To be brutally honest, I was a little skeptical on buying a brand name that I wasn't fully familiar with, but this turned out to be a good choice for me. I shoot on an A7R5 and usually do portraits/weddings, but occasionally I like to shoot sports and needed a faster card because my buffer was filling up fast. This card sped up my write time and helped keep my buffer clear when I'm shooting baseball in burst mode. I can run off 15 shots on a 61 MP camera in RAW and it clears my buffer quickly. I did not do time trials or measure speeds, but after using SD cards forever, I can say that this was a definite improvement. I only have the one at this point, but I can see myself getting more of these in the future to use for everything. The storage capacity of the card is great at 480 GB, it gives me plenty of space when I'm shooting RAW+JPEG (small) to take hundreds of images without worrying about filling up the card. Quality is great, card feels solid and has produced excellent results for all of my uses. For video, which I do occasionally, it allowed me to use the S&Q settings on the A7R5 which weren't available with SD cards for shooting in slow motion. The media could not be loaded. I’ve used plenty of SD cards over the years, and after switching to OWC Type A cards, I’m not going back. Type A wins every time. These cards are noticeably faster, rock-solid reliable, and priced way more reasonably than I expected for the performance you get. I use them for professional video work, and they handle high-bitrate recording without a hiccup. No dropped frames, no overheating issues, and transfer speeds are excellent. Compared to SD cards, Type A just feels like the more modern, dependable option. If you’re on the fence between SD and Type A, do yourself a favor and go Type A—specifically these OWC cards.     • A workhorse of a card!

Works very well and I am shooting this product on 2 top of the line Sony cameras. Sony a1mkII and the Sony A7 RV This is an excellent choice for a high speed camera at it is reliable. This is my second card that I bought for the a1 mkII after having the first one on the The a7r5 and never a problem.

Please read if you experience freezing with this card. I purchased this card, took photos, and couldn't retrieve them using my card reader. Lightroom and Windows froze, forcing a reboot. I returned the card, but the fault was entirely mine. I tried a different brand's older CFExpress card with the same result. Suspecting the cards weren't the issue, I experimented and discovered the culprit—the USB-C cable! I wasn't using the cable included with the card reader, and it likely couldn't deliver enough power for CFA cards, causing the freezes. Bottom line: Not all USB-C cables are equal! (Check your cable before blaming the card manufacturer.) ... show more

After months of use I feel I have a good feel of this card’s performance. I have several of these cards. I had been using the V90 SD cards, but wanted to see if the CF card would work well with my Sony a1 and a1ii. After extensive testing photographing fast action wildlife at 30 fps, I can attest to the impressive performance of this CF card. The buffer clears in a flash and so far very pleased with my purchases. update: just returned from a winter in Alaska with sub zero temps.     • Issues with card skipping frames on fx3

Frustrated with owc cards and readers. My atlas card has been skipping frames on my FX3 left and right. Owc website said innergize software is needed to optimize cards maintenance and update firmware but needed its readers to use. After purchasing this I found out that Owc is no longer updating the software the old software is not compatible with the newer Mac’s. It can be accessed via third party software for an additional $149, but that is a ridiculous solution. I no longer trust the OWC cards an am in the process of switching to Lexar Gold. They are more expensive initially but at least they work without any issues and are more transparently supported by their manufacturer. ... show more
