The water socks are a must when wearing flippers. They do not impede walking or the traction of the flippers on the foot. These socks made such a difference in stability. My foot did not slip or move around in the flippers at all. They are true to size and versatile.

I walk on the beach for an hour every day. These neoprene socks were purchased to suppress wear on the soles of my feet, and to reduce friction between my bare toes. They fulfilled both of these needs without issue. After approximately 50 hours of use, both left and right developed through holes directly under the balls of my feet (just behind my toes). Sand and water freely pass through these holes as I walk on the beach through the incoming and receding waves, so to me these socks are done. At roughly $20 for a pair, I got 50 hours of use. That works out to 40 cents per hour. I'll let you decide for yourself if that is a bargain for you. It is for me. If you are looking for more durable beach footwear, you would want to go with a neoprene booty, rather than a neoprene sock. Booties have solid rubber soles, and are meant to provide grip to a surfboard, and survive walking out into the ocean through rocky terrain. Socks, on the other hand, are meant for providing a thin cushioning layer between your feet and the fins that you strap onto your feet for kicking into waves when body surfing or body boarding. I prefer the lighter socks over booties for walking on the beach, because I feel more in touch with the sand, but that is a personal preference, and you should decide for yourself. Going forward, I will try a few different options for socks, just to get a feel for the variability in them, but my expectation is that most socks will wear out after 50 hours of walking on wet sand. ... show more

Bought these for a couple of hikes in Zion National Park where I knew we'd be going through water. They worked great! They definitely took the sting out of the cold water that we were walking though, which is what we really wanted them for. They fit snugly enough and didn't move around on the feet. Used them for a 9 miler and a 6 miler.. all mostly through water. Also did a couple miles out of the water after because we didn't have dry stuff to change into until we got to the car.
