Delivered April 12. Let's assume I installed it that day. I work a desk job! If I open my tailgate twice a day that's a lot. Strut failed May 3. Went to open the tailgate and noticed it fell too far. Tested twice more and the top mount on the Strut let go as it is in about 2 threads. Noticed Oil all over the strut but as it was the only one I have I tried to work with it. Took the Strut off and threaded on further. Put it back on. Tested two more times and the bottom mount of the Strut pulled out of its two threads! Put it back together and striped the Strut ends or bent them. Dunno but it's shot! If the manufacturer wants to send me a couple replacement struts I would leave 5 stars after 6 months if the first replacement doesn't fail. As it is I have to buy a new one but it won't be this one. At least the mounts will work for a good one. Buy the Branded on this one! I do not have a bedliner or LineX on my tailgate. It was not heavy. Loved it for 3 weeks! ... show more

Instructions are clear, so all went well, no problem with installation, until the final check. Closed the tailgate and opened it and bam, the end the hydraulic rod separated, it must have been threaded just enough to keep it on until testing. No huge problem, I took the hydraulic rod off, removed the end from the tailgate and screwed the end back onto the rod properly, then reinstalled, Quality control problems? ... show more

Installation was a little tricky, but if you follow the directions and even better if you watch the videos on YouTube, you shouldn’t have any trouble in the end it was worth it because it works really well. So much better than having my tailgate slam open every time I open it.

Super easy to install and by far the best quick mod for any vehicle with a tailgate. I was able to install the dampener in about 10 minutes with ease. The tailgate now opens nice and smooth, literally gliding down to the fully open position. Made the very heavy tailgate on my RAM1500 much easier to handle when opening with items in my hands. Usage of the nutsert is NOT explained well at all. ONLY MOVE THE 10MM wrench. The t45 tool for the tailgate bolt doesnt fit, its too big. Have to get on from lowes that ACTUALLY fits. A 10 minute job is now an hour plus job for no other reason than poor QA. Stupid thing isnt even on the truck yet.
