  • Well Made, Comfortable & Warm
Color: Blue Night Size: X-Large
I really struggled with which size to get. I'm 5' 5", 155 lbs. According to the size chart (which is a PDF on the description page), I would be a Large. That's the 12-14 size, which I generally fit into for regular clothes. But I plan to wear this for snow shoveling and I want to put it over my clothes. I've never had snow overalls before, so I wasn't sure whether the size was manufactured anticipating pants being on underneath or not. I measured myself and saw that my measurements match the max end of the L measurements and the minimum end of the XL (16-18). So it seems I could go either way. I finally decided on an XL to be safe since I will be wearing them over clothes and too loose seems better than too tight. When they arrived they looked gigantic and really long, but once on, they look much more normal. As a test, I tried them on over what I was already wearing, which happened to be flannel PJ pants, a shirt and a thick sweater. The length is perfect. The body is comfortable, not too tight or too loose - but again; that's over regular clothes. If I wasn't planning to wear these over my clothes every time - or if I were wearing these for style - I would want the Large. But I'm happy with the XL because I like knowing that if I have to shovel I can throw these on over whatever I might happen to be wearing at the time; I'm lazy that way. The quality is excellent. Sturdy material, good stitching. They have good padding/insulation. I can sit down in them comfortably, they aren't constricting my movement at all. They have built-in gaiters with a grippy elastic to help keep cold air and snow out of the pant legs. They go on and come off very easily, so I no longer have to wrestle around trying to separate clinging fabric layers when I come in from the snow; the smooth lining slides right over my clothes. Smartest purchase I've made in a long time. **UPDATE March 2018** Seems only fair to update this after actually using them and not just trying them on. I tested them out the other day shoveling for 2 1/2 hours in nearly 3 feet of snow. I walked down a hill of snow up to my mid-thighs and was amazed to come out of it with virtually no snow on me, it just falls right off. None went up my pant legs either, so the elastic gaiters underneath really help. I was impressed that I stayed warm and completely dry the entire time. They were also very comfortable. It really made the whole miserable experience of shoveling snow not nearly so bad. I was so comfortable that I even stayed out a little longer when I was finished and played in the snow with my dog. *UPDATE December 2020* STILL love these things! They've stayed in brand new condition. Just got hit with nearly 3 feet and yet again I was amazed at how dry and warm I stayed while walking through very deep snow and shoveling for hours. I actually looked up this order tonight just to see what year I bought them and how much I paid for them because it's still the best purchase I've made in ages. ... show more

  • TLDR: They're good
Color: Black Size: Large Tall
Nov 20, 2019 I just got these and wanted to chime in as soon as possible. I will update as I abuse... erm... use them. Fit: Just to give you an idea, I am 5'7"ish and 175, and usually wear Wrangler Q Baby jeans in a 7/8×36" and in 5.11 EMT pants, I wear a 12L. Clearly, sizes rarely mean anything without context. My waist is 31" and widest part of my hips are 43". I have athletic(ish) thick thighs, and overall am an equally proportioned hour glass shape. Suffice to say, if you find clothing for curves a challenge, this review is for you. I purchased the Women's Large Tall, based entirely on hip measurements on the manufacturer chart. In the photo, I slipped these on over yoga pants and a sweat shirt with no "too snug" spots. Right away, I was able to do all my usual squat and stretch movements that I'll be doing for regular use. You'll notice the sticker says "Men's 34". This appears to confirm what another reviewer suggested, that these are the same as a men's medium tall. Which, is BS, cause the men's ones were fifteen bucks cheaper when I bought mine. Overall, I have no complaints on the fit, since I'll be wearing these over leggings and with uniform shirts and coats. The length was good for me. Barefoot, the hem just touched the floor, so I know I won't be dragging them, but also won't have to constantly pull them down to cover my ankles. Use: I'll be rocking these in Virginia, doing wilderness search and rescue... basically, crawling around in briars and other nasty stuff. Usually in temps between 15 and 40. I'm not expecting them to hold up against nature's sharpest stuff, so I won't hold it against them if I get rips. I have kevlar safety gear that can't hold up to that. Anyhow, these will hopefully protect against battering cold wind and precipitation. In years past, I've layered under my protective equipment and still come away with chapped, cracked, and bloodied wind burns. Features: I haven't seen anyone mention the lower leg layer. It looks like bloomers and is attached to the main leg, 8" from the bottom. The under layer has elastic, but isn't snug. I'll probably be tucking mine into muck boots, instead of over, since I'm more likely to be in standing water than snow. The side zip on the pant could afford to be less sticky, but it's not a deal breaker. The straps are easy to adjust and only stretch a little, so no drastic suspender snaps with those. The bib zipper moves freely and has a pull attached, so it can be operated with gloves. I was able to get them on and off without messing with the zipper, so if it ever busts, I know I can sew it shut and keep going. The pockets do zip shut. I'll never understand why manufacturers won't make those zip down, so we don't have to worry about them opening with gravity, and losing items. The zippers do move freely and have pulls. The inner pocket material looks a little cheap, so two strikes against using those pockets for anything but hand warming. For the ratings, they asked if they're flattering. They're not... if you ask me. My husband would never tell me if they weren't. He's a good man. I gave it 4 stars for water resistance to start. I'll go sit in something for science, today, but for the long term, I plan on treating these with water proofer, cause 2 hours from base, on foot, is not when I want to discover they're only kinda resistant. Bonus feature are reinforced ankle guards from where legs may sweep together. That's a big deal to me, since gortex and other rain suit brands have failed me here, so hopefully that holds up well. ... show more

  • Tight in the groin
Color: Blue Night Size: X-Large
I got an XL (listed for sizes 16-18. I am in between sizes 12 and 14 and I am in between L and XL). It fits everywhere, even loose in some spots, but the groin area was really tight for some reason. I could sit down comfortably, step up onto stuff, and walk around just fine. When I looked in the mirror though it was very obvious that it was not fitting in the groin area and looked like it was pulling and stretching. I did order the next size up in hopes that it stops that from happening but I'm worried that it will then be way too big in the areas it was loose in. So if you want extra comfort for your groin you might have to go up two sizes, or if you have a plumper cat and don't want to look like you are about to bust out you might want to consider upping your size. These pants were otherwise very warm and comfy so I hope it works out with the bigger size. ... show more
