  • Just follow the directions for perfect popcorn.
Style: Popper Only
The key to this as with ANY microwave popcorn maker or the pre-bagged stuff is simply DO NOT USE THE POPCORN SETTING ON THE MICROWAVE. Honestly from the time microwaves came out with the setting, every manufacturer has said not to use it, and idk why microwaves still have it. Follow the instructions included with this bowl. 1 - FULLY EXTEND THE BOWL BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN. Some of the pics I see in the reviews have the bowl still collapsed with burnt popcorn inside. The bowl collapses for storage. For popping, extend the bowl. It was hard for me to get it into the extended position the first time, but as you work with it, it will get easier. 2 - Fill the bottom of the bowl up to the top of the bottom indention for a full bowl (about 1/3 cup of kernels); a little less for a half bowl (about 1/4 cup of kernels). You can use a little oil here if you are inclined to, but the silicone will be much easier to clean if you skip that and add it after the fact in a different bowl. 3 - Place the lid on the bowl, put inside the microwave. 4 - DO NOT USE THE POPCORN SETTING. This bears repeating. First of all, the popcorn setting assumes you are using bagged popcorn with the reflector inside as well as oil which will heat the kernels differently than air popping. Also, popcorn settings require that you choose the bag size/number of ounces. Just set the timer for 3 mins and wait by the microwave; DON'T WALK AWAY AND DO SOMETHING ELSE WHILE IT IS POPPING. Even pre-bagged popcorn says this. 5 - When you hear the popping slow down to the point that there are 2 or 3 seconds between pops, take it out. Sometimes it only takes 2 minutes for that to happen, sometimes it takes 2 mins and 48 seconds. It's all going to depend on how fresh your kernels are, how long they have been sitting on the shelf open, the humidity level in your house, and a BUNCH of other factors. If for some reason you get close to the 3 minute mark and the popping has not slowed yet, use the "add 30 seconds" button most microwaves have now so you can add time without stopping the microwave. But ONLY if the popping has not slowed down to 2 - 3 seconds between pops. 6 - remove the bowl from the microwave, remove the lid from the bowl, pour popcorn to a hard-sided easy to clean bowl to add salt, butter, other flavorings. Simple. I find that this has been the best way to enjoy popcorn several times a week. It's much cheaper to by the kernels by the bottle than in the bags with all the stuff added, it allows me more freedom to flavor it the way I want it, and all without having to make space for an air or oil popper that would sit on the counter. As long as I don't add the toppings to the popping bowl, cleanup is a breeze -- just rinse and dry. ... show more

  • Best, Most Foolproof Popcorn Popper EVER!
Style: Popper Only
The easiest, the cleanest, no oil needed. Fast, predictable results in the microwave in about 3 minutes. I threw my Whirly Popper away. This is the ONLY way to nuke-pop. You learn the right amount of dry kernals to add to the popper--trial and error. Start with a couple of tablespoons full--dry, no oil. The popcorn you buy will vary in its final yield of popped corn. So each time you switch brands, you'll get a slightly different quantity of finished corn. Popping time? Go by sound. I load my popper, put the top on, put it into the microwave and set it to 4 minutes, which is ALWAYS more time than I need. Then I just listen. Once the rate of popping slows to about 1 or less ever 4 seconds, I open the microwave. Wait a few seconds for the final pops, and extract the popper by its white handles--which will be cool to the touch. The yellow popping container may be too hot at first. Then I dump the popped corn into a bowl, and add whatever fixin's I'm using. Typical popping time is around 3 minutes, sometimes a little less. Don't go by time. Go by sound. I have never had any burned kernals, and almost all of them are popped. No greasy oil! ... show more

  • Cook with care and attention
Style: Popper Only
1. Easy to pop popcorn, especially the prepackaged cups (as in this listing). 2. This silicone bowl is the perfect vessel; I purchased a silicone bowl with a soft lid, which was ineffective and the lid managed to get misplaced. 3. Non-gmo kernels, no chemical additives. So it’s convenience and portion control in one package. BUT this iteration is expensive; it’s my personal indulgence. I have trouble making popcorn the traditional way (lost the knack). Also, some people note that the bowl is hard to clean - if the flavored popcorn isn’t removed right away and the bowl washed immediately, the oils and seasoning can cool and form a crust that’s hard to remove. Plus, as noted in other reviews, the bowl will develop permanent scorch marks if the popcorn overcooks and burns. ... show more

  • Expensive for amount of popcorn
Style: Starter Kit (4 Pop Cups)
The popcorn pods leaked into the box. Taste pretty good. Easy to use, but based on high cost, not a good value. I checked on refill cost and wow, was it prohibitively expensive! The convenience not worth it.

  • Greta bowl
Style: Popper Only
I don’t get all the people complaining about not all the kernels being popped. I don’t know what popcorn they use but I have NEVER had all the kernels pop no matter what method of popping I use. Some of them are just duds. This is a great bowl and gets rid of those of the problems other silicon bowls have like being too hot to touch/collapsing when warm. Because of the handles on the side it stays sturdy and does the job. Plus it’s nice to be able to empty it into a separate bowl for eating and dump out all the unpopped kernels so I don’t have to worry about them while I’m eating. ... show more

  • Is it really as good as they claim?
Style: Starter Kit (12 Pop Cups)
I was excited with my first pop. I only had 5 unpopped kernals. The flavor was buttery but not as buttery as some other microwave bag popcorn I've tried. The second pop was the sweet and spicy. I was disappointed because there were over 30 unpopped kernals. The pineapple flavor was a bit strong for my taste and it was spicier than expected. I believed the hype of the ads that claimed it to be extraordinary (my word, not theirs but that was the gist). I'll use all the popcorn that came with the package I purchased but, for the price of the product I'll most likely experiment making my own using the Opoppop silicone microwave popper. ... show more

  • Marketing hype
Style: Starter Kit (12 Pop Cups)
I tried to buy these (not on Amazon) and they offered a discount for a first time buy, but they would show you the price until they had your payment info, so I passed. They did not respond to my inquiries to this fact. I bought a sample pack on Amazon. The popcorn is “okay” and highly overpriced for what you get. I added butter spray and seasoning to the “Super Butter” which was fairly tasteless. ... show more
