Crafted of our waterproof 100% Hyrdroplus nylon, this rain jacket keeps its promise of protection. It includes a handy stow-away hood that stays out of the way when you don't need it, while two zippered side pockets give a sense of protection, and the adjustable cuffs and drawcord adjustable hem work to lock the rain out. I ordered one of the cheaper jackets on Amazon, and that didn’t turn out well, and returned, then found this and though I’m not a fan of Columbia(don’t get me started), at least I know the brand well, and found the orange-red chili color for twenty five but Amazon showed it would take a month to deliver(watch out when ordering), so I looked again and then saw the blue one for twenty nine and ordered. Came with a retail price tag of seventy five. Whatever all that means. Was looking for a cheap rain jacket that works, that was all. I’m a short guy at 5’4” and 165lbs, 41-42” chest, and usually wear a 31-32 waist. I ordered a medium and it feels exactly half a size larger, likely tailored just a tad larger to give room for layers underneath. Being short, I expected the sleeves to be long on me, but they weren’t egregiously so, and the Velcro holds at wrists so sleeve length doesn’t seem like a big problem. This isn’t exactly like a fitted jacket but half and half between a windbreaker style and old fashioned raincoat. It’s a bit baggy and roomy. The cut is rather “universal” and I wish was a bit more slim and flattering but this way will fit most body types. Not a big deal tho. It does have a packable pocket inside for packing the jacket into but I haven’t tried it since I want to keep the DWR intact as long as possible before my hiking trip and don’t want to wrinkle up severely beforehand. The packable pocket is vented netting which I imagine would be friendly for wet jackets though I still wouldn’t pack a wet jacket for more than a day cause mold. I haven’t tried the waterproofing either but I bought this for hiking and later monsoon seasons in Southeast Asia, and so I got a backup poncho anyways, and the jacket label says waterproof(look picture), so yeah, it ain’t one of those windbreakers that some salesman is trying to sell as a rain jacket. I’m sure it will be fine for my use. The craftsmanship and manufacturing seems very well done, and all in all, can say for sure for thirty bucks was a bargain. Happy with it, though I kinda did like that red chili color better. This is one of those rain jackets that scream, “hey don’t judge my baggy fit cause I’m a raincoat,” and the orange color fits that a bit better imo. Too bad orange wasn’t in stock when I ordered, but the blue looks good too. The jacket does look and feel quality for a lowly rain jacket. Thumbs up. ... show more

This jacket is actually perfectly sized for a "medium" guy like me (5'10", 170#, 42" chest)--but WITH a couple of layers beneath it. Evidently they sized it to be worn as a lightweight windproof and waterproof outer layer with maybe a shirt and sweater. It looks great on; but if you're buying it for, say, cool-temperature cycling or hiking, be aware your perspiration is going to stay right with you inside the jacket--it's waterproof and it's not Gore-tex. If, however, you're birdwatching or strolling with your honey on a brisk breezy day, you're going to be quite comfortable, plus you'll look sharp. Some reviewers have commented on the mesh pockets, several calling them "useless". I think they're fine, however, unless you're habitually carrying heavy sharp stuff (e.g., big bunches of keys, open knives, rocks with sharp corners). ... show more

Okay, so here's the real truth on the sizing. This is WAY oversized. Like at least a size, maybe two. I have an athletic build; medium t-shirts are pretty fitted on me usually, especially in the chest. I bought a medium sized jacket to be able to layer under. It was so much bigger that it actually fits great over my perforated armored leather motorcycle jacket (still with room to spare), so I'm keeping a medium for that reason and I'll try out a small. On the waterproofing: I wore this with a dry t-shirt into the shower for ten minutes, and I have pretty good water pressure. Nothing got wet, and even my sweat (it was hot and I was in steam) seemed to get out ok. My assumption is that the sweat is the moisture most people are getting and that the water-repellant coating is wearing off for them. But based on that ten minutes, even directly under the zipper stayed fully dry, though it looked wet and saturated on the outside. So I can conclusively say that at least the one I got is fully waterproof. The color / style isn't great either, but it's fine. ... show more

I bought this rain jacket in hopes of finding some proper coverage when it rains. This jacket is the best!!! I traditionally wear a Large, and this jacket fit pretty standard on me. It has a lot of little pockets that can be sealed so that your items do not get wet. I do wish the pockets were a little larger, but the still get the job done. Bought this rain jacket for my teenage son. Part of me wanted the rain jacket I bought for him to have more substance to it, but that's not the point of a spring rain jacket. This has no soft lining because it's not supposed to. We live in Virginia where you typically (not this year!) have only a handful of days that are spring warm/hot but significantly raining. So even your lightweight winter hooded jacket is too warm for the weather but a non-rain resistant spring jacket won't do either. We hate having to carry umbrellas, so this lightweight, hooded rain jacket does the trick. I bought Columbia thinking that he can own it for years to come since he's done with all of his major growth spurts & our area typically doesn't have enough of these days to justify buying a new one every year for a growing kid. It's also very squishable/packable, so it's the kind of thing that I would recommend he throw into every duffle/suitcase he packs for trips as a "just in case" kind of thing that takes up so little room & adds so little weight to your luggage that you're grateful if you need it & you don't really mind that you brought it even if you didn't end up needing it. ... show more

Wore this while white water rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It was a lifesaver for keeping me dry enough to stay warm despite the frigid water. It outperformed many other people's jackets on the trip that let water in through the hood. This one sinched well, and fit comfortably. Very lightweight rain shell. I want it primarily as a windbreaker for biking in cold weather and to handle occasional showers if I get caught by surprise. Nice to ride in, nice windbreaker, haven't tried it in the rain yet. I'm 5' 10", 170 pounds, the fit is loose enough to get a thermal layer underneath if needed. Might actually be too flappy for people who like the tight jersey fit. Zipper works well and is reliable. I would have liked a super bright orange for visibility. I just can't find a good one in that color. For now this is my riding shell, I'll have to keep looking. ... show more
