  • Perfect Upgrade!
Style: 22l Color: Green Canopy/Pine Leaf
Wow, what a difference this backpack has made for me! I had about 500 hiking miles on my old pack, an Osprey Daylite Plus (a great pack, too) and decided I needed something just a little bigger, with a better hip belt, and upgrading to the Talon 22L was the perfect solution. I’m not an ultra-lighter and tend to carry more than I probably need, but I solo hike and everything I carry is for “just in case” I get myself into trouble. With the Daylite Plus I was making trade-offs for every hike, deciding what I could leave at home, based on the weather, since I didn’t have quite enough room to carry everything I wanted to carry. That problem has been solved now with the Talon 22L. Not only can I carry more comfortably, but with the number of adjustments you can make, I’d say most people would have a hard time not finding this to be a great fit. I can see how this backpack may be overkill for most day hikes, and ultralighters may find it a little heavy, but those are the only things I can think of that would deter somebody from getting one of these. If you like to carry a lot, even on shorter hikes, you really can’t go wrong with this pack. Solidly built like my other Osprey packs and will most likely outlive me! Plus, with Osprey’s All Mighty Guarantee, you really can’t go wrong. Highly recommended and worth the money! ... show more

  • Great day pack.
Style: 22l Color: Green Canopy/Pine Leaf
Great day pack. I needed something a little more suited for day hikes since my old bag was hurting my shoulders. I never really understood the osprey hype before, just thought it was $$ for the name. I ordered this bag on a Thursday, received it Friday and took it out on a 5 mile hike with 1300ft elevation gain the next day. It’s super comfortable, fits really well, and love the color and style. Hip belt pockets are easily accessed and zippers work with one hand. I had no soreness from the bag at all not in my shoulders or back or anything. ... show more

  • Expensive well-made backpack
Style: 22l Color: Phantom Grey/Dark Charcoal
This backpack has an internal frame that makes it very comfortable on the back. The wide shoulder straps allow the pack to be carried for long periods of time. The fabric, straps, zippers, and loops are all quality materials. Stitching and overall construction is well done. There is plenty of room in the main compartment, and in well-located pouches. Value wise, the pack is very expensive, but it is probably worth it to avid hikers. ... show more

  • Comfortable, high-quality backpack
Style: 22l Color: Green Canopy/Pine Leaf
I have been very pleased with Osprey backpacks, including this one. I have a 33 liter Osprey Talon that I use when I carry more layers in the winter. I use this one in the summer months. It has more capacity than I really need for day hikes, but it is light and comfortable and I toss in extra weight for a higher calorie burn. ... show more

  • The Dada hauling pack
Style: 22l Color: Phantom Grey/Dark Charcoal
Ok... I've wrestled with this pack for a good long while now. I was nervous as I saw a review that said the fabric connecting the straps to the pack made it uncomfortable, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I think there could be a couple things going on there. But in my experience, it's a perfect Dad pack (I have to carry all the extra stuff for the kids that's too much weight for them on our very long day hikes). To address the straps right off the bat, I think that you need to let the pack sit low enough that it's slightly below your shoulders. Long time backpackers may have trouble with this idea as they are probably used to getting their packs as high as possible to try and get the weight directly above their hips (as much as possible). That's not necessary here. Once the pack is positioned properly, the straps don't touch your neck at all. As to sizing, the pack is plenty big enough for me to take what we call the "pee pee potty," spare bags, my snacks, first aid kit, all the generic emergency (oops we got stuck here for the night) stuff. The bag itself is very light. Essentially negligible. The bag functions like all Osprey bags, flawlessly. The zipper pulls are almost a gross motor movement with the permanent finger loops. The bags are pricey, but they last a very long time under heavy use. The only random thing I recommend is to tack all the straps to your size. If someone else needs to wear it they can cut them easily. When you're wearing it, once you've figured out your sweet spot, you won't have to adjust it anymore. ... show more
