Description

The jFlute is the perfect first flute choice for ages 4 to 10. It plays fully chromatically with standard flute fingering down to low D. It can be easily upgraded with our jFlute Upgrade Kit. which includes a straight head joint and C foot joint. The jFlute comes with the patented Firstnote lip plate as well as the standard lip plate. During early 2019 we upgraded the Nuvo flute to include a number of exciting improvements. This includes improving the feel and performance of the springs as well as the addition of silicone touch pads for the keys. This gives a comfortable feel under the fingers and avoids any possible nickel allergy problems. We also improved the jFlute head joint by replacing the curved head with the new innovative “donut” head joint. The “donut” is a neat solution that still shortens the reach while keeping the embouchure hole in line with the keys. This helps young starters to keep the flute balanced while also making it much easier to set up the flute for each lesson. You will be surprised and thrilled by the resonant tone from the “donut”. The new jFlute 2.0 also includes key extensions to help small fingers and a brand new case which is smaller and easier to carry for the young flautist! The jFlute uses standard flute fingerings and can play up to note G in the third octave.

    • Inexpensive works great and perfect for the beach
Color: Black
This plays as well or better than any of the student flutes I have owned. For my skill level it’s perfect. I owned a nuvo dood before and was not impressed with its playability or musicality but this thing is a real instrument and if I was a beginner or had a kid interested in trying flute , I think this one would get a lot of mileage before they needed an upgrade . Spending of upgrades I got the longer neck and the extension for the low c. That’s a must if you are not just goofing off. The upgrades fit perfectly in the very cool case it comes with too! ... show more

    • Super Practice/Marching instrument
Color: Black
This is perfect for practice and outdoor marching. I've been playing a Gemeinhardt model 3 student flute for about four years and wanted an instrument for practice that was light and could hold up to rainy weather. The Nuvo Jflute arrived today and I played it for a couple of hours. Really enjoyed it! No, it's not a concert quality instrument, but the sound is decent, the range is almost the same as my Gemeinhardt, and I love the compact size and can't wait to use it in a parade. The keys operate very well and the silicone caps are quite comfortable. The hard carrying case is also satisfactory. Excellent for what it is meant to be! ... show more

    • Wow! So impressed.
Color: Black
I cannot believe the sound quality from this. I bought two for my beginning band students and would buy another in a heartbeat.

    • Buy a tin whistle or a good recorder instead at a fraction of the cost
Color: Black
If the idea is that this is a great beginner instrument to introduce the flute to younger students, then I'd say there are more effective and cheaper alternatives out there. The Nuvo is better in concept that in execution. Both my son and I tried, but even with the supplied beginner mouth piece to make blowing and making first sounds easier, it was hard to make a good sound on the instrument, especially on the lower notes. The construction seemed solid and there are no complaints about the overall ergonomics which are faithful to a Boehm flute. But it was just a non-starter as far as making a decent sound and progessing with fingering and notes were concerned. Returned this and bought my son a good recorder instead and he's having a lot more fun and making a lot more progress with fingering, intonation etc so he can eventually make a jump to a good quality student flute. I know the recorder is a fipple instrument while the Nuvo is meant to be a beginner flute, but a big part of long term success for young kids who are interested in woodwinds, is to have small victories along the way and start loving music by playing a few tunes, and not be daunted by a bunch of keys and discouraged by the initial hump. If the concern is to get used to a side-blown flute, there is a Yamaha fife YRF-21 that costs less than 10 bucks and will teach kids to blow into a transverse hole to produce a sound and it's just as easy to clean and maintain since it's made of ABS. So my personal opinion is that this is neither here nor there. Whether for adult or younger beginners, a simpler instrument which is easier to blow and still easy enough to clean, carry and play will do a lot more for developing an affinity for woodwinds and a proper student flute at that point would be a better investment than buying this Nuvo. ... show more

    • Love this Rugged Flute
Color: Black
I have played the flute for many, many years, but lately have only gotten out my Gemeinhardt flute at Christmas time. Then I got this jFlute. My Nuvo jFlute is so rugged, and has such a wonderful tone, that I leave it out all the time and pick it up to play little tunes all the time. LOVE IT! The only problem I've had is when I bought the kit to make it full flute size, the foot joint does not go on right. The angle is wrong. Otherwise I highly recommend this to any flute player. Also, I have another jFlute that I am using to teach my granddaughter. She loves the alternate mouthpiece, while she is learning to make a sound with the regular mouthpiece. ... show more

    • Cute, light weight, perfect for 6, 7 year olds.
Color: White/Green
It is so cute and light, and is similar enough to the real flute. I teach flute, and absolutely adore this product for 1st and 2nd graders. The light weight really helps. And it is sturdy (as opposed to delicate mechanism), so perfect for little clumsy kids!
