  • HORRIBLE Piece of Equipment...
Size: 6-inch
1. While this IS a large vise and a bargain at $50(+/-) it is POORLY casted and POORLY constructed. 2. The alignment of the jaws are off; the movable jaw is crooked in its casting; and, the welds look like a teenager did it. 3. The threaded rod was completely coated in casting sand? Metal dust? Not sure. But it was terrible. 4. The tension spring for the threaded rod is over-tight, making one-hand operation a near impossibility. 5. Lastly, and probably shame on Amazon, but the vise box, which had ZERO packaging to shore it up, was simply plopped into an oversized Amazon box with, ALSO, zero packaging! The entire lot looked like it went through a hurricane before arriving at my door. ... show more

  • Not so good for MY NEEDS but don’t let me discourage you
Size: 6-inch
Pretty much a piece of crap. Maybe my standards are too high in reviewing a $50 vise being that I’ve been an industrial mechanic most of my working life but the reviews overall were pretty favorable so I took a chance..and lost. The jaws/action are sloppy as **** and even for garage tasks, not even sure if I’ll bother permanently bolting this to my bench. I clamped down on one of my 15/16 wrenches as hard as I could and the jaws went cattywampus on the opposite side of what I was clamping down on, tapped it with the smallest hammer I own and it turned sideways. That being said, your average Harry Homeowner may find this sufficient for building birdhouses with his 10 year old or fixing bicycle parts or what-have-you, but for a tradesman with real (home) tasks at hand, I would not recommend. At the most, I might use this as a BACKUP vise on the back of a service truck in case I run into a circumstance where I have to hold cotton balls steady. ... show more

  • Exactly What I Wanted
Size: 4-inch
I have no bad comments for this product at all. For an inexpensive vise this works precisely as I'd hoped it would. I saw some comments asking about "how far does it open", well I've attached images for clarity.

  • Still recommended even with minor flaws.
Size: 4-inch
For what this product is, it is fine. I bought it at 21 dollars and it has a few minor issues. So here they are: The jaws don't line up straight It is not smooth and my screw doesn't seem to be completely straight, it has kind of a small circle instead of a stationary spin, some heavy grease helped with all the moving parts. All this being said id still recommend this product for the price. It's a big chunk of metal that holds s***, I've used it for its intended purpose and i bought it expecting it to be a budget item and break relatively soon. It hasn't yet. Plus i could of spent the 21 dollars on seeing a s***ty movie that i would of regret, I don't regret this. ... show more

  • The most home use vise for the price.
Size: 6-inch
You simply can't expect more vise for 35 dollars delivered. The metal is thinner than higher end products of the same size, but that shortcoming must be taken in context of the awesome price. It has two locking cleats, reasonable play in the jaws and a respectable opening width. There are pipe jaws and the unit has a nice finish. For a home shop with normal needs (like me), this vise should be more than adequate. Just don't try and do something like press in bearings, or put a pipe on the lever and it should be more than fine. If you need professional level equipment that will deal with heavy daily use or abuse, stick with a forged steel Yost. You'll pay for the privilege though. Once again, I've been shopping a while now and this is simply the most vise you will get for 35 bucks delivered. Probably more than you'll get for 50. ... show more

  • For the price, it is a good item...
Size: 4-inch
OK, let's be realistic. For what you are paying, this is a good item. It is not going to be as smooth as a $200 professional vice, and it may be a bit rough around the edges, so you have to realize there are trade offs. If you are looking for a basic vice for home projects: occasionally holding some wood, clamping metal, working on a rifle, etc.. this will work just fine for you. If you are pro that will be using this every day, maybe you want to invest a little more into it. Some things I have noticed about this vice as compared to ones I have worked with in the past are: -This vice sometimes is hard to manipulate, and should be greased out of the box. I have had expensive vices that I can spin the handle and it will conduct many rotations by itself. This is not that vice, It is gritty and frictiony (yeah I know, not a real word) so if you fling the handle around, it will probably conduct 1/2 a rotation and gum up. - This vice DOES have a small pipe clamp under the main jaws. Good feature for a budget vice. -This vice DOES have a yellow/goldish colored base. It is not gray like the picture. I could really care a less what color it is honestly, so no big deal. Overall, it will work well for me. I have already put it through some abuse and it has held up well. ... show more

  • aWESOME VISE FOR THE PRICE
Size: 4-inch
aWESOME VISE FOR THE PRICE. Could not have done better for what we paid. Its just the right size for small projects(the honey do list) he fixes bent metal like stuff and praises me for buying for him. Would Recommend to a friend? Yes Conclusion: Excellent choice! I received this product at FULL PRICE. NO discount has influenced or impacted my judgment of this product. I take this seriously and my opinion and experience is my own, which I share AFTER I have tried the product and given ample time to see results and side effects. I am in no way required by the seller to leave positive remarks about their product. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. ***Don’t rely on the Amazon star system alone, pay attention to WHY a person either liked or disliked a product.
