the $200-$300 for the warranty. I decided that I didn't want to be spending $800 every 5 years or so. I also wasn't that thrilled with my front-load washer- it was a pain to use, took forever to wash, and smelled no matter what I did. I looked on Amazon, and saw this little washer. I thought and thought about it, and decided that about $250 was a good amount to spend on a washer. If it didn't last but 2 years, I still come out ahead. After much debate, I ordered. Set up was a breeze. (A plastic grill has a chip out of it, but that in no way affected the machine.) The manual is a hoot- the wording is hilarious, the photo of the late 1800's baseball player moving the washer is a thing of beauty, and the instructions are minimal, to say the least. (There is NO explanation for what each wash setting is, and I still don't know what "air dry" is.) There is a part at the top of the washer on the left hand side that is rather tear-drop shaped with a drain hole in it- no idea what it is or what it does. ( Maybe someone that has the machine can share....) Washed 5 loads the first day I had it. (I had lots of laundry to take care of.) Other than having to decrease the amount I put in the tub, the machine is one hundred times better than my previous $900 washer by far. The clothes come out clean, it is super-duper quiet, and when it says that there is one minute left in the spin cycle, the machine means ONE minute! (My old machine's "one minute" could take up to 25 minutes- a real hassle when you had to go down a flight of steps to continually check on it.) I don't know how long this machine will last- I hope at least a couple of years. I do know that it is easy to use, quiet, and does a great job cleaning. I hang my clothes to dry them, and although this doesn't spin them out as dry as my old front-loader, they seem to dry more quickly. My entire family thinks it is cute. My oldest son even took a photo of it to share with his friends. My husband told his sister that his wife, "...bought the cutest little washing machine I've ever seen, and it does a great job!" Cure or not, it does a fantastic job of cleaning clothes with the least amount of water and noise I've ever had in a machine.

It is great for small spaces and the rear wheels help it to be fairly easy to maneuver. It is fairly quiet, a bit louder during the spin cycles. Easy to use with 5 water levels, several programs, & the ability to customize with separate functions, such as soaking or just spinning. When I received it, it had a strong "new" scent, so I opened both ends of the box and left it lying on the floor in my hallway overnight. It was much reduced the next day, and once I used it the first time, the scent was pretty much gone. I contacted the company/seller with a question about assembling it, and they responded promptly. I would recommend buying a rubber or plastic mat or "tray" to put under it when it's in use. The gray hose will release water after your wash has finished and you're putting it away. The mat or tray that you purchase separately will capture the water (see photo). There is a lint compartment (see photo) that needs to be cleaned after every wash. The gray hose should be placed in the sink drain to minimize the water drainage level in your sink. I would not leave it unattended. I have used 4 & 5 water levels and 02 program as well some of the individual functions, spinning. Keep the water to fill it either cold or cool. The white hose attaches to the sink faucet, and it needs to be turned on and off during the wash cycle three times during the standard 02 program. It releases water through the gray hose three times. For those reasons, do not leave it unattended. It shows you on the screen the length of time for each program, such as 47 minutes for 02 standard. I use the start/pause to add liquid laundry detergent after it has filled up with water and before it starts agitating. I make sure not to overfill it. There are guidelines in the instructions on what types of clothes to put in it, and I stick to those. The final spin cycle does a great job of extracting most of the water from the clothes. Unplug first then detach the white hose. Expect water spillage from the white and gray hoses. Clean the lint compartment after you take out the clothes. Allow the gray hose drain and then store the machine. I read so many reviews before I purchased this, and I am so glad that I did. I have used it several times, and it works so well with my smaller loads! I highly recommend it.
