So, I just got this machine…I don’t usually leave reviews this early, but I love the idea of no more filter waste and cost, and this seems to be a very well-built unit. I have had many air purifiers through the years, and the cost of filters for anything effective for a large-ish area are very expensive. If this unit lasts even half of the 20 years it claims, it will have more than paid for itself as compared to replacement HEPA machines. Life lesson: pay now, or pay 2,3,5,10x more replacing units and filters later. As for the noise level…I’ve seen a few reviews, some critical, some matter-of-fact, that say the fan is loud on the high setting. Well, yes, sort of. The more air a fan moves, the louder it will be. I really don’t know what some are expecting. This is obvious logic to me, and imo it’s quieter than most, and extremely quiet on the lower settings. HEPA machines are louder because they have to run even higher to get the same air flow. They are pulling air through a tight paper filter. Your room and setup will also have a big effect on the noise level. In a carpeted room, you will find it’s much quieter than on hardwood. On a table, on hardwood, in a room with little sound dampening materials, I’m sure it will be loudest. Again, common sense. This thing is not louder than anyone should expect, and honestly, like I said, quieter and better built than any other unit I’ve used. The features on the app and machine are exactly as described and very nice. Open the pdf manual here and read before you buy if you’re expecting VOC and humidity sensors lol…it does not have them, and if you need them or expect them, buy something else. This is also common sense. The price point is for the robust build and sturdy, washable, 20 year filters. Again, WELL worth the money if it lasts as long as they say it will. If Alexa cleaned the air in my house without filter changes, I’d pay $1000 for her lol. I have had a large room Holmes purifier for over 20 years now - a testament to the fan quality! It cleans half the area of this NuWave. I change the filter once per year (which is a stretch!). This GENERIC filter (not the name brand) costs me about $35 on sale. $35x20 = $700. This is a low-ball estimate. OEM filter is probably $50 or more. Just like most things in life, the cheaper product is almost always much more expensive in the long run. So, buy all the sensors you need on the side, stop creating waste, stop wasting money, and buy this. 5 year warranty + extra year with registration to boot! I will, of course, update my review if I start having issues with the machine, customer service, or both. ... show more

Arrived quickly and was easy to set up, even though the manual was not included. (you can find it online) Remove the plastic wraps from the modular cassette filters and you're good to go. The remote is your smartphone (download the app). Establish the initial connection while your phone in on 2Ghz WIFI, not 5Ghz (this is same as with most smart home devices). It does detect odors and pollution and the lights change accordingly. I've blown cigarette smoke into it, and introduced other odors, and it immediately didn't like it!! :D ... show more

So, I really like nuwave and shark products. I bought this over the shark for the never change filter and larger area coverage. Setup from my porch, to out of the box and app connection was less than 10 minutes. Half of that was removing the plastic from 4 of the filters. It came on green, good air quality. So I'm looking at it like either I wasted 400$ because I didn't need this or it's not working. To be fair I have a continuous air flow ac and good filters on my ac. So I decided to run a quick test. I brought a lit cigarette in from the garage ( I don't smoke inside) and in seconds it went yellow, then orange then red and kicked into high gear. Went outside. 10 minutes later it was green. Threw a dog bed in the washer and opened the garage door for a minute to grab detergent filled the tank, put the detergent back in the garage and closed the door and I hear the thing whir up. Accidental test but having the garage door open for a minute was enough it could sense the air quality differences from the middle of the house. Guess it works. Not sure about longevity or oder control. But will update the review if I see any issues. In normal/auto you can't even hear it run. App is fun to poke around in too ... show more

    • Avoid the High Cost Associated with Replacement Filters

Have been using a Winix Smart air purifier for over a year now and it has been working great! It's linked to Alexa so I’m able to use voice commands to hear about air quality, filter maintenance etc on my Echo devices. The high cost of replacement filters, especially True HEPA is what led me to trying out this NUWAVE OxyPure ZERO E500 smart air purifier. Love that it is not as tall or wide as the Winix, so I’m able to place it up on a wall mounted shelf in my bedroom. The different reusable filters it relies on has a premium look and feel to them. Being constructed of stainless-steel insures they’ll last quite a while. Very easy to remove for cleaning and reinserting back into their holder once done. There wasn't any plastic on the filters, so the merchant must of removed it before shipping. The controls are easy to read and operate, even in low light. Doesn’t display a bunch of techy information that requires a degree in environmental science to understand. Alerts you to air quality using color designation. Green is good, yellow is fair, and red obviously is poor. If the lights are too bright for you, enable the sleep mode option for turning them off. You also don’t need to worry about your electric bill getting too high for there is an ECO mode which allows the NUWAVE to automatically reduce power consumption when not needed. Installing the app on your iOS or Android phone allows you to set options or turn it on/off while not at home. The easy connection method doesn't work at all. Be aware of this when you try adding your NuWave e500 for the first, second or third time to your account. You'll need to change the pairing method to "AP." You won't see that option until the 2 minute "Adding new device" clock expires during Easy mode. This simply involves you going to the WiFi settings of your phone and manually connecting it to the "Smart*****" unsecure network. Don't worry for the app meticulously walks you through the connection steps. Was finally able to pair the NuWave app to the e500 air purifier using AP mode. This appliance really does a good job removing dirt and foul odors from the air 24/7. Not sure if it’s filtering out pollutants I can’t see, smell or touch, but the air quality for the entire second floor where its setup has improved dramatically. No longer need to use air fresheners or plug-ins anymore. Saving me money multiple ways. Thumbs up on this NUWAVE OxyPure ZERO E500 Smart Air Purifier. That’s The Truth! ... show more
