  • Good, but…
Color: Red
Seems like a decent quality kit, but the O-rings on the spark plug end are horrible and don’t seal to my mower at all. I have no idea if it works or not!

  • Incorrect Gauge (replaced by company though) - Will have you thinking about a rebuild...
Color: Red
EDIT: though I was well past the return date because I wasn’t at the point of my tune up to test my compression, as other reviewers said, the customer service was fantastic, and they sent me a replacement gauge. So, you can purchase knowing that if there’s an issue, you will be taken care of by this seller. Thank you! Original review: Pressure not accurate. Did test twice on separate days (because I was so disappointed in my results initially). Yes, my engine was warmed up, yes I had the throttle fully open, and yes the choke was open (not choked). My results were CONSISTENT, but not accurate. Gauge measured 90, 65, 85, 90. Then I did the tsp of oil test down the spark plug wells, and I got 95, 90, 90, 95. Yes, I know no. 2 is a little off, and it would be a concern at this level. I took my bike to my mechanic to weld a hoop on, as I don't have a welder, gave him my numbers and asked him to check for me. I went in today, and he said my compression was fine: 150, 125, 150, 150 and that while no. 2 is a little concerning, its within the range that I'll be O.K. at least for now. Of course, I'm past the return time, so I'm stuck with an inaccurate compression tester. ... show more

  • Adaptable to multiple spark plug sizes with 0-300 psig range.
Color: Red
Used this compression tester on a used dirt bike to see how much life is left in the engine. The adapters fit a 250cc Suzuki bike engine and also fit my B&S lawn mower engine. All in all, it's versatile for what I've needed so far, although I have not used it on an automobile engine yet. On the bright side, this is a very usable compression tester for the price. the two adapter thread sizes that I have used so far fit well when threaded into the engine spark plug hole and oring sealed off. Like most compression testers, these adapters use prongs to seal, which is nice because you can thread in by hand and still get a good seal. This gauge holds pressure until you hit the release button, so to measure compression, you crank the engine over (or kick engine over with a kick start bike), until pressure does not increase any more. On the down side, it is not as precise as some gauges. As you can see from the pic, this gauge reads in increments of 25 psig, while other higher dollar gauges I have used read in increments of 10 psig. Nonetheless, for what I will be using it for, it's precise enough. Scale reads 0-300 psig, so for evaluating small dirt bike engines (typically 100-200psig spec compression), the scale is good. ... show more
