  • Nice shocks, great value. Sticky at first, but easily fixed.
Color: Black
I installed these shocks on my TRX4m along with aluminum high clearance links. At first these shocks would stick bad enough my crawler was basically useless for actual crawling. Turns out they were just assembled wrong, something that should not be unexpected when buying the cheap option for RC parts. If you take them apart, the bottom cap where the shaft slides through has 2 o-rings and a spacer. On all 4 of my shocks, the 2 o-rings were together on top of the spacer. The correct assembly is for the spacer to be sandwiched between the o-rings. These shocks work perfectly after doing that and adding some very light silicone shock oil (I used the Traxxas silicone oil that came with another Traxxas crawler I own). If you don't mind spending 10-15 minutes doing that, these shocks are a great buy! ... show more

  • Look great, perform poorly.
Color: Black Red
Unfortunately I too fell for the look of these shocks and got them. Luckily I also got a set of injora 59mm shocks with just about the same color scheme. These OGRC shocks look the part and could potentially be better, but honestly I didn’t even run them and found there to be problems. They stick at max in and out, the spring that comes with the shocks are way to stiff for crawling, they come “pre oiled” however I found that once I about broke my fingers trying to open them to oil them up, that there was barely any oil in them at all. The bodies are also a bit wider so if your running an aftermarket chassis’s make sure to run an extra spacer on the top shock mount or the shock body will rub against the chassis. Honestly they have a great platform but need some work. There is also no bleeder port for air to escape out after oiling them either. The hardware that comes with is terrible. Do yourself a favor spend the extra $5 and get the injora 59mm, yes you have to build the shocks, however they always give you stainless hardware and always give you way more hardware than you need, plus the quality and the performance are both amazing. ... show more

  • shocks stick
Color: Black Silver
Got the shocks, they look great but don't function as expected, they stick in full extended position or fully compressed, maybe this was a defective set as i changed out the oil for new and they still stick

  • Decent well machined, but assembled too tight
Color: Black Red
OGRC 60mm oil shocks for TRX4M I purchased these shocks for a TRX4M Bronco. I liked the color scheme of this set. (red w/black trim) It goes well with the red Bronco body I own. Overall these shocks are decent and are machined with reasonable quality. But there are some issues to overcome. I work in the aerospace industry as a Tool design engineer and CNC machinist/programmer so my review will be from a machinist/Craftsman perspective. 1st thing, this design of shocks stick a little the first time you actuate them. The shocks on my 1/10 scale off road truggy do the same thing. (Though not as noticeable on this type of rig) So do the OEM/stock shocks that come with the TRX4M. It's part of how they are designed. The two lower O rings sealing the piston rod fit snug around the rod to seal the oil reservoir. For a split second there is no oil between the O ring and the rod thus making the first movement feel sticky after they have been sitting still. Once they move, the seal and the rod get oiled and no longer feel sticky. The tighter the seal the more often and sticky they will feel. The problem with these (OGRC) shocks are, the assembler from the factory tightend EVERYTHING on these shocks WAY too tight when they were assembled. Including the lower cap that holds the two O ring rod seals thus squeezing the O rings too tight on the rod. The seals were also installed in an unusual order (O-ring, O-ring, spacer, cap) instead of O-ring, spacer, O-ring, cap. I also noticed the rod lower end / ball link was difficult to remove. Upon further inspection, super glue was used in place of blue lock-tight, and used generously. I ended up soaking just the ends ( not the whole shock) in acetone for about 5 minutes. This softened up the super glue enough to break free. I still needed a LOT of force to clamp the rod to keep from spinning while I unscrewed the ball end. Shock pliers was not enough force. I ended up using some 1/16 aluminum to make jaws that I used along with needle nose vise-grips to clamp the rod. This was successful with no burrs on the rod. After cleaning out all the super glue, the threads were in very good condition and much easier to thread. Now that everything is broke free, I can now tune these shocks to my liking. Parts are machined with decent quality. (Especially for $20 US a set) All in all these are decent shocks. If you are a tinker-er/Craftsman like me, the issues are fixable. (I spent about an hour and a half going through all that is listed.) For me, I like to modify things and make them my own. In fact I get just as much enjoyment building RC models as I do driving or flying. If you are more of the type that just wants it to work, Then these shocks may not be a good choice for you. ... show more
