This microwave oven is great. I bought it some time in 2020 and am writing this in Jan of 2025, so close to 5 years now. I haven't had any trouble with it. I love how easy it is to clean since it uses a bottom feed zapper rather than using a mechanical food rotation platter. It's easy to get pre-set times with the push buttons, or hit the double time + pre-set to get up to 7 min without having to think about much. To get odd times that aren't a direct multiple you first wake it up (open the door so the panel is lit, you can close it if you want after, just need to 'wake' it), then hit Power, type in the number of min/sec you need, then hit start. THANK YOU to the other reviewer to posted that. The pre-sets were so easy to use I never actually learned that until my mom wanted to microwave an egg for an un-even multiple of time. The beeps when the timer is done are quite loud, as expected of a commercial unit. However as stated in other reviews you can turn off the sounds entirely if needed, say if you have this in a shared living environment like a dorm or apartment and use it for those 3rd shift meals. ... show more

Although this is labeled for commercial use, I use it in my kitchen. It’s the smallest but most powerful microwave that I could find. I needed it to fit in a small cabinet and it is a perfect fit. It’s so easy to use. No rotating plate which is a plus. The only negative thing I could say is the ending bell is rather loud, but I can get used to it. I use a small reading light clipped to the cabinet to see the control panel at night because it is not illuminated. That solution works great. ... show more

I bought this microwave in December of 2018. It replaced a residential microwave that lasted only 2 years. So far it's been a great little microwave with zero issues, and we use it many times a day. One of my most favorite things about it is that it's so very easy to clean. It's great not having a turntable. Another favorite feature is that it has the absolute best defrost cycle of any microwave I've ever owned, and there were a lot of them. It defrosts slowly and doesn't cook the edges of the food as some microwaves do. I also like to use the defrost cycle to re-heat food gently. The power on this microwave is 200 watts less than my last one, and I was worried that it wouldn't be powerful enough for my liking, but I actually like the lower watts better because it doesn't destroy things on the high setting. It is simple to operate and it's pretty intuitive once you have some experience with it. It's quite a bit different than a residential microwave, but we got the hang of how it operates fairly quickly. There are no pre-set buttons for specific foods. I love that you can program it so the beep goes away. We can hear it go off, so we don't need an annoying beep. I would buy this microwave over again when it finally dies.     • Message To Panasonic: Stop Putting On Tape That Leaves Marks!

I am rating this one star in the hope that someone at Panasonic will read this. It is inexcusable to put tape on Stainless Steel (or anything) that is going to leave a noticeable blemish or mark or discoloration when removed! Why would you do this? So, Panasonic puts two separate long pieces of tape to hold the door closed during shipping. When I carefully and slowly peeled this tape off, it left behind discolorations...and I mean large and noticeable discolorations where the tape was. I tried washing it...and while it faded a bit, the discolorations/blemishes remain. This is infuriating to me. An expensive and very nice looking microwave marred because they choose to put crap tape on the stainless steel to hold the door closed. I hate it! And Amazon "One Star" means "I Hate It." So, that justifies my one-star rating. I am going to keep the microwave because I fear replacing it will end up with the same result. And because there is only one other similar model in size that has the desired situation of no spinning plate necessary because there is rotating bottom energy feed, etc. (And that other model, also listed at Amazon, is a generic name and not a brand name like Panasonic. So, if I want the exact features the Panasonic offers, I have to tolerate the discoloration.) To review the actual microwave itself: This is a very small capacity microwave in both interior height and width. (Perfect for a single person.) I bought the model with the "non-traditionally-formatted" digital keypad. Yes, it requires either some thinking or the reading of the instruction manual to figure it out. But I found it easy to figure out rather quickly. Heating times seems fast enough. (I boiled one cup of water in exactly two minutes...If you want to test your existing 1000-watt microwave to compare the time). I like the no spinning plate. Easier to keep the interior clean. There is an odd cover over the light that could be the cause of concern if there ever is a food explosion in the microwave. It might be hard to clean under that cover. The microwave looks nice. The few things I have heated so far seem to have come out evenly heated. I am of course hoping for longevity. (I saw some reporting theirs did not last a long time. My last microwave, an LG Intellowave, lasted 15 years. I do not expect this will last as long.) Again, to all companies out there: Stop with the labels and the tape over items that when peeled off leave behind gunk or discoloration! Thank you. ... show more

I would give it 5 stars but button #4 stopped working. I really wish that button worked because it would’ve been a perfect microwave! Heats food evenly and easy to use. The beep is a little loud but you know when it’s finished!!! If anyone knows how to make that button work, please let me know.

    • What a microwave should be

After about five years, our old Cuisinart microwave died. That seems to be within the average lifespan for microwaves in our household. Maybe bad luck, maybe it's the norm -- it certainly wasn't overuse or abuse. And as is often the unfortunate case with electronics, the repair cost was a significant fraction of replacement cost. So we bit the bullet, and sought a replacement. This time, I thought we'd look at commercial microwaves since they're built for harder and longer use than home models, though at the expense of features / bells and whistles. After some thought about what we do with a microwave, and what features we really wanted, this Panasonic unit seemed to hit the checkboxes we needed checked. We don't need a special "popcorn" button, or a temperature probe. One thing I noticed when it arrived was the lack of a "merry go round" tray to help even out cooking. Just for the heck of it, I tried an experiment to see how uneven the cooking pattern would be without moving the food. I filled a glass tray with layer of mini marshmallows and microwaved them. As expected, they puffed as they heated. As NOT expected, they all puffed evenly. NO hotspots. None. That's far better performance than expected, and far better performance than I've seen in any of our prior microwaves. As far as expected longevity, it's too soon to tell but I do notice that there's a built-in counter of the number of times it's been used -- useful in a commerial unit where there's a need to analyze traffic flow, etc. This counter goes up to one million. It has sufficient power for its size The controls are easy to use and well thought out. It is programmable for complex uses. It is easy to clean. It has a strong hinge and a real door handle, not a fragile pushbutton/latch combo as on many units. Heating is very even as noted above. All in all, this is what a microwave should be. ... show more

I am replacing my current over the range microwave with a better exhaust fan so I needed a countertop microwave. When I looked at the home microwave ovens at our local big box store, they all seemed pretty low quality. So I did some research and found that the button “features” found on the home models are just marketing gimmicks and not having a turntable is a good thing. Then I found the commercial models on Amazon. This one has some nice features: * It looks good—actually much better than the picture—and is a nice addition to the kitchen. * It’s solid and doesn't slide on the counter at all when opening or closing the door. * It has a door handle that opens the door easily and closes it securely. * It’s a good size. It easily holds our 12+ inch dinner plates for rewarming without taking up too much counter space. * The power seems about right. A cup of coffee warms in 1.5 minutes; a potato cooks in 5 minutes. * There are programmable keys, six different power levels, and a stage cooking option. Although I doubt we’ll ever use those—it is nice to have the options. * The interior is smooth and easy to clean. I won’t miss cleaning under a turntable. * Best of all, you can turn off the end of cook beep. It is pretty loud. Also, overall, the fan isn’t any louder than a home microwave and probably quieter than some I looked at. Overall, the price point is a little higher than a similar home microwave, but I think the features and solid construction are worth it. ... show more
