My e-bike is my primary mode of transportation, so when I decided to customize it, I decided that the decals should also add some safety. I found this reflective vinyl and though I'd give it a shot. I cut these decals with my Cricut Explore Air 2 with the premium fine point blade on the iron-on setting (in retrospect I would probably actually use a higher level of pressure; I still hadn't quite cut through the adhesive layer). Here's what I found: The reflective layer is retro-reflective. That means it bounces light back in the direction of the light source. This is ideal for making something visible to cars, since it will redirect their headlight light back at them, and cars who are pointed at you are the ones you most need to be visible to. The reflective layer does also make the vinyl very brittle and the adhesive layer is very thick. This makes it very ill-suited to intricate cuts with fine details. You can not do the kinds of things with this vinyl that you would do with normal Oracal like 651. It also doesn't stretch so you can't really apply it to a countoured surface unless you put in some relief cuts. Flat or cylindrical surfaces work great (like my bike frame here). The strong adhesive is also great for outdoor or vehicle applications. It did come rolled very tightly, but I was able to negate the curve of it by wrapping it around a large (3") tube in the opposite direction Pros: Strong reflective factor High visibility Very strong adhesive Easy use (within material limitations) Stealth: can't tell it's reflective in daylight. I used the suggestion from another review that said use the Cricut Metallic Vinyl setting and it worked perfect. Did not have to do any additional runs during cutting. The material is foil-like so it does rip easily. I got black vinyl which shows white with a flash or headlights. Works perfect for the mailbox ... show more

This review is for the "Black Reflective" version. First impression is mostly favorable. I docked one star due to it being VERY tightly rolled, so I'm unsure yet how successfully I will be able to use it in my Cricut. Once it warmed to room temperature I unrolled it and it is currently being flattened under some heavy books. It appears to be almost as reflective as the "Silver White" version I purchased from the same retailer at the same time, however - my impression is that the light source seems to need to be from the same perspective as the viewer for full, bright reflection. Just an FYI, and my opinion only. I will update my review once I actually use it in my Cricut; I will be using it for numbers on a mailbox, which hasn't been purchased yet as I'm not sure what color I want LOL Pictures include viewing it from a distance of 5 feet under artificial light and then in the dark with a flashlight; the black reflective roll, reviewed here, is the right-hand roll. I use Oracal reflective but normally bought from sign shops. In needing it quickly i ordered from here. WHY do they continue to roll vinyl SO tightly and small ?? If you know anything about vinyl its a pain in the ass to use it this way. So i have to lay it out,put heavy things on top of it to get it unrolled and flat and now the entire sheet is tunneling .. so once its flat ill have to raise it all off the backing and lay it back down . not to mention it was stuck to itself and ripped at the bottom. When all i wanted to do is open it , load it and cut. Waste of time and money ... show more

We wanted reflective numbers on our mailbox post. Our numbers are oil rubbed bronze, so the black film blends nicely and is not noticeable during the day. We used a heat gun as added insurance to make sure the film stuck, but it was not necessary at all. Even on our relatively thin/narrow numbers, there is still a nice amount of reflection at night. ... show more
