  • Awesome wireless joycon charger Awesome wireless joycon charger
I hate having wires running across my room and in the way so I searched high and low for a joycon controller that could also wirelessly charge them if needed and this Nyko controller was exactly what I was looking for. It feels just like the original grip that came with my switch but this one will charge the joycons with the press of the button. I have my switch connected to my TV but this controller has a phone dock built in as well as usb/micro usb ports so you can connect your phone to the controller and charge your phone. It’s so cool and was such a great price. I use it everyday now and as soon as my joycons die I don’t have to worry about needed to quit my game or running a charging cable across my room for my dog to yank out and pull everything to the ground (I speak from experience unfortunately). I love it, love it, love it. It’s very strong, durable and well made. I’ve accidentally dropped it on the hardwood floor a couple times and so far it hasn’t broken. It doesn’t impact my ability to play at all and has no affect on the function of the joycons. It’s actually better than the original imo quality wise ... show more

  • Unique features, works as a small power bank for your switch/phone.
This makes for a great replacement for the nintendo version which offers less and costs more. Here are some helpful notes: Battery: The battery takes less than 3 hours to full charge. The joy-cons already have a fairly longer run time themselves, so adding this makes the need to charge them often non-existent. I had been playing Zelda for a week and had yet to need recharging (that's 5-6 hrs/day for 7 days). The battery in the grip died at about 20 hours, and the joy-cons themselves lasted about 20 hours, So I got about 40 hours of play time from full charge on all to the switch telling me the joy-cons are dead. That was pretty fantastic performance to me. Storage: 7 games, 2 micro sd cards. Makes it really easy to switch your games and adds storage when you've filled up your carry case. Phone grip: The phone clip is on the back and pops off easily, then snaps into the front. I've got a Note 8 in a slim bumper case (the RhinoShield Crashguard). It held this without issue, and I didn't feel like the phone was too heavy for the clip (the clip felt sturdy enough that I didn't think it would break under the weight.) Yes, I tried the actual switch screen and it does fit, but this DID feel unstable and I felt it would eventually wear down/break under the weight. Hand feel: It's thicker, so it feels more like a pro controller than the included unpowered grip. AWESOME bonus: the USB port in the front of the grip. This means you can charge your phone while you play. However, it also means that, should you be out and about and you just need to juice your phone a bit, this also works as a power bank for it! Cons: Fit: I didn't have the issue with the joy-cons slipping out like others stated. Mine lock in great. In fact, I have the opposite issue. The right side of my particular grip seems a bit too tight when sliding it in, and I feel like I'm slightly forcing it down. I need to express that the force is an incredibly slight, barely there force, but it is slightly more than when I'm sliding it into the left side and also into the included unpowered grip. TLDR: thicker hand feel like a pro controller, 40 hrs playtime from full charge on both grip and joy-cons, game & sd card storage, phone grip holds a Note 8 perfectly (fits switch console unsteadily, don't recommend), can use as a small power bank in emergencies via USB port, my right rail was ever so slightly tight. That's it! All in all, great product for the money, I recommend it. Hope this was helpful! ... show more

  • First accessory any Switch owner should buy
Absolutely fantastic controller. It does everything and more. Why Nintendo think they can charge $30 for a pass-through USB port is beyond me, but in a rare display of third party superiority, Nyko swoops in and out-qualities Nintendo. The controller feels like a Pro controller with the joycons. You can charge the Switch (or any other device for that matter) while playing along with the joycons. The 3000 mAh battery is plentiful and charges devices rather quickly, I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 amps, standard for non-quick charge phone chargers. The clip on grip is VERY good, though the Switch barely fits in the grip so I wouldn't recommend docking your Switch there. Works fine for any phone and is great if you're using emulators with the joycons paired (pretty much the only use for it as Nintendo's app doesn't even work in landscape). The only complaint that can be made is that the rails are plastic, but in my use this hasn't detracted from the quality of the controller in any way, simply a way for Nyko to cut down the bottom line price. There's also the game card slots and micro SD slots, which Nyko seems to have a fetish for in all their switch accessories. All in all, I'll probably never touch my standard Nintendo grip again. ... show more

  • Great until it isn't
Cool design with storage for games, a clip for a phone, and a small built in battery pack. The battery is only good for charging your phone; it doesn't charge the controllers. The size is more comfortable than the standard Switch grip. However... After a few months of use, it no longer keeps the Switch controllers "clicked" in place. Pushing up on the joysticks causes the controllers to slide up along the rails. I believe this is due to the all plastic construction, compared to the metal rails on the standard Nintendo grip (which still works fine). The frustration caused by constantly having to slide the controllers back into place, especially in more competitive games, makes this completely unsuitable for use. ... show more

  • Best Switch accessory Best Switch accessory
This thing is absolutely stellar. I listen to Podcasts while playing games, so having this mixed with the front-facing speakers on my phone makes my multi-tasking experience the best it's ever been. It even has a port to keep my phone charged, and doesn't need to be plugged in to keep my Joycons charged, unlike the twice as expensive and less comfortable charging grip. It even stretches perfectly long enough to hold the Switch itself. It's kind of pointless when you can easily hold the Switch in handheld mode, but the grip itself is so comfortable that it's still a nice gaming experience. The grip is so comfortable that I can't go back to the one that came with the system. It makes my Joycons feel like a pro controller. Oh yeah, and it holds seven games and two Micro SD cards. This has become my favorite Switch accessory, maybe second only to my carrying case, or maybe I like it even more than that. Can't recommend it enough. Good work Nyko. ... show more

  • Great concept, decent execution
The good: It holds and charges both Joy-Cons It charges the Joy-Cons without needing to be plugged into the wall at the same time It holds several game cards (and microSD cards, if for some reason you have extras) The neutral: It's larger than the Joy-Con grip included with the Switch. Conveniently, though, it's almost exactly the size of the Pro Controller while the Joy-Cons are attached, so it will fit into cases designed for that. The bad: The Joy-Cons fit in with a lot of friction, and the locking mechanism that they're supposed to use doesn't work correctly. It isn't much harder to pull them out without pushing the release buttons than it is while pushing them. They won't fall out, but they're harder to get in than they need to be. The phone clip feels like it's breaking every time you detach it from the controller. There's no way to release the spring-loaded tab that holds it into place, so you have to yank it off and force the tab down that way. The cover over the games and SD cards only slides down as far as the product picture shows. After that, it has to be lifted off, which makes it a bit less natural than it could be. Overall, given the fairly low price ($17 as of writing, just over half that of Nintendo's charging grip, which doesn't even have a battery), I feel comfortable recommending this grip. Nyko could fairly easily resolve all of my issues with it, so hopefully we see an updated version that's a bit better at some point. Until then, though, it's a good alternative to the Pro Controller, since it holds games and separates into two controllers when needed. ... show more

  • Definitely worth the money.
Pros: * Cheaper than Nintendo's charging grip * Much more well made * Better battery, too * Much more utility than Nintendo's charging grip * More comfortable to hold than Nintendo's grips * The mobile phone clip can be used to hold your switch, and it works pretty well. You just can't swing it around like a maniac, or else it'll come off * Can charge devices besides your Joycons, such as phones, and even the switch itself if you can find a USB charger for it Cons: * Wore out the latches on my joycons after extended use, due to the lack of a groove in the rail for them to lock into. * Adhesive for keeping your (mobile phones, nintendo switch, even) wears out pretty quickly, though it's not that much of a big deal. * Whatever material the controller is made of will rub off on your joycons, but this can be fixed by cleaning them off. Honestly, in spite of the cons, I still love this product. The joycon's latches wear out pretty often, anyways, seeing as how even the ones I kept out of this controller eventually wore down from holding the switch up so much. (Yes, I play often in the mobile mode.) ... show more

  • Good idea, very poor quality
1) connector rail for the left joy-con is so tight, that it will scratch the joy-con (right away, from the first use, use it once - your controller is scratched) 2) connector rail for the right joy-con is so loose that joy-con will accidentally pop out 3) phone holder looks sturdy, slides in snugly with a click, but taking it off feels like almost breaking the whole thing It's not unusable, but very annoying. Was very excited about the idea and very disappointed with the quality. Returning ... show more
