  • Double Bass Stool
I am about 5’11 and use this to practice double bass. It is very comfortable and secure. I wish the foot holder was adjustable but it didn’t take too long to find a comfortable position to play in. A little pricey but it’s build like a tank.

  • Excellent for the gigging musician and practicing at home.
I ordered this on my wife's Amazon account. Delighted that I did.......I received this chair two days ago. I assembled it (very easy) and used it at a 3-hour gig last night. It was very comfortable. Today I've used it for over two hours while working on some new songs with my guitar. Again, very comfortable. I've been looking for a comfortable and sturdy chair for my solo guitar gigs for several weeks. I'm really glad I found this one on Amazon. Don''t listen to all the whining and complaining on here. This chair is very portable. Fold's up and fits easily in the trunk of my car. You can remove the seat and back if you need to. They're easy and fairly quick to put back on if you want to remove them. You might not even need the back. Depends on the individual. Also, you DO NOT need any tools to remove parts or put them back on. I removed the back (which BTW I find very comfortable) so that's it's not bulky to carry into the coffeehouses and bars I play. Took me about a minute to re-attach the back once I got inside. Even when fully assembled, it's pretty easy to carry. Again, even easier in tight places if you remove the back..............Also, this chair and it's competitors all receive similar praises and complaints. All I can address is the Odyssey DJ Chair. I'm very glad I bought it. I'm 6-1 and about 205lbs. The chair is very comfortable for me. I can adjust it to full bar stool height, chair height, and also in-between. The foot rest works great for me also. It's definitely a very well-built and sturdy chair. No matter what height I adjust it to, I feel secure sitting on it. No wobble and very solidly on the ground.........In regards to Amazon, service was again superb. I figured I'd keep the cost down by just going the free "normal ground shipping," which for this item suggested 12-14 days. I received it in five days. .......And I would definitely recommend this chair to others. ... show more

  • High Recommendation from one Classical Bassist to other Classical Bassists
I'm a classical bassist and after reading some great informative reviews on this from other bassists, I decided I would purchase. In the past I used to use a wooden bar stool with padded seat I cut down to fit my seating height for playing while sitting in very long rehearsals, concerts, etc. I carried that darn stool everywhere with my bass so this seating needed to not only be height adjustable but also portable. PROS: Adjustable height seating: essential since I am only 5'5" but this also works for someone over 6' Padded seat: helps ease the bum during long playing sessions Back rest: comes in handy during those long rests Foot rests: always need a foot up so your knee can support the bass and give stability as you're playing to free up your left hand FOLDABLE = PORTABLE. You can completely remove the back rest to make it a smaller profile either while playing or for portability. It also is a nice sturdy weight without being heavy- well built. It also looks very professional and keeps a low profile where other stools specifically designed for bass players take up more floor space, are heavier and MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE. CONS: Back Rest: is a bit too far back to really put to good use. You have to lean far back. One more drilled hole to bring the back closer would have been perfect Padded seat: While a well padded seat is essential to ease the pain on the bum in long practices, rehearsals, the seat is made of vinyl/leather which is not breathable therefore ensuring a sweaty bum! I will be getting an additional padded CLOTH covering to help. I gave this a 4-star for those cons from my experience. See images (ignore the stuff in the back. the bass is a crappy rental while I'm waiting for my newly purchased bass to arrive). Also the one I got had a bit of a nick in the leg from packaging although the packaging was well done. I hope this helps!! ... show more

  • Great chair but needs to swivel and to address the sharp edge in the foot area.
The bottom piece scratches my leg if I don’t have on pants. I’m a female DJ. This is a true challenge for me to keep from scratching my legs. Other than that, I love this chair. Note that this chair does not swivel.

  • Great Option for Stick Players!
I play Chapman Stick; those familiar know it's not a lap supported instrument. In my younger days I had no problem with standing through performance and practices... that was about 50 pounds ago, and my feet and lower legs aren't really up to that now. I was using a piano stool for awhile, and barstools worked okay for performing. What you really need with this particular instrument is something that lets you stand with support. This DJ chair provides that kind of support, where you can at least look like you're standing; you can stretch the one leg so it doesn't get in the way of the bottom of the Stick, and used the raised bar as a footrest for the other leg for added stability. The seat can be lowered if necessary for better access to foot switches. Assembly is easy, despite the lack of instructions (how hard can it be putting 4 pieces together?), it doesn't take up a lot of space, and can be folded up and stowed if it does get in the way. Really glad I found this, because I thought I'd have to build my own body stand for performing, or else play all slumped over on a piano stool or barstool (not very stage-attractive). ... show more

  • Safe assembly important
The first chair I ordered arrived damaged. It was very easy to return with Amazon for a replacement. The replacement chair arrived, it to was damaged but not as bad as the first one. It’s like buying used equipment. The chair seems sturdy enough. it’s got a small foot print for the stage and I’m excited to try it. UTube Videos helped with assembly. I’m not going to use the back so I used a 3/8 inch nut and put the bolt in place to ensure that the chair pad wouldn’t slip off the post. I had to tighten the bolt that holds the support arm for the back of the chair because every time I picked up the chair the whole thing collapsed. Tightening the bolts helped a lot. ... show more
