I ordered this on my wife's Amazon account. Delighted that I did.......I received this chair two days ago. I assembled it (very easy) and used it at a 3-hour gig last night. It was very comfortable. Today I've used it for over two hours while working on some new songs with my guitar. Again, very comfortable. I've been looking for a comfortable and sturdy chair for my solo guitar gigs for several weeks. I'm really glad I found this one on Amazon. Don''t listen to all the whining and complaining on here. This chair is very portable. Fold's up and fits easily in the trunk of my car. You can remove the seat and back if you need to. They're easy and fairly quick to put back on if you want to remove them. You might not even need the back. Depends on the individual. Also, you DO NOT need any tools to remove parts or put them back on. I removed the back (which BTW I find very comfortable) so that's it's not bulky to carry into the coffeehouses and bars I play. Took me about a minute to re-attach the back once I got inside. Even when fully assembled, it's pretty easy to carry. Again, even easier in tight places if you remove the back..............Also, this chair and it's competitors all receive similar praises and complaints. All I can address is the Odyssey DJ Chair. I'm very glad I bought it. I'm 6-1 and about 205lbs. The chair is very comfortable for me. I can adjust it to full bar stool height, chair height, and also in-between. The foot rest works great for me also. It's definitely a very well-built and sturdy chair. No matter what height I adjust it to, I feel secure sitting on it. No wobble and very solidly on the ground.........In regards to Amazon, service was again superb. I figured I'd keep the cost down by just going the free "normal ground shipping," which for this item suggested 12-14 days. Bought this as a stool for an upright bass player. The footrest is a bit high (not so high that it won't work, but if I had to pick a place to weld it on myself, it would be about 3 inches lower). Currently being used with the back rest off (since it's in and out of the car so often). It's a solid, heavy stool (which is good when you want to be sitting on it and not falling off and is not so good when you are lugging it around). All in all, I'd rather have it be heavy and sturdy-so I see that as a good thing. Nice padded seat-lots of cushion. It's easy enough to assemble (which is a good thing since it came with NO directions at all). The screws/knobs hold everything in place, but it does have a little tendency for the screws/knobs to back themselves out and need re-tightening from time to time. It may not do that if you don't transport it as often as we do. All in all, happy with the purchase. I just think it's a little pricey for what it is. Especially since it did come with scuffs already on the black powder base (must have happened in shipping since it was all loose in the box-no styrofoam). ... show more

Great product. I read all the string bass player reviews and I was looking for just this. I am 6'4" and using a bar stool before. Funny, it came with no instructions or pictures! but not hard to figure out. Very stable. Works great with my 7/8 bass and I can actually lean back on the rest. There was another review saying it should be closer, and I agree, but...it still works. Folds flat goes right in my SUV, easy. Everything fit together fine, no damage. Came quick too! Easy to assemble. Several settings for correct height. Well built but, Not too heavy. It helped me with my back ache. The seat needs a bit more padding as sitting for an hour or more gets less comfortable.

Just arrived home after getting a 30-mins deep tissue message for lower back and leg pain caused from extended use of this poorly designed product. The seat cushion is way too small for an average adult ass and reduces blood circulation to the legs. The foot rest is not adjustable and is thus functionally useless for tall people (I am 6'2"). It's like sitting too long on a cheap diner stool.This product might be useful for limited stage performances, but definitely not recommended for hours of practice or composition work on a guitar. Might be useful for upright bass players. I've decided to donate mine to some young guitar student and pray I do not cause him any harm. ... show more
