It's waterproof, that's for sure. However, it's not breathable. This is 100% nylon, and there is no way air passes through it. I guess that's why it fits pretty loosely in the sleeves and along the bottom, so air can get in and out. Otherwise, it is airtight, and you will be plenty warm. I wanted something that was more porous, so at least air could get in and out of the fabric, and I wouldn't sweat so much. This is built to ward off a monsoon! Oh yes, the XL size was plenty large for someone that's 6' 1" tall, 200 lbs, with 44 in chest. Very loose fit. ... show more

Love this jacket. I traveled to Alaska and used it as the outer layer as well as by itself. The stuff sack made it easy to carry the jacket in my backpack. It fits so that's nice. The material is really gross when your skin sticks to it and it does not function as a windbreaker. It's incredibly warm and the hoodie constantly either blows off or falls down where you can't see. I have to wear a ball cap to keep the water out of my face.
