I love Osprey backpacks and have several. I found that I needed something for an extended hiking trip where most nights were in mountain huts and only occasional nights where we needed sleeping bags. So something in between a full on backpacking backpack but slightly bigger than a day pack since we would need a sleeping bag shoved in there. My husband has a Talon (men's version of the Tempest) and I really liked it so decided to order the Tempest for myself. Turns out his version is an old model and the new version has a VERY small opening for the hydration bladder. So small that the new width barely lets me slide my hand in the pouch and despite several attempts, I couldn't get the hydration bladder inserted. At first I thought that there may be some strap that I forgot to loosen. I wrote to Osprey and got a response explaining that the new version has a smaller opening and the suggestion was that I insert the empty bladder and then fill the bladder. Even empty, it was difficult to insert. I did not attempt to try and fill because I realized this was not going to be a sustainable solution. I really loved all the other features of the pack and will definitely buy one if they redesign the opening.

This is a really solid backpack for the price -- has tons of features without breaking the bank. Setup for hydration (need to bring your own), tons of pockets and storage. Built solid, and of course the lifetime Osprey warranty. This 30l is a great size, good enough for a day or two, small enough for a day hike if needed without being huge.

I got this for a hiking trip I recently took. This backpack is larger than a typical one, with a hard back to support. I was able to use this as a carry on and it help more than I thought it would. I love all the pockets and organization it provides. Theres literally pockets and zipper pouches everywhere. Theres a spot for everything you could think of. Spots for phone, chapstick, ample space for water bottles, shoes, clothes, gear, literally anything you can think of. I really liked the front pocket, it was rather deep and has a snap connector so everything stays snug and inside. It was very hand to just reach in and grab from this front pocket without having to open the main opening. It held larger water containers for me and kept me hydrated while hiking. You can have this thing packed to the rim or lightly packed, and it carries well. It doesn't feel heavy. Lots of support while wearing this with the straps.

This day pack has a ton of storage, along with compartments throughout! Super solid and super lightweight. The mesh material will keep it off your back and keep you dry! Osprey really pays attention to detail, as the shoulder straps and harness make this super comfortable to wear. My only complaint is the lack of bladder which Osprey is famous for, for the suggested retail price, would like to see this included.

A very nice well made small pack. It holds 30 liters of stuff, approximately. The one pictured has a summer sleeping bag in it. It is comfortable, It has good ventilation features and the strap system helps to keep the pack where it belongs. If you buy this pack don't expect to carry too much. This may be perfect for a light weight camper. If this is the size you are looking for, it is a good choice. You can install a water bladder for sipping water on the trail, It is well made and lightweight. Nothing negative I could see of find. If this is what you are looking for enjoy buying it as it is a good small backpack.
