I've had the the iO8 for a little over a month now, so here goes... After almost 15 years, my Sonicare finally bit the dust. It was a great toothbrush, but I used the opportunity to explore other options. When I bought the iO8, the iO10 was the latest and greatest, but the iO10 was over 200 dollars more, and as far as I could tell, the only inherent differences where a base that lit up, a speckled handle (super cool aesthetic - that's not sarcasm) and an extra tongue cleaning mode? None of these could get me to justify the price difference so I got the 8 on sale. Overall, I am VERY happy with switch over from Sonicare. The features I think are better than Sonicare are: • the weight and form factor (I know things have changed in 15 years - my wife has a new Sonicare, so even compared to that I think this guy has a leg up). • the LCD screen. This is really great. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it does some great things. It lets me know how long I have been brushing, it's visible while brushing from my peripheral, it tells me the percentage of battery is left, and the visual rewards when you finish (I live for the starred-eye happy face) actually must do something, because I shoot to get that guy every time. • the charging base is magnetic and heavier, which is not only more secure, but feels more modern. • the rotating brush action feels closer to the dentist cleaning which I dig. My teeth feel cleaner after brushing with this compared to the Sonicare. • the iO8 has more cleaning modes than the Sonicare. Granted I only use the intense mode, but that's me. • I like that the timer on the iO8 just keeps going. The Sonicare just turns off after 2 minutes, but the iO8 will let you keep brushing if you choose to. • while brushing, the iO8 will give periodic buzzes every 30 seconds. The Sonicare does too, but the iO8 will buzz a number of times to let you know which interval you are at. 30 = 1 buzz, 60 = 2 buzzes...resets after 2 minutes. There is one area where iO8 falters compared to the Sonicare, and it's not so much the brush but the iO brush heads. For some reason, Oral-B decided to put two little holes towards on the head close to the brush itself. I can't decipher any functional reason, so it must be for aesthetics? When you brush your teeth, these holes collect saliva and feed it down the interior of the brush head where it naturally leaks out the bottom. For a second, I thought, as a 42 year old person, that I had forgotten how to not drool all over myself. Seriously Oral-B, get this together. The iO8 also has an app that I have used a total of one time. I tend to brush my teeth in the shower most of the time and, even when I don't, I'm not going to watch my phone to determine where I have brushed well or not. So that's gimmicky. Also, and my dentist told me this before I got the iO8, Oral-B heads are taller than Sonicare heads. So if you have a tiny mouth (not me), you might want to reconsider. As mentioned before, I REALLY like this toothbrush. When I see the dentist next l, I won't have to lie about brushing twice a day.

I don't usually write reviews but i knew when I purchased this tooth brush that i wanted to write one for it. After my last Denist appointment I decided manual toothbrushes simply was not doing the job so I decided it was time to invest in my oral care & switch a few things that simply just was not working anymore .. So i tested it out for a month & man i love this toothbrush & look forward everyday to brushing my teeth & hitting the goals set , I’ve seen such a difference in the overall health of my teeth & color . I love that it times your brushing , also allows you to keep like a little brushing journal , tracks gum bleeding & when to change the brush head . All things i feel is really convenient to update ur dentist on when you visit . I also picked up a night routine which to be honest i wasn't a consistent night brusher before with my manual toothbrush at all & would oftentimes fall asleep forgetting . Not anymore this toothbrush gives my mouth such a deep clean I almost enjoy & look forward to that feeling day & night . The battery life does go down fast within like 2 weeks it needs a recharge but thats not really a issue to me at all . I do still use a manual toothbrush for my tongue my own personal preference . I think my favorite part is brushing for the amount of time recommended because i know for sure in the past i wasn’t hitting that goal . Overall this is the most expensive toothbrush i ever brought considering i only ever used manual toothbrushes my whole life lol , but im glad i ignored the negative reviews & purchased anyway because i love it & can never go back to regular on the shelves toothbrushes like ever . Ohh & the light up colors are pretty to 😊

I tried 1 oral b before, it was decent rattled more than I like, it literally whacked my teeth clean and didn’t hold charge searched round started using a high end Sonicare for some time smooth powerful clean then recent I got a filling and my tooth became extremely sensitive to cold/hot and harder foods. I complained for months to my dentist tried different methods tried antibiotics that worked until bottle was empty but overall NOTHING worked and last visit decided on scheduling root canal. In mean time I stumbled across this tooth brush with “Super Sensitive” mode and was like ehh why not. Ok boom no root canal I’m back to eating on that side again. I haven’t even used it that long, dentist should recommend this toothbrush. I don’t care how much you love other brushes and how clean your teeth feel trust me they’re damaging your nerves might not can tell right now but they are trust me cause the whole time I was thinking it’s filling or I’m flossing wrong or getting older, at a young age, because some other teeth started getting slightly sensitive to cold or hot foods but no just needed a toothbrush that don’t aggravate nerves in your teeth and still leaves polished clean feel. THIS THE ONE! I can bite ice cream and chew through stone Update: Lasted over 1 year and some months then no power out of nowhere no indications just fully stopped not worth it it’s too expensive on top of the brush heads prices so stick to basic oral b unless you got money to burn it’s good while it lasts

I thought I did a pretty good job brushing my teeth with a regular ol' toothbrush. Well, not old, I replace it every 3 months. At any rate, I noticed my teeth weren't as clean as I would like so I added mouthwash and started flossing more regularly, but... nothing matched that dental cleaning smooth. The last time I saw my dentist was early Covid 2020. They had _just_ reopened with new health/safety protocols. I was apprehensive, but figured it would be safe?? NO!!! I blinked and that man had taken his mask off!! THE MAN IN EVERYONE's MOUTH!!! Unmasked!! OMG!!! Okay, sorry... PTSD. Back to the Oral-B iO 8. That... I. LOVE!! It connects to an app that shows you everything! While you brush, you get feedback both on the app and on the toothbrush. If you brush too hard, RED light. If you are too timid, it tells you to apply more pressure. You can use the brush on its own and get that feedback, but the app also shows spots you are missing. It times you. It tells you what percentage you were overzealous. It tells you to move on. There are several modes to meet your fresh mouth goals. The very first time I used it, I felt like I had just come from an official cleaning. Oooh, how I needed that! Did I meantion I'm in love?? The only thing lacking is a tongue cleaning mode. I could've sworn I saw it exists, but I have not found it yet. Bottom line... I am no longer a cavewoman scraping my teeth with a stick. You should get with the times too. Get yourself an Oral-B iO!!

I had a Phillips toothbrush previously and I decided to give this one a try after seeing how high it was rated in Consumer Reports. The toothbrush works great and has a very nice feel to the handle. It has way more features than I would ever use but I do like the light that indicates whether you have the correct amount of pressure. I also like the vibration indication when you are done with a row. The main thing I noticed between Phillips and this toothbrush was the diameter of the handle by the brush is bigger on this one so your mouth is open a bit more. It felt strange at first but now its fine. I was concerned about the base on this one since there are no sides to hole it but it works very well. The magnetic ball socket holds it in place better than I was expecting. The other nice feature is the toothbrush starts up slowly, so you can press the button and get it in your mouth without toothpaste going everywhere. I used the phone app once. It worked well but for me it isn't worth getting the phone out every day which I am brushing. The battery life is very good. In general, this is a pretty pricey toothbrush with a lot of sensors packed into it. I don't know if it is really worth the price but I am very happy with it.

I appreciate premium products and luxury brands. I'm willing to pay more for quality, engineering, reliability, and a better overall experience. I have no problem spending extra money when a product actually deserves its premium price. Unfortunately, this Oral-B iO Series 8 has been one of the most disappointing purchases I've made. I paid $183.71 for this toothbrush in August 2025, and the battery performance is absolutely unacceptable. Somwtimes, the toothbrush can sit on its charger for 12 HOURS and still show absolutely no signs of life. Completely black screen, no response, nothing. Other times, it starts working, only to shut off after FIVE SECONDS of brushing because the battery suddenly dies. This happens repeatedly, sometimes twice a week! We're talking about a toothbrush. How difficult can it be to make one that reliably turns on and brushes your teeth? Then there's the messy design, with toothpaste and saliva running down the handle while brushing, and after, leaving messy countertop. Another basic usability issue that shouldn't exist on a product at this price. And all those fancy features? The app, Bluetooth connectivity, brushing scores, smart recommendations, and colorful display? I played with them for the first month, then completely stopped caring. I don't need an app telling me how to brush my teeth. I need a toothbrush that WORKS. Here's the ridiculous part. In December 2021, I purchased an AquaSonic Duo Pro set, TWO electric toothbrushes for a total of $74.35. Almost FIVE YEARS later, those toothbrushes are still working perfectly. My wife still uses hers. Meanwhile, this single Oral-B costs more than twice as much as that entire set and can't even reliably finish a brushing session. And here's what frustrates me most: If this exact same toothbrush had some unknown generic brand printed on it instead of Oral-B, I would have thrown it straight into the garbage during the first week. But because it says Oral-B, a brand I associated with quality, I've continued keeping it on my bathroom vanity, giving it chances it absolutely doesn't deserve. That's the power of branding, and apparently I fell for it. I'm not against expensive products. Quite the opposite. I enjoy owning high-end products and appreciate excellent engineering. But premium pricing without premium quality is meaningless. Oral-B managed to pack this toothbrush with technology I don't need while apparently failing to deliver the one thing that matters most: basic reliability. Zero stars for reliability. Zero stars for value. And a very expensive lesson about trusting a brand name.
