UPDATE 9/22/2025: Still a solid choice. Although the 12GB EU SIM option now seems to have disappeared from this seller's page, I purchased one in July 2025 and used it in Germany the following month. Everything worked the same as detailed in my earlier review, and still gets a deserving 5 stars. The reseller now adds the (Orange France) phone number and quick setup instructions inside the packaging, so even better in that regard. ORIGINAL REVIEW 2024: This review is for the 12GB physical SIM card used in an older unlocked, dual SIM, 4G-only phone. The reviews for this card are all over the place, but I took a chance and bought one for a trip to Germany. Surprise, it worked right out of the package with nothing else required on my part. Another big surprise was that I discovered my phone is actually capable of Wi-Fi calling because the option magically appeared in my SIM management menus. I later learned that my phone is "only partially compatible" with my current provider in the US and doesn't allow for Wi-Fi calling. Go figure; took me 4 years to figure that out. 12GB is actually a lot of mobile data; I doubt I even used half of that in two weeks. Speeds were fine when the signal was good. The quirks and annoyances referenced in the title are the following: I was suprised to see the signal connecting to all 3 of the big carriers in Germany (Telekom, Vodaphone, O2) and it jumped around constantly to -I guess- whichever tower had the strongest signal. You will get a lot of calls from France; some to remind you to register the card (not needed if less than 14 days) and others just garbage from a recycled phone number. You have to dial correctly since you are roaming with a French phone number; basically dialing international long distance wherever you're calling. Also, no MMS is allowed. I know everyone uses apps, but I'm a geezer and like attaching a photo to a short message. For me at least, then, the card worked out great and saved me a ridiculous amount in roaming fees. ... show more

What a useless SIM. Used one in Italy six years ago and it worked great, based on that experience I decided to use the same card on my ( 3/2026) trip to Spain with my Samsung S10. Used this SIM in Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid it only worked reliably in Madrid. I did the necessary registration as needed by the provider, restarted the phone numerous times, set all the internal phone options as suggested. None of this was needed on my trip 6 years ago. I would say for the 10 days of my trip the SIM worked 10% of the time. The person I was staying with in Madrid had a Vodafone Sim with 90 gigs a month for $15 that sim worked perfectly. ... show more

I will say I had a bit of concern when I purchased these Sim cards. We use cheap Motorola phones that are unlocked. We do go through Verizon for our normal service so I was concerned a bit about the CDMA versus GSM type phones. The SIM cards worked perfectly in all three of our phones. It was as simple as taking out the existing SIM card and putting in the orange holiday Sim card. We did turn the phones off to make this exchange and then turn the phones back on and it took roughly 30 seconds to 1 minute for the cards to activate. That was it nothing else. The only downside that I can think of is the registration code that you will need if you need to use your sim card for more than 30 days is on the packaging for the Sim not on the SIM itself. My daughter is doing study abroad and threw her packaging away so at her 30-day mark she was not able to top up her card she had to go to a kiosk and buy a brand new card. I honestly don't think the cost for buying a new card was all that different from topping up so it was not a big deal at all to have to do this and they are kiosk all over Europe. My daughter has used hers in Valencia Barcelona and Madrid. She also traveled to Italy and went to Rome and Florence. She has had no issues with her card. My husband and daughter traveled throughout Europe for 2 weeks and had no issues in any of their locations. ... show more

Your "local" phone number will be from France. So you can call UK numbers, but they may not be able to call you back. And figuring out which country codes to use taxed my patience. Some texts do not go through until you're connected to data, and I was unable to send picture texts consistently. Group texts were also spotty. Inserted sim in phone just before the plane landed at CDG, when we landed I turned it on, within seconds I had a welcome text telling me the card was active, the phone number and that it had TWENTY not 12GB of data. It worked seamlessly all over France. It lost signal crossing the border from France into Germany, restarting the phone reset the sim to the German network and it worked perfectly from there through Switzerland. The quality of the connections, the speed, and never being in a dead zone make this a great travel option. I used it as a hotspot on one phone and had others in my group tethered to it for wifi calling, they could call home using their US phone numbers and receive US texting, calls including telemarketers. Can't get away from everything. BUY this sim, you'll be glad. I still had 9GB of data left when we came home. I won't be traveling to Europe again without one. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We just returned from Europe yesterday. This was our 5th trip in 2 years and the 4th time using an An Orange Holiday Europe Sim. As before it worked flawlessly. It was the first time with Roaming Saver. I followed the familiar directions and it just worked. The 30 day plan was perfect as we were there 29 days and I used less than 3 GB of the 12 GB provided. With the physical Sim in my old Android phone it worked within minutes of turning on. Phone, data and texting all worked. I will be using this again on our next trip. It worked seamlessly from France to Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, back to France and Switzerland. The only issue I've had in the past was learning that the country code is required for phone calls or texting. It wasn't necessary for me, but if you have issues, contact the vendor Roaming Saver not the phone company Orange. From my personal experience I highly recommend this product.
