I've been using the Otterbox symmetry series for years on all my iPhones and when I went to buy one for my new iPhone pro max I was surprised by some of the bad reviews so wanted to share my experience. I think a lot of people looking for a phone case don't realize that this is a different model than other Otterbox options. The case is designed to be less bulky, and doesn't curve over the screen like some of the other, larger options. However, having had this case on two past iPhones, I can tell you the protection is incredible, I've never so much as even had my screen protector crack, and I tend to drop my phone a lot. When I received this case, it fit exactly as expected based on my past experience with the symmetry models. It rises above the case, so if the phone were to fall on its face, no part of the screen would actually touch the ground, which is how it can offer such good protection without feeling bulky. It lines up perfectly in the charging areas and the buttons, and also offers raised protection in the back around the camera lenses, so that in case of a fall again they won't actually hit the ground. My favorite part about the symmetry cases is that they are so pretty and have fantastic designs. This one is bright and matches the product photos perfectly! Like I said, I've had these cases for three iPhones now, each phone lasted 3+ years without any damage and the cases lasted that long too. I'm thrilled to have a new one and looking forward to the next few years with this beautiful phone case.

I have used OtterBox Symmetry cases on multiple iPhones for a number of years now. I love that they come in clear color to show off the color of the phone itself (but other color choices are available too). Most importantly, these cases do a great job of protecting the phone while not being too bulky. To me, the OtterBox Symmetry series provide the perfect balance between protection and bulk. Please note that I always have a screen protector on my screen in addition to the case. I've dropped my phones multiple times and the case usually does a great job of protecting my phone without a scratch. However, the screen protector has also helped because in some instances, the screen protector itself has cracked. The other thing to now is that if the phone falls face down (screen-side down) on an uneven surface, such as a pebble on the road, then the case will not be enough to protect the glass. This has actually happened to me once, but it was very rare. Lastly, I love that this particular case is MagSafe compatible and allows me to wirelessly charge my phone while it's in the case. I also am happy with the price I paid. It was very good value. My only complaint based on past experience is that the clear OtterBox Symmetry cases do tend to discolor and get darker over time. However, I've been using this particular case for a couple of months and I am not noticing any discoloration. It's possible that it will discolor after a year or two, but I am ok with that. Pros: ======= - Easy to use and not too bulky - Provides adequate protection to the phone in most scenarios - Visually appealing - MagSafe compatible, allowing me to wirelessly charge while in the case and also compatible with MagSafe Accessories - Good value for the money Cons: ======= - May not protect against all drop scenarios - May discolor after some time

In the event that you are not aware, true MagSafe cases contain an NFC antenna built in with the magnet ring. The Symmetry Series case (and some others by Otterbox) is indeed "Made for MagSafe" and fully authorized by Apple. It includes both the magnets required for MagSafe functionality and an NFC antenna that communicates seamlessly with your iPhone 15 ProMax. This ensures that you can enjoy the full range of MagSafe features and functionality with the Symmetry Series case, including secure attachment and wireless charging. Most cases sold are merely "compatible with MagSafe" which means that they have only the magnets but do not include the antenna which offers extended functionality. I narrowed my choice to three clear cases: the Apple case, the Otterbox case and a Speck case. I learned that the Speck case was only "compatible with MagSafe," so that was out. The Apple case seems a bit too thin to offer much drop protection plus the bottom has one large cutout for the charging port and speakers which seems to leave that area exposed to potential damage. Otherwise, it has a minimal profile and nice, clear transparency. I also noted numerous reviews that said that the Apple case is extremely slippery to hold. I went with the Otterbox. The Otterbox case is nicely made and offers superior protection to the Apple case. Of course this protection also means that the edge profile is slightly thicker than that of the Apple case. The edge on the Otterbox case is slightly opaque. This is not really noticeable from the side but is more apparent looking when directly at the screen side. Of course, a clear edge would also be quite noticeable too. The case seems sufficiently "grippy" that I am not worried about it slipping inadvertently from my hand. If you are looking for a clear case, I would suggest that the Otterbox Symmetry case is the best way to go if you want the true functionality of a MagSafe case. Have had this since March and the stickies constantly get stuck on my phone. It’s an okay case - I am very careful with the phone so I believe it does its job but have not tested it. 7/31 - UPDATE: (Increased from 3 to 4 stars) See new photos from today. Cons: **The mag safes constantly remove on phone and I have to unpeel, on the occasions I remove my phone. **No OtterBox indication anywhere on case (that I’ve seen). Flimsy or flexible for a (depending on sales) $30-something - to - $40-something case. **Concerned with how much protection is provided from elements — The inside of the case and that part of my phone ended up with salt all over it even though I left it by the door to a salt spa/float therapy. I had to scrub my phone (have camera and screen protectors), in the nooks and crannies. Pros: the camera lip and screen edges are raised very much, although you cannot tell from the photo. **The case is very light - new case is like 2x heavier with phone in it. Has protected my phone - never have had a cracked screen. I’ve used a variety of screen brands (to try them out, to find one I like best) so I attribute it to the case. At 36, I have tried tons and tons of cases. I have a toddler. I am clumsy. And yet - this one has stood up pretty well. No scratches or really anything - easy to clean, only slight yellowing. If not for the mag safe peeling, I would stick with it.

Dust does build easily in the corners and it’s annoying to clean, but this is made up for because of how durable the case is. Absolutely will purchase again in the future if need be

UPDATE JUNE 2026: After 2 years the case finally shown its wear. The rubber surround now comes off the plastic backing. That is by far the longest a case has ever lasted me. I wanted to get another one but unfortunately they discontinued the Arizona Sunset color. Absolutely loved it and wanted to get a replacement but unfortunately I can't get one. DECEMBER 2024: The case came in and isn’t faded at all like some of the other reviews stated. The feel of the case is really nice and really holds your phone in. It looks really nice, and just like the pictures, the side buttons are a completely different color than the case and provide a very nice contrast to the look. I have the blue titanium, and I was worried it would look bad with that phone color, but it looks good and adds a nice contrast. Also the side buttons work perfectly and are easy to use and don’t stick out too much. It’s an overall nice case and I highly recommend it!!

To start, I love this product. Since my purchase, I have noticed a couple things: Pros: 1. Love the design and sleek feel of it overall 2. Grippy in-hand, does not feel like it will slip 3. Shock absorption is great and I am confident this will not get damaged if dropped from a few feet Cons: 1. Magsafe Ring: I wish this was a bit stronger as I feel my magsafe wallet is pretty loose on this compared to my other case (Casetify Impact Clear). As you can see from this review, there are plenty of pros to this case that outweigh the cons. One thing to also note for the iPhone 15 Pro Series, I actually prefer the cutout for the action button as I often get it mixed up with the volume up button on this Otterbox. I did not put this as a pro nor con as I know I am in the minority and just decided to keep it separate here. I am overall very happy with this purchase and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a reliable yet durable case for everyday use.
