I bought this set for my mom, who is in her mid-80s and suffering with Parkinson's Disease in a nursing home. She found the silverware the nursing home uses was too long for her mouth and throat and asked me to look into purchasing smaller-sized silverware. I'd originally purchased for her a child-sized Oneida silverware set and she loved it. However, the nursing home lost it for her. She wanted me to get another set for her, but this time get it engraved with her initials. I didn't want to spend the money to buy the set again, plus the cost of engraving, only to have it lost again, which I knew would happen. As I was looking for another set of silverware for her, I happened upon this set by Oxo. Knowing the quality of Oxo's kitchen products, I decided to purchase this set trusting it was manufactured with the same level of quality. My mom loves these! They're the perfect size for her, and being a former fashion designer and artist, she is sensitive to color, texture and form. She loves the deep pink color of these utensils and the shape of the knife blade. Plus, when these utensils mistakenly find their way to the facility's kitchen, they stand out of the rest of the silverware and the staff can retrieve them for her without too much difficulty. We are teaching our first child to use forks, spoons and a knife and this is a great training set. The handles on the utensils are thin enough that he can easily hold.
