I live on a ranch in the mountains of Northern California. In the past I have managed to get through the snow when it was only a couple of feet deep to feed my livestock. As of 3 days ago I had 4 feet on the level with 6-8 foot drifts. I have been swimming through the snow the 1/4 mile to my barn twice a day to feed the livestock. Yesterday UPS finally delivered these snow shoes. What a difference. I had to hike/swim the over a mile to the highway to get the package. Once I extracted these snow shoes and figured out how to put them on I headed back up the mountain. It was far easier even going up a really steep driveway than going down in arctic pac boots. Instead of sinking above my knees with every step I only went in a couple of inches. It took a while to figure out the bindings but once you have that sorted, the snow shoes are easy to take off and on. The only negative I have is that the heel strap is very stiff and stays bent so that you have to straighten it out befroe you can wrap it around the back of your boots. ... show more

We went snow shoeing this last weekend, with a significant amount of snow. My shoes worked well and seem to be very well built. Worth the money I paid since I only go a couple times a year. I would highly recommend these snow shoes to anyone looking. I ordered a 25 and they were perfect as I am 5'7 and 151 lbs. Easy on and easy off, tightening was very easy as well with no slippage at all. ... show more

    • These are slightly better than average for inexpensive snowshoes. No instructions at all.

Note: the description claims that these are "Design [sic] for Skiing". Obviously they are not. They are designed for snowshoeing. There is no skiing going on with these snowshoes whatsoever. Unless you want to carry your snowshoes while you ski. As for the snowshoes themselves, I've tried a few pairs of these introductory snowshoes and these are ever so slightly better than all the others. I liked that the heel strap is nylon strapping, rather than the rigid plastic, making it a bit more comfortable and much less likely to break (as rigid plastic tends to do when cold). The two front straps are that rigid sort of plastic, and they have the ratcheting mechanism to tighten them. Time will tell if the plastic actually holds up, instead of snapping like on my first pair of snowshoes. I did struggle with the ratcheting mechanism when getting out of the snowshoes, even though I generally understood how they were meant to work. Some instructions are important to include with products like this. Either I'm missing some small detail of pulling the lever, or they aren't well designed. Only good instructions would clear that up. The decking is a nice middle ground between flexible and strong, as it allows for more comfortable walking while still supporting a person. The poles are a useful addition. They aren't super strong (aluminum), but for casual use they are fine. Oh, and the twist direction for changing the length of the poles is, perhaps, backwards. So if it doesn't seem to be loosening, try the other direction. And the different attachments for the bottom are separate, and you need to remove the rubber bottom that it comes with before putting on the wider ski-pole type ones. With no instructions, I had to figure all this out by experimentation. Note that these are indeed casual snowshoes, bulky and wide, and not necessarily made to last a long time (again, that rigid plastic + cold is a recipe for breakage), and not super comfortable, but these seem like a good enough product for shorter adventures. ... show more

    • Nice snowshoes, but the poles kept collapsing on me…
I have two sets of snowshoes from this company and the heel strap is different on this one and so it was easier to tighten them enough to fit a smaller woman’s foot (6.5) than the other pair. I love these snowshoes. They work well. The poles are a different style from my other pair. These snap closed around the pole, but will still slide a little, or unsnap if they get caught on something. That was a little frustrating. Ordered the WHITE/Light BLUE set in smallest available size (support weight, as she's nearly 100lbs). I'm STOKED to have these, so we needn't borrow from friends anymore. SUGGESTION to seller: it is known to keep the wonderful included poles separate from the metal claws of the shoes (since they shipped separated, also)...it'd be rather easy to design the carry bag with an inner pocket, or at least straps outside the bag for carrying the poles. SO MANY tool bags are designed as such, and it's a minor thing that goes a long way in protecting the gear, AND making the user grateful for the thoughtful, easy, touch! ;) I'd probably have given these 5 stars, since it was THAT close already! Another helpful thing to get 5 solid stars is competitive pricing. When there are many options at the same price point, it's hard to pull in over 4 stars. ;) Substantial build, nice look, competitive price...I'd recommend for others; I watched for a great sale price to find some for our kids, in different colors--these fit the bill so nicely. :) If this review helped ya, kindly give me a thumbs up so I know if they're worthwhile.
