After owning these pants and wearing them in a wide range of conditions I can say with confidence that they are great for the purpose I needed them for. My dog LOVES walks. Absolutely LOVES walks. Wisconsin winters can bring just about every type of Winter weather scenario one could imagine. Snow, rain, I've, freezing rain, thundersnow, subzero temperatures, etc. So I have been dialing in my winter dog walking gear and needed to upgrade my pants. Depsite superb fit and water repellency of my Columbia fleece lined hiking pants, they're subpar when it comes to wind blockage. That's where these pants from Outdoor Ventures come in. I was definitely skeptical based on the price, but I couldn't justify spending $200+ for goretex pants just for walking my dog. I am very happy with the wind blocking I get from this material. I can definitely tell where the seams are in the crotch area when it's really windy outside because the seams are not taped and will not fully block wind. I haven't really noticed it much in other areas beside the crotch, though. But for what I paid, I can overlook the seams not being taped. They also do very well with water resistance. I've been through plenty of snow and rain wearing these now and I have yet to feel any moisture soak through the material. It just beads off like it should. I wear them over thermal leggings or long underwear and my usual setup is good to about 5°F before I need to add another layer. If I could change anything, I'd add drawcord cinches for the cuffs to get that really locked down seal against the tops of my boots. I would also really like to have a zipper vent in one or both legs to allow for better moisture control when going in and out of buildings/different temperatures, when it gets above 32° these things can get you pretty toasty(sweating).

Outdoor Ventures Ski/Snow Pants Note: Some of the photos make the pants appear grey, it is a deep black. Initial Impression • Pants fit good
• A disposable tag on the pants say they are Windproof, Elastic and Waterproof, no permanent tag that says this
• Advertised as high-waisted, seems like one inch higher, not uncomfortably high unless you normally wear your pants really low, not an issue for me • Adjustable velcro waist straps • Belt Loops • To be worn with long johns or underwear, would be snug if you want to wear pants underneath • The shell of the fabric is soft, not stiff which usually makes jackets or pants noisy
• I find these pants fitted in the seat, hips and thighs, and the fabric does not rub, there is no swishing sound from the thighs • I get a swishy sound as the pant cuffs rub once in a while because they are wider for going over ski boots, not a deal breaker (not George Constanza suit swishy) • 4 Pockets, 2 Front, 2 Back and all four zipper close • If you want cargo pockets, look elsewhere • Zipper pulls are reflective • Articulated knees • Fabric does flex for freedom of movement • Pant Cuffs are 23 cm (9 in) wide • Do they fit over ski boots... yes they do • Do not know about snowboard boots • Pants do not have leg vents • Pants do not have gaiters, snaps or zippers on the leg cuffs • There is a hard plastic loop in the front near the left pocket, probably can be used to hook a carabiner on • All pockets and inside pants are fleeced lined Cons • Would have been better if pockets were smooth nylon instead of fleece, easier to put things in and take out • You choose by waist size and inseam length based on their chart, pants delivered will come with a tag that says S, M, L, etc • This means their selection of pants is not as granular as you think, a conversion is being done from the numbers you provide and it is a hit or miss if they fit like they were tailored, OK or they drag on the ground • This is why reviews and answers about fit is all over the map • You want a tailored experience, take them to a tailor or put a crowbar in your wallet for out of the box fits like a glove pants • It is the seller and/or website owner who are getting a tailored experience because you are providing measurements that are closest to what you normally wear and you get a generic S, M, L, etc in return Final Thoughts • Disappointed pants are not as tailored as advertised, inseam wise • They fit good in the waist, seat, hips and thighs, not baggy so no swishy sound when walking, cuffs brush occasionally which is to be expected since they need to be large enough to fit over ski boots, not constantly brushing and is a non-issue • Pants were warm and dry while skiing for 4 days • Length of pants can be tailored, no elastic gaiters, zippers or button clasps on the cuffs, this would prevent tailoring • Like that there are 4 pockets, all zipper close • Would prefer the pockets to be nylon instead of fleece to put things in easier and take out • These are inexpensive, warm and fit well, a recommended buy • If these pants were as granular as advertised I would give it 5 stars, truth in advertising ––––––

Bought these for my hubby for Christmas so he would keep warm and dry on his tractor in the winter, and these do the trick! Even when the temps were in the 30’s and it was snowing and a bit of freezing drizzle he didn’t get cold or wet. He loves them. I would recommend!

I am 6" 220 and order the 36 x 32 (I typically wear a 35x34 in Wrangler George Straits, 34 x 34 in Levi's) and they initially fit tight around the front pocket area but after wearing them they did loosen up. I used these pants on a North Dakota Mule Deer hunt in the Badlands. I wanted to buy a [air of Kuiu guide pants but thought I would give these a try. First day was wet as it had rained and the pants are rain resistant. The next day the wind blew 30-40mph with temps in the high twenties and my legs never got cold and I never felt the wind. Day three was miserable. 25 mph winds, blowing snow and only in the teens. Never wore a base layer and my legs were never cold. Final day started in the teens no wind and in the morning we sat on some does waiting for a buck that never came sitting on a frozen clay knob and that was the only time I put on my rain shell as I was not moving. Overall the pants were great. Even nicked them on a barbed wire fence with no damage. They do protect from the wind and when I sat on snow I was cold but no moisture came through. The only thing is I wish they had side dump vents and the zippers zipped down and not up on the front pants. Good looking pant as well.
