Description

Size:3 Piece The Green Earth Pan Set by Ozeri includes an 8", 10" and 12" frying pan that each offers a non-stick solution while remaining free of PTFE, perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) such as PFBS, PFAS, PFOS and PFOA, APEO, GenX, and the lesser known chemicals NMP and NEP. Conventional pans sometimes achieve their non-stick performance through a waxy synthetic coating of PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), which under extreme temperatures begins to decompose and release fumes that can be harmful to humans and pets. Additionally, PTFE is often manufactured with the aid of PFOA (PerFluoroOctanoic Acid) and other perfluorinated chemicals, potential carcinogens which the EPA has classified as a 'persistent pollutant of the environment,’ and APEO (Alkylphenol ethoxylates), which are under restricted use in Germany due to concerns about their poor biodegradability and toxicity. Labelled ‘forever chemicals’ due to their poor degradability and tendency to accumulate in people’s bodies, the EPA and FDA have cited consistent studies of people exposed to many of these compounds that suggest associations with several kinds of cancers and health issues. The Green Earth Pan's ceramic coating from Weilburger, Germany never releases harmful toxic into the environment. The Green Earth Pan's coating is applied using a water-based Sol Gel Technique which is free of the lesser known but potentially harmful chemicals NMP (N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone) and NEP (N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone), sometimes found in traditional cookware. More durable than other non-stick surfaces, the Green Earth Pan allows you to sauté, fry, bake, boil and braise with as little as half the oil normally used. The Green Earth Pan is made of die-cast aluminum that allows for even cooking without hot spots. It boasts a magnetized bottom for rapid heat transfer on induction stoves and a honeycomb ceramic cooking surface for optimized heat distribution. Coating made by Weilburger GmbH, Germany. Pan assembled in China. Satisfaction guaranteed.

  • Last 40 days. No longer non-stick. Followed Intructions Exactly
Size: 3 Piece
After 2 months of use. No longer non stick. Followed their instructions exactly. Seasoned it. Never used in high heat. Bought special non chemical dish soap. Only used cloth to hand wash them. The three pans are no longer non stick. A complete waste of money. They have a 30 day garauntee because they they stop working after that and they’d lose money if their garauntee was any longer. Do not but. I’m guessing all the positive reviews are bought and paid for and not real. My result were exactly as all other low ratings experienced. Terrible product. ... show more

  • Much Better Than High End Cast Iron
Size: 3 Piece
Updated May 2012 - I wrote the first review in January. After using these pans daily since we received them, I have to say they're still terrific. I know some of the reviews report that the non-stick coating doesn't last, but we haven't had any issues with them. I don't wash the pans. I do wipe them out with a dish towel as soon as I remove food from them, when they're still warm. I keep them seasoned with a small amount of coconut oil. Occasionally, residue builds up on the side of one of the pans. When that happens, I fill the pan with warm water and add an anti-grease dish soap, such as Dawn or Ful-Sol, and let it soak overnight. Then I just rinse it out and dry it with a towel--no scrubbing and no more residue. I season the pan before using it again. I'm very careful not to use metal utensils for cooking; instead, I use silicon, wood, or utentils made specifically for non-stick pans. -------- January 2012 - We've been concerned for some time about toxins from traditional non-stick pans. So we invested in high end French cast iron several years ago. They're expensive and heavy, and not as non-stick as we'd hoped. After reading the reviews, we decided to try the 3-Pan set of Green Earth Pans and are delighted we did. As avid Atkins dieters, we eat a lot of protein, particularly eggs and fish. Both brown nicely in the Green Earth pans, and can be cooked with little to no oil or butter. Clean up is simple--just a wipe with a soft cloth or sponge, which we prefer over paper towels. We've been looking at ceramic pans for a while and were careful about investing. Most brands seemed expensive and unproven. The price point with Green Earth was what we were looking for and the Amazon reviews helped us make the decision to buy. It was a good decision, and one we'd make again. ... show more

  • Come on folks! I'm not easy to please and have gone through more Teflon skillets than men! These are my favs!
Size: 3 Piece
To be honest I was very shocked to read all the negatives on this set of three skillets. I use mine often and liked them so much purchased a set for my daughter. I think people are expecting far more than a product can deliver with the new standard. The difference I see in this set compared to other older Teflon is that it wears for better. Perhaps due to waffled bottoms? I use only the spatula of the same brand or wooden utensils. Is there some sticking of food to the bottoms? Yes but removes easily with very hot water. Unlike iron skillets that are well seasoned. I prefer a tiny bit more work than the dangers of the Teflon skillets I've had in the past. I still own some but find myself always reaching for the Green Earth ones; The lids add to the attraction. I've made everything from Frittatas to Stir Fry dishes.. fried eggs.. Tonight.. beef and broccol/mushroom/onion/carroti stir fry.. NO problems. In fact am considering buying the set for stepson and his lady. :D ... show more

  • At best "fairly easy to clean" - but certainly not non-stick
Size: 3 Piece
I really tried hard to like these pans but I've had it. I've treated these pans pretty well and followed the instructions precisely (low heat, wipe down with oil, etc.). Never had them in the dishwasher and never used anything other than dish soap and a soft sponge to clean them. But no matter what I use these pans for, stuff immediately sticks to the pan. And I mean stick, to a point where your food just wouldn't come off without tearing into pieces. The problem seems to be worse if the meat is seasoned on the outside. Black pepper, for instance, immediately "glues" the meat to the pan, no matter how little or much heat or oil I use. These pans are NOT non-stick by any stretch of the imagination, they are, at best, easy to clean when compared to a stainless steel pan. If I could, I would give them 0 stars. Do yourself a favor and do not buy these! *UPDATE* I received a replacement set from Ozeri. Great customer support. The replacement pans are noticeably better than the set I got in the first place but they're still not perfect. Big stuff does not stick anymore, but spices like black pepper, etc., still stick to the pan and work as a glue, making meat stick again to some extend. So be careful when using seasoning in the pan. Changing from 1-star to 4-stars. Three for the pans and one extra star for their customer support. ... show more

  • No such thing as non stick?
Size: 3 Piece
I have come to realize that there is no such thing as non stick. This was only non stick the first time I used it and since then the food gets hardened into the little pockets, and just wont come out. Extremely hard to clean the hardened food. They do cook very nice though, heats up fast, and cooks evenly. They contacted me after this review, and said that they would replace the pans, but so far I have not heard back from them. ... show more

  • Pans lose non-stick and they chip
Size: 3 Piece
Was hoping for a long-term solution that is non-Teflon. The problem with these are a) the non-stick stopped working after about a month and b) the ceramic surface has chipped in multiple locations. I even bought the Wok these guys sell and it arrived with chips in the surface. I returned that item and kept the pans, but now I wish I returned everything. Btw - I followed the care instructions exactly: always hand washed and dried, always stored using the pads they provided. It didn’t matter in performance. Perhaps it’s simply a fragile product that doesn’t last. (The photo is what every batch of scrambled eggs looks like afterward... I literally need to soak the pan to get the egg off. I really want my money back.) ... show more
