  • Warped Bed/Low Memory Chips
Color: Ender 3 S1
EDIT 7/28/23: I'm editing my review as I've gotten a second printer. It's been about a week, so I figured I'd give an update. This one came in with a few QC issues; screws on the bed that hold the y-axis rail to the bottom of the printer weren't screwed in all the way/one screw won't sit flush. The wheels on the bed that sit on the y-axis rail were loose and allowed the bed to flop, the screws holding the extruder in place were loose. The screws holding in the heatblock were WAY loose. For what is a printer retailing at 400 dollars, this is seriously a problem. Granted, after fixing all of this, the printer is functioning MUCH better than my last one; i get decent first layers, and the bed leveling seems to work reliably, however, I still can't help but feel that you aren't getting the quality you'd expect for how much money you drop. If you can get it on sale like I did, for about 200-250, this is a okay purchase, just be warned that you're gonna have a lot of handiwork to do when it comes in and if you're a beginner, that's gonna amount to probably a week or so of fiddling around, trying to figure out if your bad print is either a skill issue or a device issue. I will give props to Creality as they did reach out via Amazon (I never heard back from anyone from their main website contact page, so customer service could still use some work) and once they heard I was having issues with the bed, offered to replace it at cost. Unfortunately, by the time they had reached out, I had already packaged up my device and was getting ready to send it back and did not want to risk the refund period expiring. Overall, I've raised my score from 2 stars to 4. Original Review: I bought this Ender 3 S1 on the 3rd of July, and I have been having nothing but issues trying to get this damn thing level. I watched countless videos, tried to get assistance online (lol, good luck), and even contacted support from Creality (still haven't heard back from them). It's almost like the bed is concaved in the middle, and the ABL system it comes with does not do enough to compensate (I'm not even sure it works if we're being honest). I've been unable to get a proper first layer during this entire two weeks. I even attempted to use a community firmware (mirscoc's professional firmware) as a troubleshooting method as it allows for UBL and mesh editing, still ran into issues with my nozzle not touching the bed in the middle. At this point, i'm convinced the bed came warped far more than it normally would and is not capable of producing a proper first layer. ... show more

  • Great machine!
Color: Ender 3 S1
Nice machine to get started with! The filament out sensor is a great plus! Make sure you check and adjust the trolly pully's and everything else it tells you to! Watch some YouTube videos! If you spend a meticulous amount of time and patience to get the bed good and level, it will pay off exponentially! If you are a first timer like me, watch some videos!! Follow the instructions! There is a voltage switch in the back that needs to be changed if you live in the USA! Verry happy with this printer! ... show more

  • Finally, a real solid Ender 3 entry!
Color: Ender 3 S1 Pro
This printer has everything that you would hope for from a legit machine. It's by no means affordable at its price point, but it usually competes with $1,000 machines and is the natural resting stop of the fully fleshed out Ender 3 series with all (or almost all) the bugs fixed. Pros: - super easy set up, (despite the small print crap manual) about 5X easier than regular ender 3. Takes only about 15 minutes to get going - the Sprite Extruder that it comes with is tops, everyone's been raving about this and for good reason. All metal hot end, super super easy to change filament, quiet, precise, etc. - all the upgrades that the Ender 3 really needs: dual z rods, PEI bed, enclosed plastic casing, drawer, filament sensor, good spool holder. - tons of community support - reliable dimensionally accurate printing with minor tweaking (read, expand setting for inner holes in Cura), especially easy to print TPU! - no hassle prints and super easy removal most cases. "Set it and forget it" Cons: - ringing on the z axis still there (what gives, ender 3?) - Resistive touchscreen kinda sucks, you have to press hard and it's clearly cheap - original firmware is janky. You can reflash with upgrades, but this one has less features than the original Ender 3 (?!) You cant control things like extrusion / flow during a print anymore. You have to press an annoying checkmark every time your print is done (why??) and there's no "print again" option which would've been rather obvious. Also the UI doesn't scroll your file name text, (STILL) so you better keep real short filenames if you want to see what you're actually going to print. - Has issues fitting in the original Creality enclosure. I had to go ahead and print a separate touchscreen holder and purchase a male to female extension cable (JST-XH) to use this with the enclosure. These could have been included. - NOT calibrated out of the box. The Y axis wobble was really bad out of the box, yes you can calibrate it with the included wrench but c'mon guys, you could do this at the factory. It's a pre-assembled part. -Shipped in the factory box even though I deliberately asked in the Amazon listing not to do this. So my original box is pretty beat up now which hurts the resale value :/ - noisy ass board fan ALWAYS on because Creality didnt wanna spring for PWM controlled fans that shut off after your print is done. (Still much quieter than regular Ender 3 though) - no sleep modes, the touchscreen stays on all night as does the fan, for many hours after your print is finished. In fact, my touch screen even has some burn-in from this >:( All in all, I'm happy with the purchase and it's a definite step up. The cons could've been avoided by a company that just cares a little more though. ... show more

  • Awesome printer with a few annoying quirks
Color: Ender 3 S1
When it works its great. Its very precise and tight, no wobbles, features are great, especially auto leveling, interface is simple, in a word, in every aspect big improvement over my original Ender 3. Now problems and solutions: 1. Fan shroud hitting print - I had to loosen couple of screws and reposition it and bend it up 2. BL Touch dragging over print. Disassembling and reassembling extruder paying attention to things being level and square helped, replacing nozzle with taller old Ender 3 spare did it for good. 3. Sudden power downs mid print. Well, power supply was shipped set to 220V. Nobody told me to flip a switch to 110... Amazing it worked at all. First 2 were pretty obvious but power losses had me at loss for a moment, and I was really close to start return process. I wonder how many units were returned as defective. ... show more
