  • Like it more than Sonicare I had for almost 15 years
Style: iO8 Power Handle Color: Blackonyx
I've had the the iO8 for a little over a month now, so here goes... After almost 15 years, my Sonicare finally bit the dust. It was a great toothbrush, but I used the opportunity to explore other options. When I bought the iO8, the iO10 was the latest and greatest, but the iO10 was over 200 dollars more, and as far as I could tell, the only inherent differences where a base that lit up, a speckled handle (super cool aesthetic - that's not sarcasm) and an extra tongue cleaning mode? None of these could get me to justify the price difference so I got the 8 on sale. Overall, I am VERY happy with switch over from Sonicare. The features I think are better than Sonicare are: • the weight and form factor (I know things have changed in 15 years - my wife has a new Sonicare, so even compared to that I think this guy has a leg up). • the LCD screen. This is really great. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it does some great things. It lets me know how long I have been brushing, it's visible while brushing from my peripheral, it tells me the percentage of battery is left, and the visual rewards when you finish (I live for the starred-eye happy face) actually must do something, because I shoot to get that guy every time. • the charging base is magnetic and heavier, which is not only more secure, but feels more modern. • the rotating brush action feels closer to the dentist cleaning which I dig. My teeth feel cleaner after brushing with this compared to the Sonicare. • the iO8 has more cleaning modes than the Sonicare. Granted I only use the intense mode, but that's me. • I like that the timer on the iO8 just keeps going. The Sonicare just turns off after 2 minutes, but the iO8 will let you keep brushing if you choose to. • while brushing, the iO8 will give periodic buzzes every 30 seconds. The Sonicare does too, but the iO8 will buzz a number of times to let you know which interval you are at. 30 = 1 buzz, 60 = 2 buzzes...resets after 2 minutes. There is one area where iO8 falters compared to the Sonicare, and it's not so much the brush but the iO brush heads. For some reason, Oral-B decided to put two little holes towards on the head close to the brush itself. I can't decipher any functional reason, so it must be for aesthetics? When you brush your teeth, these holes collect saliva and feed it down the interior of the brush head where it naturally leaks out the bottom. For a second, I thought, as a 42 year old person, that I had forgotten how to not drool all over myself. Seriously Oral-B, get this together. The iO8 also has an app that I have used a total of one time. I tend to brush my teeth in the shower most of the time and, even when I don't, I'm not going to watch my phone to determine where I have brushed well or not. So that's gimmicky. Also, and my dentist told me this before I got the iO8, Oral-B heads are taller than Sonicare heads. So if you have a tiny mouth (not me), you might want to reconsider. As mentioned before, I REALLY like this toothbrush. When I see the dentist next l, I won't have to lie about brushing twice a day. ... show more

  • Amazing toothbrush had to supply one for entire family “Yes, it’s that good”
Style: iO8 Power Handle Color: Violetametrine
Best in class and works great with cleaning thoroughly and leaving teeth squeaky clean. App does great job guiding and making sure you don’t miss any teeth and area of your mouth.

  • Starting to show problems.
Style: iO8 Power Handle Color: Blackonyx
Great toothbrush. I bought another for my spouse because I enjoyed it so much. That said, it's starting to spray from the connection where the head connects to the brush. I'm not sure it was worth the price, but I do like it thus far.

My teeth feel so much better! I don't know if there is real AI behind this, but it's really good at tracking my brushing habits and providing feedback.

  • Outstanding! - The Product and Oral B and Amazon!
Style: iO8 Power Handle Color: Whitealabaster
I have loved this toothbrush every day for almost two years. It does such a great job. A few weeks ago it stopped holding a charge. I looked it up in my Amazon order history. It was ~eight weeks inside the 2-year warranty. I contacted Oral B and they gave me return instructions. They were courteous and helpful. I sent it to them and they checked it out and sent me a brand new toothbrush. I had it within a week. Without Amazon's Order History, I would never have found my purchase info to be able to submit for a warranty fix or replace. Love Amazon! Love Oral B! My teeth and I love my toothbrush! ... show more

  • High Maintenance Toothbrush! Wish I didn't spend 200 dollars on it!
Style: iO8 Power Handle Color: Violetametrine
I hope to put into words how much I dislike this toothbrush. I purchased this toothbrush, October 2023, I believe. Previously, I had a Sonicare. I liked my Sonicare, but every 2 years, it would get very LOUD and need to be replaced. I was annoyed that they seemed to only last 2 years, and the replacement heads are quite expensive. So I decided to try my first Oral B. I liked that it had all the fancy features and even an app. So, you're probably wondering what my problem is with this toothbrush. It seems great! Sure, it was great, but maybe 2 weeks after starting to use it, I noticed a musty smell. I looked up how to clean it. It said you need to take the toothbrush head off each time you brush your teeth and rinse it. So I did that. I rinsed it every day. I rinsed it multiple times a day. I even replaced the brush head. I noticed some black gunk inside the brush head and the handle. I cleaned it. I also noticed that the battery barely lasted over a week. I was only using it at night, and in the morning I just brush manually (I dont know why, but anyway, I wasn't using the battery twice daily, only once. It definitely should last longer than a week). I even emailed Oral B for support. Oral B was great. I sent in my toothbrush and they ended up replacing it. I don' t know the reason for replacement, maybe they did see the black gunk in there, that they claimed "could'nt be mold" because the toothbrush isn't made of organic materials, therefore, they said, it's impossible to grow mold. OK, sure. Anyway, they were quick to replace it and I appreciated the timely response and turnaround time. FYI, if you send in your toothbrush, they require you to get a UPS driver signature to prove that you handed the box over to them in good condition. If you bring it to a UPS store, they will refuse to sign the paper- ask me how I know... So that's where they earn their one star. I absolutely hate this toothbrush. I rinse it EVERY time I use it, which is a pain in the rear because you also have to let it dry. The brush head doesn't have a flat bottom that you can place on your counter, you have to put it on a towel or lean it against something. I also hate that I'm adding another cleaning chore to my day, twice a day. What parent or person really needs MORE things to clean? And even though I do rinse it, there is STILL black gunk inside. I cannot get it out. I cannot get it clean. Inside the brush head, there is also some kind of gunk. There are three little holes on the back of the brush head, which I can see the gunk building up and it is impossible to clean. There are also grooves in the bottom part of the brush head where I can see black stuff, which I try to clean out, but there are so many little crevices, it is impossible. The handle also often has black goo/chunks come out of it when I rinse it daily. It is disgusting. I don't use black toothpaste, in case you were wondering. This must be some kind of mildew. I think it's unsanitary and I can't wait to switch to another toothbrush. Also, the app's guided brushing is not accurate at all. It would say I was brushing my front teeth while I am on the molars. I like the idea of the app, but there's absolutely no mouth mapping or anything- it's kind of one size fits all- so I can see how that wouldn't be entirely accurate. I hope this review helps someone who is trying to decide whether to purchase this brush, or if it's worth $200. It's not worth it. I dont know if all Oral B toothbrushes fit together the same, or if anyone else has the same issue. I will never purchase one again. ... show more
