  • Easy and good Tea

  • Good quality product
Size: 6 oz.
I really like this tea infuser basket, which I use daily. I wanted to get away from tea bags. Very well made and should last a long time. It fits perfect in one of my mugs. I buy loose tea leaves and it works well, occasionally I will have a few traces of tea powder around the cup. Not bad to clean if you do it fairly soon after making tea. Just clean out leaves, rinse well and let dry in dish rack. ... show more

  • Stop drinking cardboard water. This is THE BEST INFUSER! Stop drinking cardboard water. This is THE BEST INFUSER!
Size: 6 oz.
I'm going to tell you why your tea tastes like cardboard, but no longer will after using this infuser. To start, I became an avid fine tea and herbal infusion drinker 9 years ago in 2011. I am an herbalist, and the tools we use actually matter when it comes to brewing herbal blends that aren't bitter and tasteless yet retain their medicinal qualities.. The vessel in which you brew is VERY important as well, and seeing as 95% of herbs come loose leaf and bulk, not individually bagged, its important to have great tools such as this stainless steel brew basket. Metal brewers leach iron and shavings into your tea reacting with the natural minerals present in the tea! This is NO bueno! Anywho, I often need to brew a lot of medicinal tea for myself or my clients. I've used mesh strainers, reusable cotton tea bags, silicone tea infusers, the stainless steel ball single cup tea infuser, kettles with the infusion basket inside, etc. You name it, I've tried it. Nothing comes close to how much I absolutely love THIS tea infuser. It fits perfect on my tea cup, which is 3.25" in diameter. PERFECT for a single cup of tea. Not only that, It fits darn near perfect on small mouthed 1 quart mason jars with the lid on!!! That means on the days I want 2.5 cups of tea, I just add 3 more tsp of looseleaf tea into my OXO Tea Infuser Basket, put it in my mason jar, pour the water over the herbs, and BOOM. 3 large servings of tea for me, or 2 generous servings of tea for a couple. The silicon finish on the underside of the handles and the rim of the lid are genius. It keeps all the aromatic, flavor bursting, healthful oils in your tea, so you're not drinking flavorless cardboard water. This is very apparent in blends with natural limonene, menthol, and eucalyptol oils found in teas such as peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon ginger, chai, and earl grey. Now you know why your tea was horrid. You let all the flavorful oils out when you brewed without the LID on!!!! The silicon finish on the handles and lid also creates a seal with cup, keeping your tea hot and those precious oils in. Stop drinking cardboard water and brew your tea with lids on people!!! I'm so grateful this brew basket has this fabulous lid. Use it. On the days I'm crampy because of menstruation, and I need a bunch of red raspberry leaf, I chuck a small handful of the herbs in brew basket, put it in my quart jar, and brew. I have enough tea for the next 3 hours and by then most of my cramps are gone. (Not to mention it tastes like a white tea!) See photos! I use this EVERY. DAY. and I don't foresee myself stopping in the summer. I'll just brew extra strong green iced tea and dilute it using this basket. Tea all year made easy! ... show more

  • Very nice, but room for improvement
Size: 6 oz.
Of all the many strainers out there, I selected this one due to the brand recognition - I find Oxo quality ranges from acceptable to good - and for a number of design features I was looking for. It does not disappoint, but the design could be improved slightly. Construction: The strainer comprises 4 parts: the mesh can is 2 steel pieces, the steel winged top and the silicone rubber pad. The wall of the can is a sleeve of flat steel wrapped into a cylinder with 8 spot welds spaced vertically along the seam at about .38” (inches) apart. The bottom of the can is a shallow formed dish fitted inside the sleeve and secured with 8 spot welds equally spaced around it’s perimeter. The third piece is a steel top with dual wings for support and stability, a raised bead to nest the lid, and a short vertical cylinder, around which the mesh sleeve fits on the outside. The sleeve is welded to the top with 6 seam spot welds about .16” long equally spaced around the top edge. All the edges are straight, flat and deburred (detectable by feel but not too sharp) and the welds secure the seams with no gaps or puckering. The silicone pad is a single piece attached to the bottom of the winged top. There is no edge mismatch or misregistration, peeling or delamination, so I think the pad is vulcanized to the steel before it’s stamped and formed (much better than being glued on after). The pad cushions the strainer when placed on the cup which makes for a nice feel (no clinky-clank here). The included lid which doubles as a coaster is a single formed steel piece with vulcanized rubber sheet. The rubber cushions the lid when it’s placed on the strainer (no clinky-clank here either) and provides some friction to keep it from slipping around. The inside is plenty deep enough to hold any drips, and the rubber on top protects your surface from scratches or heat damage when it’s turned over to use as a coaster. Overall a very nice design and assembly. Dimensions: The can is 2.40” diameter at the top, tapering to 2.18” at the bottom, and is 2.75” deep - this is the part that fits inside the cup. The sleeve and bottom appear to be about .02” thick sheet as near as I can measure, and seem stiff enough. The wings are 5.40”wide overall and each wing extends 1.50” beyond the sleeve. The metal and rubber pad together are .08” thick, and seem plenty stiff. The outside of the lid is 2.86” diameter x .49” thick, the inside is 2.44” diameter by .28” deep. The mesh holes appear to measure about .012” diameter - a 0.3mm (.012”) pencil lead fits thru the holes, a 0.5mm (.020” lead will not - way too big. I haven’t tried Rooibos tea yet, but it screens out the fannings (powdery bits) of chamomile fine. Nitpicks: I can think of 3 improvements that could be incorporated: 1. The top of the wings get hot and become a little uncomfortable to remove the strainer after soaking in hot tea. Adding rubber to the top of the wings to insulate fingers would be a nice touch. 2. The recess for the lid and the lip on the lid could both be deeper to provide more positive engagement. It feels a little sloppy. 3. A formed bead or omitting some of the perforations near the top of the strainer to indicate a fill line would be a nice touch. None of these are deal breakers by any stretch, but the design is not perfect, so I’ll take a star off (because I’m anal that way). I’m very satisfied overall and recommend this item. ... show more

  • Best tea infuser I've ever used!!!
Size: 6 oz.
I love this infuser so much I purchased one for my wife and one for my brother. I purchased this initially because I found out that tea bags have microplastic! I looked at the reviews before purchasing and I disagree with any negative critiques. I love that the lid has silicone so that I don't burn my fingers (rather than an all metal lid that sits inside the infuser as one video review talks about). I also found that the infuser covers all my mugs and the tea is very hot after brewing. This infuser is very easy to clean and use. The loose tea tastes so much better than the tea bags I was using. This infuser is definitely worth the extra money. I highly recommend it!!! ... show more

  • Perfect!
Size: 6 oz.
I just bought my first bag of loose leaf tea and this infuser is perfect! Nice large size so that tea isn't packed too tightly but still fits easily into my favorite mug. Love the cover too which keeps the tea hot while steeping and also acts as sort of coaster to put the infuser on once removed from cup/mug. ... show more

  • Durable build, no tea residue, fits most cups/mugs
Size: 6 oz.
Much better than a tea ball; and high quality. I have been very unhappy with the tea balls that I have used in the past; they don't seal very well where the two halves join and the mesh isn't that fine, so when I saw this type of tea infuser, I wanted to give it a try. I read numerous reviews of competing products, many of which cost significantly less. But customers all complained about the same thing; that the bottom was only crimped on in three or four places, and came apart after use. I decided to trust OXO because I've had good luck with their products in the past. I was not disappointed. Eight solid looking crimps(I'm a machinist, and I recognize fine craftsmanship) holding the bottom in place, a super fine mesh that allows almost no Tea residue in my cup, and a size that holds a full heaping teasooon of tea, yet fits both my oversized mugs and my girlfriends more sensibly sized teacups. I would strongly recommend this. ... show more
