Bottom line: A thick, comfortable kitchen mat that should fit most décors. Pros: • Thick cushioning • Neutral color • Large Cons: • Dirt can accumulate underneath • A little plasticky • A little more expensive than competitors The mat is a very welcome addition to just about any kitchen due to its cushioning and aesthetic. It has a neutal color, meaning it should fit in most decors. It does have a design, which may clash, due to other perhaps competing designs in a particular décor. Thus, a solid color may be preferred. The cushioning is very thick, to its credit. It makes meal preparation and kitchen cleaning much easier due to less stress on the body, particularly feet and spine. The increased height due to the cushioning takes a little to get used to, but it’s generally pleasant. Moreover, the cushioning seems durable. While it won’t be as durable as an actual rubber mat, it’s a softer material reminiscent of memory foam. That said, it’s probably not durable enough for an industrial or commercial environment, like a restaurant, where a rubberized, firmer material may last longer. The mat is meant for periodic home use, where it seems suitable for the task. It appears to be impermeable, meaning water or liquid won’t accumulate into it like a sponge, to it’s credit. Thus, it shouldn’t get moldy even though it might get dirty. Of note, it’s possible for dirt to accumulate underneath. Relatedly, the underside has a somewhat “sticky” surface (to its credit; for it to stay in place), such that it may attract dirt. Consequently, the underside should be examined periodically for cleaning, lest an object get “stuck,” perhaps scratching, gouging, or damaging the floor. At USD $34.99, it’s a little more expensive than competitors. However, it seems well made and durable, which may tend to make it worth the price. Thus, the mat is recommended. These floor cushion mats come in a set of two (note the sizes in their description). One is perfect for in front of my counter, the other smaller one fits perfectly in front of my sink. They are very well padded, more so than more expensive, name-brand mats that I've used. The only 'con' I've seen so far (I've only had them a few weeks) is that the corner edge tends to lift up slightly from the floor. It hasn't curled up, it just isn't quite sitting flush on the floor, so it could be a trip hazard if you're not paying attention. So far it hasn't been an issue because it is very slight, but time will tell if that worsens. If it does, I will use them in my dogs crate or under their beds. The padding is quite substantial. They are so thick that they sit slightly higher than my other mats, maybe by 1/4", so it took getting used to that height difference when stepping onto them. If you need a well-padded mat, these fit the bill. For the price, and with Amazon's return policy, they're worth trying if you have foot, leg or back issues when standing for extended periods of time. They stay put on the floor and don't seem to slide around easily in normal use. Also, they came in a large, flat box; they weren't rolled up, they're shipped flat and ready to use - and they didn't have any noticeable chemical odor like you often find with these sorts of products. ... show more
