Merino wool is the main material in these socks, so they're comfortable, long lasting, and durably constructed. My experience with Merino wool is that it is a naturally fine texture and a soft wool. It has always been my first choice for Winter socks. These socks will fit well above your calf area, exactly as this product is pictured, which helps a lot in keeping you warm. I found the size chart for these socks to be correct for me. These socks measure 11 inches from the ankle to the top of the sock. These socks come in an array of colors, but I liked the vibrancy and color and design of the purple socks. And ... well ... these socks ARE made from wool ... so, don't do what I've been doing ... rather, be sure and READ the laundry instructions located on the back side of the packaging. These socks should be machine washed ... and dried in LOW heat. (no wonder my other merino wool socks are now all so TIGHT!) And ... turn them inside out, first. (Ha! Who knew THAT?) Well ... now that I know ... I'll just air dry all of my merino wool socks ... so they don't get any smaller. I did see an "air dry" setting on my dryer ... I'll bet that would work OK, as well. This seller provides a 6 month warranty ... and even provides their contact email address, which is printed on the back side of the zip locked packaging. I always appreciate when Sellers just give me their contact info straight up ... rather than making me jump through the hoops to contact them through Amazon. I also like that the packaging that this Seller uses is reusable/recyclable and presents well for gift giving.

When the weather turns cold my feet waste no time starting to complain. Loudly. So thick socks or doubled pairs (sometimes both) become the fashion around my house. These socks fit in to that scheme nicely. Soft and thick, good rise on the calf. Very satisfactory.

Nice tight long socks. Warm and idea for wearing with boots. Despite being warm, they are quite thin, I can wear them with a second pair of socks and still fit into my boots.

These are great knee high socks that will be good for hiking. One of my biggest issues with socks is they slide down. So far the times I have worn them I haven’t had any issues. They are not too thick but have good cushion. I we hold recommend.

This is an initial review, and will be updated after a ski day. First impression was that the socks fit very snuggly, perhaps too snuggly. There is quite a bit of elasticity to the fabric, and I hope it lasts a long time. The true test, though, is how well it keeps my feet warm on a coldish ski day. RECOMMENDATION: I rate these a ‘BUY’, but only for the correct situations. The socks are very comfortable and breath very well, they have extra padding in the feet and look good, but are just not that warm. They are advertised as being Merino wool but are not quite 1/3rd wool. These would be good socks for early or late season skiing or hiking in moderate temperatures, but not when you need real warmth. THE GOOD: 1. Very, very comfortable. 2. Breath really well, so great for when the outside temp is more moderate and you don’t want your feet to sweat excessively. 3. Extra padding on the sole of the feet, so good for skiing or hiking. 4. Look good. THE BAD: 1. Not for really cold days. Just use them in the right situations and they will work well. 2. The tops of the socks are fairly tight so they won’t fall down easily, but the compression can bother some people.
