I discovered these notebooks by chance several years ago. I was out of town attending a professional conference and needed something to take notes on - so I popped into a convenience store to buy something. I chose this one and spent the rest of the conference relishing how smooth and wonderful the paper feels and how my pen ran over it. It turned a mundane task into something special. And the paper is water resistant (and coffee resistant). I've been using them exclusively ever since. I like taking notes on paper (rather than typing), I feel it keeps me engaged with both the meeting and with ideas that arise. This exact brand and size of notebook has moved from chain to chain apparently in an exclusive deal. The original convenience store chain doesn't offer them anymore; several years ago they shifted to a big box store and then in the early 2020s to another big box chain. Now Amazon may be the only place I can get them? Highly recommend. They come in a larger size but I like this size - it crams into backpacks and purses and coat pockets.

I have a mild obsession with office/school supplies. Needless to say, 7 years of college, and 29384732 notebooks... This one by far is my favorite. The paper is very smooth, thick, and durable. I've been using these past two weeks for my biochemistry notes and to turn in homework pages. The perforations tear nicely. I also tore the edge extra bits leftover from the perforations and started playing with it and tearing it. The paper is very much elastic as it kind of stretches when I tear it. For the most part it is water resistant. I accidentally set down a torn out page on the table where condensation from my iced coffee left it wet, and it didn't really seem to affect it, my ink wasn't smudged or anything and the paper was fine. Probably my only minor complaint is that if you write hard, this may not be the notebook for you. As I mentioned previously, the paper is a bit elastic, so if you leave the pages together and press down hard, you'll get little indents in the paper and it's not as smooth to write on the back of the page.

I actually love these little notebooks. I love the feel of writing on the smooth paper. It does take a bit to dry if using gel pens and will smear if it isn’t dry, but I still love them. I just allow drying time. (A few seconds). I’ve had a couple of the notebooks come loose from the outer cover but the paper stayed in the spiral. But only a couple have done that and I’ve bought a lot of these notebooks. But I love the paper. I love the notebooks and will continue to buy them unless I find an even better, smoother tablet. And I’ve had several people say “what kind of paper is this??” When they’ve used the stone paper. They’ve also liked the feel. I definitely recommend.

Its neat and priced well. I like the color of the cover which is plastic and strong. It has a good amount of pages and they are strong stone paper sheets. It doesn’t work well for fountain pens because it isnt super absorbent but i tried it with eberything from them to markers to typewriter. The typewriter actually worked ok funny enough.

I bought a two pack of these for $16! You CAN'T beat that anywhere! I have only ever been able to find this brand stone paper notebook in the 6" x 9" at Walgreens for $5 each. To find this FULL SIZE, COLLEGE RULED notebook for $8 each? YES PLEASE. Here's the deal. If you haven't ever written in a stone paper notebook, do yourself and me a favor. Do it just once! You may never go back to regular paper again. The pen FLOATS across the page in a way you've never known. It makes writing a pleasure in the deepest, most satisfying way. It's also somewhat tear proof and mostly waterproof/liquid proof. What?? Yeah, that's true. I mean, you can't throw on your scuba gear and spend 45 minutes journaling UNDERWATER, but water or most innocuous liquid will roll right off of it. Try it. You'll LOVE it, too. I hope this was helpful! UPDATE 4/23/23 5 years later I still love these. Agreed with some other reviews, not all pens/ink feel as nice as others to write with. For me a nice ballpoint is great. Anything with a very sharp tip wouldn’t feel as nice to write with, I’d imagine. Still 100% recommended!

This "paper" absorbs moisture always feels like it is slightly damp. I don't know if it is because it is hygroscopic, but it doesn't feel like crisp paper. I write hard, but with the softness of the paper, you really create imprints in it, as if you are scoring metal plates. I wrote in a gel pen and it absorbed so much moisture sitting in my sunroom that the ink spread and some of it is illegible. I would say it is best for a traditional ball point pen and not gel pens. Gel pens take a while to try, which means you'll get ink on your hands, fingers, and other pages. My neighbors kids and I made boats out fo the paper and floated them, which was cool. It does have a nice glide with a pen if you are looking for that feel. I really wanted a glossy paper feel, and this wasn't it.

The covers and binding spirals are extremely sturdy but the spiral is so tight that the paper cannot fully rotate around it. The paper is fantastic and feels like nothing else. It is perfectly heavy and durable and yet incredibly smooth. The sheets are slightly larger than a standard notebook, the lines are college ruled, and there are very convenient blank slants to record the date on the top right corner. Every writing utensil looks better on the stone paper and there is almost no bleed through (even with Sharpies). Gel ink looks especially vivid on them. I personally love Pilot G-2 10 Bold. My only complaint is that the stone paper is not as absorbent so ink takes a longer time to dry so without patience or care one will be left with an illegible ugly smeared mess. You can always use a battery-powered fan or even a small hair dryer if you are especially impatient,lol. If you take care though, nothing creates better looking notebook writing or art. Last but not least, the paper is perforated very finely so it is removed easily and without any tearing. I absolutely love stone notebooks but these are my favorite so far for the date and the perfect perforation. Once you master not smearing your ink, this will become your favorite specialty paper. I think it's worth the price but I'm a paper, marker, and pen snob, lol, so...
