As an entry-level tea snob, I am very happy with this tea. I've been to Taiwan (I've even stayed overnight at an Alishan tea farm!) and know someone who runs their own company importing boutique oolongs from Taiwan, so I have some baseline knowledge in the area. This compares very favorably to a loose-leaf red oolong from that other importer I tried this alongside. The Ootine is a bit mellower with less of a heavily roasted feel (which makes sense given the "mellow amber" pitch here) but a nice step up from an unroasted tea. As with most Taiwanese Oolongs, it's classically used for multiple steepings; subsequent steepings are less intense but still enjoyable. I cut open one of the bags and the tea leaves inside; they seem to be good quality and open up nicely into whole leaves on steeping. The packaging is also first-rate and feels nicely high-end - some (even high quality) Taiwanese teas come in frankly hideous packaging, so that's kind of nice to see here.

This OOTINE, Mellow Amber Taiwan Oolong Tea Bags (12 Count) is a very tasty oolong. The leaves are well formed and not broken at all. They bloom nicely during steeping, leaving you a lovely golden cup of tea with subtle floral notes. The tea bags are both a plus and a negative. They make it convenient to not have to measure out your how much of the tea you're using for your cup but that is assuming you have a standard sized cup. If your cups are larger or smaller, you will have to adjust accordingly. The pyramid shape gives room for the leaves to expand, but at the end it is stretched pretty full so the leaves were a bit restricted at the end. The tea bags also advertise themselves as plastic-free, which given their silky appearance means they probably are the corn-based plastic which, while technically commercially compostable compared to normal plastic, aren't really functionally compostable. Add that with the coating on the tag (probably also corn-based plastic), and the idea of it being compostable pretty much goes out the window. Still better than a normal plastic pyramid bag, but if being compostable is the big draw for you, stick with loose leaf or other tea bag materials. I was surprised at a 5 min first steeping for multiple infusions. Most oolongs have a shorter steep time to allow for more flavor development though multiple infusions. You do get a nice cup of tea initially at that steeping, but the ones after are significantly less flavorful. I've switched to a shorter steeping time of 2-3 min (still long for most oolongs) to allow for tastier multiple cups of tea. I do really like the instructions for a cold infusion. I haven't tried that method yet, but I like knowing how to do it.

This set of 30 bags containing (3) flavors is a nice addition to any tea snob looking to try some quality and good tasting teas. The flavors included are Golden Lily (floral/light), Honey Charcoal (earthy/rich), and Mellow Amber (fruity/clean). I really can't say which flavor I prefer as each is unique and also great tasting and the reason why this sampler pack is so good. Typically, I prefer to drink these teas after lunch in the afternoon just by using an electric kettle and subsequently seeping the tea in a mug for about (2) minutes. Sometimes I'll decide to seep the same bag a 2nd time and while the flavor is not as intense, it still makes a great second brew with a milder flavor profile that's still good tasting.

If your tea preferences lean towards good black teas versus more herbal teas, the Ootine tea will not disappoint. I’m Asian and used to strong black tea steeped forever in a large pot. This is definitely a more refined tea experience. The tea has a nice roasted flavor and isn’t bitter or harsh. The floral and fruit hints are subtle and don’t overwhelm the oolong flavor. The tea sachets offer a good brisk first cup and a milder second. This is a very good daily tea in a convenient and attractive sachet.

This osmanthus oolong tea lives up to its "mellow amber" description perfectly. While oolong tea typically boasts a more robust roasted flavor, this version is softer, with delightful floral notes from the osmanthus. I've experimented with both hot and cold brewing methods and found I prefer it cold. For a stronger oolong flavor, hot brewing is the way to go. The tea is well-packaged, and I love that the tea bags are compostable.

I love loose leaf teas. This oolong tasted pleasant and the taste came through beautifully through quite a few steeps. I don't use full boiling for oolong, and I have a temp control kettle. Definitely follow the brewing instructions for the best flavor. I went through 5 steeps with this, and the tea was lovely. No bitterness, very smooth and gave the hints of fruit, honey, nuts of some oolong varieties. This isn't my favorite, but it's very pleasant. There are so many teas, tisanes, and varieties out there and this is one that's worth trying. The bags weren't plastic-y but I sometimes prefer to open them and use a mesh strainer if I'm going to steep multiple times. Other times, the convenience of the bags is great! This even came with a sample of their Golden Lily which I also found mellow and flavorful. I'm happy to have discovered another brand to add to my tea rotation!

These tea bags make a great cup of oolong tea. Each sachet of tea comes wrapped in an individual foil packet ensuring each cup is at its freshest. The tea leaves don't show any of the dust, crumbs or oxidation found with lesser teas. This tea is from a Taiwanese women-owned business. The tea is best by February 2027.

I got the OOTINE, Mellow Amber Taiwan Oolong Tea Bags in the Golden Lily version. You get 12 bags in an air tight bag to keep the tea fresh. I brewed like I would for green tea and immediately smelled pleasant floral and sweet notes. The flavor is very enjoyable.
