  • Loved the idea of Rethinking rather than Overthinking
I was worried that every page would be a lot of "Relax. Don't worry about it" advice. But Norton put so much good advice into this common sense book. The idea that "overthinking can never become a problem if the thinker decides to put a stop to it" is absolutely correct. We have the power to change through thousands of tiny decisions every day. I loved the chapter that talks about "rethinking" rather than "overthinking." It's all about tackling one challenge and using that as a springboard to tackle the next one, giving us the ability to move forward. If I want to lose weight, it's easy to dwell on the "I'm choosing to eat unhealthy foods and I can't stop." But through rethinking, my internal dialogue could be "today, I'm going to eat a lunch that isn't white, brown, or beige." And let that small success push me toward the next good decision. This book is a wonderful guide if you have an obstacle in your life that feels large and leaves you frozen in indecision. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Good Book
I liked this book, even if I didn't love it. There wasn't anything terribly original in it, but it provides a systematic way of approaching a problem that afflicts a great many people. Sometimes it is good to have an outside perspective, and this book was written in a plain-language way that makes it accessible to the average person. I was especially keen on Chapter 6, where the author discusses journaling as a self-help tool. I cannot recommend that habit enough. Journaling is a first-rate way of keeping in touch with yourself. Bottom line, this is a pretty good book. I recommend it. ... show more

  • A great reminder
Overcome overthinking is a very well put together summary of some common practices that you can use to improve mental health. I particularly liked the structure and concisely summarised nature of the book. Norton has done a good job, making the material accessible, even if there is not a huge amount of new material here. But I think that’s okay because these are things that it pays to hear again and again, and sometimes this is what we need before we are ready to make a change. ... show more

  • Who Doesn’t Overthink?
This book is a helpful reminder and guide to calm the voice of criticism within – that monkey mind meditators often talk about. This book helps you learn to not give credence to every negative thought that crosses your mind. It's a chance to start over with thoughts that don't seem to be working and gently nudge yourself in a better direction. ... show more

  • You Are the Master of Your Overthinking!
I admit it, I am a classic ruminator. I dove into this book looking for the Magic Formula and was not disappointed, though the truth is there is no magic formula. Like Dorothy's ruby slippers, I have the key to figuring out how to normalize my overthinking. And only I can control it. The book includes lots of great tips and tactics, and I plan to buy the Audible version to listen to at night. It's well organized, logical and useful. ... show more

  • Clear and to the point!
This book doesn't waste any time discussing Overthinking, what it is and what you can do to stop it! I really liked the suggestions at the end that talk about what you can do to "remedy" if you are an overthinker.

  • A step by step guide for Overthinkers
This book clearly explains overthinking and its symptoms. It also covers many sorts of overthinkers and their solutions. And it leads you to answer questions to construct an action plan and set goals to take action in your life! Enjoyed it!
